• Nikki really likes Ered.
  • In Camp Cool Kidz, the way she idolizes Ered could easily be interpreted as a crush. She's constantly seen trying to impress her, to the point of temporarily abandoning Max and Neil.
  • This particular quote comes off as very reminiscent of someone who asked their friend for help with a crush.
    Nikki: I'm sorry! You said to talk to her and... I panicked, so I just voted for her!
  • In the season 3 episode Ered Gets Her Cool Back, Nikki becomes concerned about Ered when she sprains her ankle and becomes "uncool". She vows to become as cool as her whilst acting like she's deceased. When Max convinces everyone to get "cool makeovers," she even fashions her new look after her. When Ered says she liked Nikki's old look better, Nikki blushes and proclaims, "She noticed me!"
  • From the same episode: at one point she even calls Ered her "baby".
  • Nikki gets sparkles in her eyes when she sees Ered
• Neil's obsession with solving Harrison's trick in Mind Freakers. He develops complete tunnel vision and is unable to focus on anything besides Harrison for the entire episode.
  • Some have pointed out that this episode's cold open is strikingly similar to the cold open from Gravity Falls' "The Inconveniencing," where Dipper insists he doesn't like Wendy, only to stay up all night thinking about her.
    Neil: So I don't know how you did it. Big deal. It's not like I'm gonna lose sleep over it.
    Neil: (Later, very clearly losing sleep over it) ...Shit.
  • At the end of the episode, Harrison playfully boops Neil's nose, which could draw easy parallels to another Rooster Teeth series...
• This exchange in Eggs Benefits:

  Neil: Nurf, leave me alone or so help me, I will post Photoshops everywhere of you kissing guys!

  Nurf: Woah! Hey, somebody's a little tense. You might want to look into some aggression therapy. Besides, maybe I already tried to explore my sexuality, you don't know. (sniff) Chris, why did you leave me?

• In Nikki's Last Day on Earth, Nerris' contribution to Nikki's funeral is a reenactment of a "brave wizard saves the princess" scenario - starring herself as the wizard and Nikki as the princess. She seemed rather upset when Nikki did not immediately rush into her arms as prompted at the end.
  • New Adventure has been compared by some to "girlfriends out with their son". Nikki admits she has no idea what her role in said adventure is but she enjoys being with Nerris and Nerris very valiantly defends Nikki from the Flower Scouts' insults, loudly proclaiming that Nikki has every right to be herself.
• Someone compiled a three-minute clip show video consisting of all the evidence in the show^note As of the Christmas special that Max and Neil are crushing on each other.
• Despite all of the actual crushes in the episodes being straight, The Lake Lilac Summer Social provided quite a bit of this for some unexpected pairs.
  • When Snake pulls Neil aside to talk about the situation with the girls, the two of them slow dance... despite the fact that they don't actually have to. This is further highlighted by Tabii and Erin dancing separately while they argue. When Snake pulls him away, he even tells Neil he "needs" him.
  • After they find out the girls more or less manipulated them, Snake and Neil seem to decide they're better off together and even find some common ground. One of Snake's lines really makes it read as a realization of romantic preference.
    Snake: Bro. You danced with two girls tonight. AND a guy. Then you realized you deserved better and told them off. You sound like a winner to me.
  • On the Tabii/Erin side of things, the two of them comfort each other about their insecurities, telling the other she's beautiful despite her imperfections. Afterwards, Tabii even helps Erin put up her hair to show off her heterochromia.
    Erin: Jesus, Tabii, have some self-respect. You're fresh to death, and if a boy can't get over one eye, then that's not worth your time.
• Dolph gets very affectionate with Max after becoming his "friend" in The Candy Kingpin, giving Neil a gobstopper in exchange for getting to be Max's tentmate, happily mentioning that they'll probably have to "squish together" with all the space the candy takes up, and watching him when he sleeps.
  • Dolph also regularly gets sparkles in his eyes when he's with Max
• This line in Camp Loser Says What?:

  David: Daniel may seem nice and caring, and smart, and handsome, and-

  Gwen: (deadpan) Focus.

  David: ....But he's actually a deranged cult-leader!

  • In the same episode, Daniel calls out David's name in a particularly flirty-sounding tone as he asks for the bus.
• Jasper and a younger David's friendship can be seen as a childhood crush situation (from Davey's or both sides).
  • Davey is rather physically touchy with Jasper in Dial M for Jasper.
  • David still refuses to let go of the memories he has with Jasper around 14 years later, still bawling his eyes out when he thinks about the fight they had, and thinking Jasper hasn't reached out because he was still mad. Not to mention this fight and the lack of closure is the reason Jasper's spirit hadn't moved on the entire time.
