HeartBurn Kid:
" The original title of "Ten little niggers" was simply too politically incorrect.". Looks like we got ourselves a
Wiki Vandal. Oooh, I tremble at your l33tness and evil language.
Tulling: I am not making it up. From
http://www.bookrags.com/notes/none/BIO.htm:
"And Then There Were None was originally titled 'Ten Little Niggers', but when it was published in the US, the name was changed to 'And Then There Were None'. In the 60s, during a heightened period of sensitivity, the title of the play was changed to 'Ten Little Indians'. Since then, the play has always been titled 'Ten Little Indians', and the novel 'And Then There Were None'." Also, a photo of a cover with the original title: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Ten_Little_Niggers.jpg
HeartBurn Kid: Whoops. Guess I assumed too much from the contents of the edit and the fact that it was unsigned. Sorry. //Later: OK, it
was unsigned, when I looked at the history before... man, this Wiki is so weird.
Tulling: It was just a quick remark related to the various titles the story is known under. I shall clarify it.
Kizor: For the record, this has always been known as "Ten Little Niggers" in Finland, a white-as-a-sheet country without a history of slavery. It probably goes to show something or other.
Tulling: "Neekeri" (which I presume is the word used) is probably better considered equivalent to "negro", which has less uniformly pejorative connotations than "nigger".
Herbarius: There is of course this one movie missing in the examples, which is a parody of this type of story and also a parody of different characters, two that I remember where Columbo and James Bond... Sadly I do not remember the name of that movie, but somebody PLEASE put it here ;)
Forget it, it seams I overlooked "Murder By Death".
