Literature: Return To Vatician City
A book series focusing on Princess Cosmos, Princess Lunara, and a peasant boy, Xander and the war going on between their planet, Urona, and their neighboring planets, Urina and Uruna. The first book begins with Cosmos and Lunara escaping the invasion on the capitol of Urona, Vatician City. They come across a farmer boy named Xander, who gives them shelter for the night. When Cosmos recieves a letter from her traitorous arranged fiancee saying that if they continue with the wedding as scheduled, there will be a cease-fire, she impulsively drags Lunara and Xander with her back to the captiol. Xander sees the note, and agrees to take her to Vatician City, in hopes that when she gets there, she won't actually marry him. When Cosmos tells him her true intentions, he leaves, furious that she's throwing her life away. After he leaves, Lunara overhears the man Cosmos is supposed to marry say that he intends to kill her after her coronation, and proceed in taking over the planet. Lunara runs to get Xander, and they show up just in time to stop Cosmos from marrying him. They stop Urina from invading, and all is well. And then Cosmos is crowned queen, and she marries Xander, making him king.

Provides examples of:

  • Aliens Speaking English: Word Of God says it's because Urona, Urina, and Uruna are actually planets that Americans settled on.
  • Beautiful Dreamer: Subverted.
(From Xander's point of veiw) Cosmos was asleep by Lunara. I don't know why, but I was partially hoping that she would be.... I don't know, prettier in her sleep. Yeah. No. She had the exact same expression on her face as she did when she was awake: cold and regal.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: With Cosmos, it's almost LITERAL.
  • Devil in Plain Sight: Jinsin Durangla. Especially after his Kick the Dog moment when Lunara hears he's going to kill Cosmos once she's queen.
  • Gentleman Snarker: Despite her icy demeanor, Cosmos is actually pretty sarcastic.
  • It Is Pronounced Tro-PAY: Lunara isn't pronounced "Loon-er-uh". It's pronounced "Loon-arr-uh".
  • Love Epiphany: Xander has to literally have it SPELLED OUT to him that he's in love. Cosmos, the object of his affection, however, doesn't know she reciprocates the feelings until he kisses her.
  • Two Girls and a Guy: Lunara, Cosmos, and Xander
  • Rebellious Princess: Cosmos and Lunara are pretty loose examples of this. But Cosmos is rumored to get a bit more like this in book 2, despite the fact that in that book, she's already queen.
  • Shorter Means Smarter: Princess Lunara
