Contains Examples Of

  • Alien Space Bats: The premise of this timeline; it is heavily hinted that Gorbachev was visited by ASBs shortly before he became General Secretary.
  • Double-Meaning Title: A possibly unintentional one: this is the second version of the story (thus, Gorbachev, for the pivotal character, and Mk II, this being Mk II of the story), but one can also take it as referring to the premise itself (Gorbachev receives future knowledge... including knowledge of how things went down in the original timeline — thus, Mk II of Gorbachev's rule of the Soviet Union, taking into account mistakes made last time).
  • Richard Nixon, the Used Car Salesman: Done deliberately by Gorbachev. As one example, Boris Yeltsin is thrown into jail on unspecified charges in alt-1987.
  • Set Right What Once Went Wrong: Gorbachev plans to make sure the Soviet Union doesn't fell, and as well preventing future tragedies from happening, like eliminating mass murderers such as Patrick Sherrill.
