Five Centimeters Per Second Discussion
Sylocat: Wow, I didn't even know Makoto Shinkai had a new movie out until I saw this. I've been waiting since about 2005, but I guess I stopped checking sometime during '06. How on Earth this got released a year and a half ago without my knowing about it... Anyway, someone requested Wiki Magic and I've done my best. This movie deserves a more colorful page than this.

Yotterportan: Yes, I absolutely agree. For me, byousoku is the absolute ultimate freakin wth best anime I've had ever seen. Personally, I think that Byousoku is more on philosophical-slice of life-then romance kind of film, not just some random very very very pathetic and just annoyingly sad anime like what my friends said. Hmm... I'm a noob. What's Wiki Magic anyway? Some kind of refurbishment?

Namta: No, it was definitely more of a romance. But I'd say it's probably the best anime romance film ever made (the ambiguous Bittersweet Ending really helps) and the message, which I think is that two people can be brought together and apart and together again but that it all turns out best for them in the bitter(sweet) end, is one that I always love when I see it in fiction.

Momonga: Actually, the slice-of-life parts were what made me cry the most, because they reminded me of my brief but happy time in Japan (the convenience stores, the train stations). Toss in some past relationship drama involving someone moving far away, and this movie was tailor-made to make me cry. Hearing the song really gets the tears flowing. I think I have to go listen to it and cry now...

Question: from where did somebody get the impression that Akari's marriage was arranged? As far as I can tell there's no indication of that in either the Japanese or English versions.
