Literature: Omniverse GC
"Unseen worlds lie outside the reality which we live, existing in realms far beyond our own imagination. Each of these worlds are organized into parallel dimensions or universes - places that spawn from our own creativty."
From The Best of the Best
Planet Ilion, capital of the Galactic Senate

Omniverse GC is a large Science Fiction Shared Universe wiki taking place in a collection of original universes founded on March 13, 2012. The wiki incorporates a good degree of hard science fiction. Most of the wiki's stories take place in the Omni 01 universe particularly revolving around the affairs of the galaxy-spanning alliance of superpowers known as the Galactic Senate. Originating in 2009 as part of the Spore Wiki Fiction Universe, three years later it would break off into an entirely different series of its own and having very little to do with Spore. Because of this, both wikis share many similarities in style and setting, though Omniverse GC tends to focus more on professionalism. Anyone can contribute to the wiki, though new writers are required to create a pitch showcasing what they plan to write.

After its first year anniversary, the series received numerous reboots in an attempt to fix some long standing problems including the use of numerous Dicredited Tropes.

Omniverse GC is located here. There are still many more stories in Omniverse GC, varying in style and size.

Here is a list of the characters from Omniverse GC.

Here is a list of shout outs in Omniverse GC.

Omniverse GC contains examples of the following:

    open/close all folders

    General
  • Above Good and Evil - A commonly enforced theme to encourage users to be more original.
  • Abnormal Ammo - Expect to see things such as acid spit or shuriken being fired from a gun.
  • Action Girl - An increasingly common trope as more characters get added.
  • Alien Blood - Played with. Some aliens have normal, red blood. Others have yellow, green or blue blood.
  • Alien Sky - Given the setting, this is to be expected. Usually, the first thing that is described when a character lands on another planet is the sky.
  • All Planets Are Earth-Like - Heavily subverted. Almost every single habitable planet is vastly different from Earth.
  • Alternate Universe - The whole setting of Omniverse GC. Humans had left Earth in the 1980s after being attacked by the Harbingers.
  • Antimatter - used as one of many weapons
  • Author Appeal - More often than not, factions are often modeled after the belief systems and ideals of the user who created it. For balancing, the more experienced users will often create other factions which serve as foils.
  • Beauty Equals Goodness - Naturally averted when most aliens are modeled after monstrous/animalistic creatures.
  • Canon Discontinuity - Can happen frequently due to large scale retcons.
  • Creator Backlash - After the near-completion of one of Dark Prophecy's drafts, a scathing self-review was posted by one of its main authors - the main criticisms being the numerous use of pet peeve tropes.
  • Earth Is the Center of the Universe - The wiki openly encouraged to avert this trope at all costs.
  • Early Installment Weirdness - Some of the wiki's earliest stories alluded greatly to typical fantasy tropes and had characters that were not so intelligent, a stark contrast to the more realistic style the wiki became after the retcons.
  • Follow the Leader - It is not uncommon for new users to create civilizations that have remarkable similarities to those that have been around since the beginning.
  • Genre Shift - Originally a science fantasy, the wiki has shifted from level 2 to level 4 on Mohs Scaleof Sci Fi Hardness since its inception.
  • Grey and Black Morality - If the bad guy is straight-up evil, then usually, the hero has some dark backstory.
  • Grey and Gray Morality - If there are no wickedly evil villains, this will almost always be the case.
  • Invincible Hero - A common mistake made by new users. Does not occur in the canon, however.
  • Self-Parody - One-Man Army and the Malexemplum are examples.
  • Sturgeon's Law - When this begun to occur on the wiki, a pitch system was put in place.
  • Troperiffic - Virtually every character backstory is this.

    In-universe tropes
  • A God Am I - Altus Banya believes that he is such.
  • All Deserts Have Cacti - Played with. Most deserts do not have cactus-like plants, but some Ucharpli's deserts do.
    • The Codgele desert has severl cactus-like plants.
    • The Kaktice, which is an ice cactus, grows in the frozen continent of Aggateya.
  • The Alliance - The Galactic Senate.
  • Applied Phlebotinum - Maj.
    • Some Ancient technology is this as well.
  • Badass Crew - The Galactic Senate Special Operations Corps.
  • Bizarre Alien Biology - Vaikan have livers in their necks which is their only means of breaking down food. And their equivalent of vomitting is sneezing.
  • Break Them By Talking - The Altusian Brotherhood assassinates its victims by doing this.
  • Call a Smeerp a "Rabbit" - Some of Ucharpli's native fauna share the same names as Earth creatures. Also, some creatures from Delse (IE: the Sevritulin and Kralikov) have nicknames containing Earth creature names (Vorpal Mantis and Saberback Salamander respectively).
  • Cast from Hit Points - Maj works by drawing energy from an object. Majites will draw energy from themselves and can potentially pass out if overused.
  • Conlang - The languages of Yallvus Talk and Luuschtuntski have articles which explain grammar structure and list common vocabulary, including swear words.
  • Cosmic Retcon - Happens all the time.
  • Cult - The Altusian Brotherhood.
  • Dark Is Not Evil - Ahrganot Skizgo.
  • Deadpan Snarker - Tholker Zhevhyit.
  • Death World - Not counting any of the uninhabitable planets, there are several that fall under this category.
    • Most of Ucharpli's wildlife is very territorial and aggressive making it dangerous to travel through its wilderness without a weapon.
    • Delse has a plethora of large predators.
    • Silva has an entire ecosystem of large carnivorous plants.
  • Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu? - The Harbingers are said to be the manifestation of an actual deity. Yet organic life has been beating them up consistently over billions of years.
  • The Empire - Reconstructed. Any civilization that has empire qualities portrays them in a positive light.
  • Eternal English - Averted. It is acknowledged that languages constantly change and evolve.
  • Expy - When Omniverse GC broke off from Spore Wiki, the Grox were renamed "Harbingers".
    • Later, their motives were explained in greater detail, and now they bear a striking resemblance to Reapers.
  • Everything Is Better With Dinosaurs - There are a plethora of dinosaur-like aliens such as the Makaridons from Ucharpli and the Teraqila from Ashadra. No actual dinosaurs from Earth appear though.
  • Faster-than-Light Travel - The wiki utilizes nearly every form of theoretical faster than light travel.
  • Fantastic Racism -Played realistically based on the political status of the different species.
  • Fantasy Counterpart Culture - Many of Omni 01's alien cultures are very foreign to humans, though there are a few that bear a strong resemblance to some real-world ones.
  • Genre Savvy - Nearly every character is somewhat savvy in the Space Opera genre.
  • Heroic BSOD - Happens to both Ahrganot Skizgo and Etah Owar.
  • Human Aliens - Averted. Enforced for the Malexemplum to show how implausible the trope is.
  • Humans Are Average - Many species are compared directly to humans.
  • Humans Are Flawed - Exaggerated. ALL sentient beings are flawed.
  • Humans Are Special - The Queen Anne Union is a direct jab at this trope - an egostical group of humans that thinks Earth is the most important planet in the universe.
  • Humanoid Aliens - The majority of alien races are this.
  • Inter Continuity Crossover - It is implied that Omni 01 is within the same continuity as Multiverses Wiki. A more direct crossover between the two is scheduled to occur soon.
  • Insectoid Aliens - The Sarkakion and the Malenven. The Delsons, while mostly reptilian, have a few insectoid features.
  • Insignificant Little Blue Planet - Very much so to the point where humans complain about not getting enough attention.
  • Invincible Hero - Parodied in "The Impossible Dossier"
  • It's All Upstairs From Here - Lampshaded. Tholker Zhevhyit complains about the layout of Infra's castle being this way.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall - The wiki's fictional backstory is based around actual events that took place behind the scenes such as when certain authors joined the wiki.
    • An in-universe example is Uszaroth's tendency to reference the audience and/or readers.
    • Another in-universe example occurs in "The One-Man Army" when the Titan King (aka God) stops a story from continuing because it was upsetting the balance of the universe.
  • The Man Behind the Man - Y'knahn and Renr Gron were being manipulated by Altus Infra.
  • Two-DSpace - Averted. There are trade routes in the Milky Way that go both under and over the Galactic Core instead of through it.
  • Master Race - The Estin.
  • Man-Eating Plant - The planet Silva's ecosystem consists only of plant-like life forms. Naturally, man-eating plants can be found here.
  • Meaningful Name - Extremely common whether it be in a real language or one of the constructed ones.
    • Vaikan is derived from the Lithuanian word for child. It also has connotations to the Vikings.
    • Latin is a common language used for planet names. They translate to what the planet's characteristics are like.
  • Medieval Stasis - Averted. Technology is constantly advancing, though the rate of it depends on the civilization.
  • Ninja School - The Malinian Combat Institution
  • One Big Lie - Most particularly, the energy force known as Maj which has become the basis for an entire empire's technology.
    • Other properties of Omni 01 such as downplayed relativity and the Rule Of Cool are hand waved as unusual phenomena.
  • Our Demons Are Different - The Demons of Omniverse GC prefer to seclude themselves in their own pocket dimension, with the exception of Uszaroth.
  • Pardon My Klingon - Tholker Zhevhyit often cusses in Luuschtuntski.
  • Planet Eater - Vernietigen, but on a much larger scale. He devours entire universes to reset them to how they were just before the Big Bang.
  • Planet of Hats - Deconstructed with the Sinister Hegemony. It is a socialist dictatorship where individual alien races were modified to be only capable of one single societal role.
  • Power Glows - Inverted. The more a Maj user glows, the less efficiently they are using their Maj.
  • Precision F-Strike - Swearing is moderately common, though expletives harsher than "damn" are rare. Using a Cluster F-Bomb is against the wiki's rules.
  • Precursors - The group of species known as "Ancients".
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech - Altus Infra delivers several of these.
  • Retcon - Retcons occur very frequently on the wiki.
    • Operation Intervention was retconned to be part of a Show Within a Show.
    • Even the most developed civilizations on the wiki get redone from time to time.
  • Riddle Me This - Ahrganot Skizgo has to answer a riddle while undergoing Dominion's trials.
  • Rule Of Cool - Used sparingly to justify reality breaks.
  • Sand is Water - The Sand-Sea on Delse.
    • Discussed during Operation Titanic Discoveries where it is ultimately justified.
  • Self-Parody - There are a few example stories as such.
  • Seven Deadly Sins - The Sinister Hegemony consists of seven races. Each represent a deadly sin.
    • Lusari - Lust
    • Glukar - Gluttony
    • Avarith - Greed
    • Slothra - Sloth
    • Rirath - Wrath
    • Malenven - Envy
    • Eghos - Pride
  • Shout Out - A whole page of them here
  • Shifting Sand Land - There are tons of deserts. The planets of Delse, Alk'charis and Jaran just to name a few.
  • Shown Their Work - Extensive research is done before articles and stories are written.
    • A lot of effort is put into getting space physics correct. Disputes have actually arisen as to whether Artistic License should be used in some scenarios.
    • The article on the Eteno Imperial Armed Forces goes into great detailed regarding the types of guns used as well as ships.
    • For the planet Ucharpli, Earth's ecology and creatures were extensively researched beforehand.
  • Silicon-Based Life - The Desiir. There are a few ammonia-based and methane-based life forms as well.
  • Single-Biome Planet - The majority of garden worlds avert this.
    • Non-garden worlds will usually play this straight.
  • Space Is an Ocean - Though Omniverse GC gets space physics correct, starships share the same classifications as nautical vessels.
  • Space Is Noisy - Averted in the main stories. Lampshaded with a fourth wall break in The One-Man Army.
Narrator: "The sound of it (an explosion) echoed across the cosmos and could be heard from lightyears away."
Uszaroth: "Somewhere, an astronomy buff is crying himself to death after reading those last two paragraphs."
  • Space Pirates - Lots of them.
  • Space Opera - Reconstructed. It ranks 4 on Mohs Scale of Sci-Fi Hardness.
  • Stealth In Space - Averted. However, in previous drafts, it was possible.
  • Steampunk - Vaikan architecture is described as such.
  • Strange Syntax Speaker - The Nuuska
  • Superior Species - Deconstructed. It is implied that achieving the status of utopia is actually a form of cultural regression.
    • Played for laughs with the Malexemplum Empire. The goal was to point out the flaws of a Mary Sue Topia.
  • Sword and Gun - The majority of Vaikan soldiers follow this format.
  • Technobabble - Averted. The wiki highly discourages the use of it.
  • Time Travel - Double subverted. Temporal properties of Omni 01 disallow it at first, yet somehow Etah Owar could communicate to his dead ancestor through the Nexus of Time.
  • Title Drop - Happens in "The Best of the Best" and "The Final Confronation".
    • In the latter, a Title Drop on the story arc is present.
  • Translation Convention - Omniverse GC uses universal translators allowing communication between races, a case of Translator Microbes, though English is never actually spoken by any characters.
  • Universal Universe Time - Double subverted. Each alien race has their own calendar and measurement system, though relativity as it applies to time is deliberately ignored in the universe of Omni 01.
    • Justified as it's stated that in Omni 01, relativity works for space, but not time.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist - Altus Infra is actually trying to save the universe from being destroyed by Vernietigen.
  • Villain Has A Point - The Harbingers are intiailly portrayed as typical omnicidal maniacs, but their true purpose was to protect the universe from interference of forces that were too powerful to exist in Omni 01.
  • You Cannot Grasp the True Form - The home dimension of the Titans known as the Hub, though it appears as the Milky Way's galactic core. Mortals are unable to comprehend its existence and therefore cannot enter it.

    Vaikan
  • Acrofatic - To a lesser extent. Female Vaikan are pudgy, yet still very agile.
  • Animesque - Vaikan are drawn in this style. Justified in that they actually look like that.
  • Big Eater - Often associated with their meal customs.
  • Bizarre Alien Biology - While rather humanoid on the outside, their internal anatomy is completely different from that of a human's.
  • Lighter and Softer - The Vaikan were originally genocidal maniacally dragon-like creatures. They've now become cutesy, plush doll-like creatures.
  • Masculine Lines, Feminine Curves - Ahrganot Skizgo is significantly more rigid looking than Salanna Zenklah. Justified as actual anatomical differences.

    Early draft tropes
  • Author Filibuster - In The Final Confrontation, Etah preaches how much better chaos is than order. The segment was later removed.
  • Beethoven Was an Alien Spy - Previous drafts had other civilizations inspiring Earth's cultures in the ancient past. Later averted for continuity purposes.
  • The Milky Way Is the Only Way - In the earliest drafts, ships could travel throughout the Milky Way Galaxy within hours, yet going into another galaxy remained impossible. When other galaxies were introduced to make more room, naturally, this trope got averted.
  • Superior Species - When Omniverse GC was part of SFF Wiki, this trope was played completely straight.
