A piece of original fiction by Magnezone, originally for National Novel Writing Month but being heavily remodeled. HEAVILY remodeled. What will stay is this: When many people die, they die. As in their soul cease to animate their body. Now, what happens next depends heavily on the person - a large amount of souls go exactly where they expected to go, but a few are... roped into Earth again with a new body to run around in (sometimes similar, sometimes very different), many with Laser-Guided Amnesia. This isn't all - not by a long shot. For one thing, regardless of their eye color in life, all pupils turn a vicious shade of red. All of them rope in some shiny new powers, based off of a single noun ("Insanity," "Honesty," "Loyalty," etc.). Again, the specifics vary, but it was this power that gave the strange creatures a collective name - the Origins. All Origins live forever, able to contact the outside world and walk around like a normal human being, but alienated considerably by their unique traits. Our story focuses on two Origins, Moony and Sal (Insanity and Honesty, respectively). Moony's name is a pet derivative of 'Moonstriker'(the name he gave himself after finding that he was unable to recall his true one). He was born and raised in Victorian England (1840-1855); despite modifying most of his person accordingly, he still insists on wearing the same stuff he did back in the day. Sal, on the other hand, is a rat. Literally.
