Line Eaters. Oh so very much, Line Eaters. Monsters who have the ability to erase their victims from existence. What makes this even more terrifying is that there is no way of knowing if another member of the party besides Francis had been devoured. Perhaps there were 6 seedlings originally? How would anyone be able to tell?
Ammi's House itself. A rotting death trap laced in blood which gets in to your head and finds your greatest fears and not only turns them against you but creates a personal nemesis spirit to track you down and kill you. The LUCKY ones are just locked up in a box until they starve or dehydrate.
Phlegmatic's dungeon also qualifies. Imagine working at an office day after day, feeling more complacent and calm and detached, until you forget how to feel emotion, stop noticing that you've not been home for weeks and don't pause to notice a giant crab killing guards a few feet away. —-and when they do notice, they're so intrigued that they taste the blood before getting back to work.
