Can Not Spit It Out Discussion
Second Silk: Cannot is one word! The trope is supposed to be "Cannot Spit It Out" because the character is unable to spit it out. If the character had a choice and was able or allowed to keep silent then it would be "can not spit it out". Contrast: "I am not allowed to do that" and "I am allowed to not do that". Okay, that's at least three times explained, now.

Tnvlsrule: As much as I agree, I also think that it is fine as it is. If it's changed to the grammatically correct version, that's fine, too.
Dentaku: I don't think the Kanon example is correct, since everybody really sees Ayu all the time, along with the protagonist, so it's incorrect to say he's hallucinating. The weird part is then why nobody realizes that she actually is the same girl who is lying in a coma up to the very end.
