  • John Adams as portrayed in 1776. He's universally thought of as "obnoxious and disliked"note  and eschews politeness in favor of getting independence declared now and right. However, he really believes in freedom for all Americans, including slaves, he deeply loves and misses his wife Abigail, and is sympathetic enough to Jefferson missing his own wife to call her to Philadelphia.
