* Garrett is forced to steal an item from the Pagans in order to achieve his task. He receives a letter from Dyan, who makes it clear under ordinary circumstances there would be retribution for his theft... but remembers his relationship with Viktoria during the Metal Age, and knows that Viktoria would want her to find another way. As such she offers him the opportunity to make up for the theft by aiding the Pagans in a task.

* Marla's fangirl-like crush on Garrett is silly and implicitly annoys him, but it's still charming to see he has some genuine admirers even among fellow thieves.

I couldn\'t forget the exact enscription on that plaque even if I wanted to.

* [[ItAlwaysRainsAtFunerals The Overlook Manor mission]]. Poor widow [[spoiler:Edwina Moira]], DrivenToMadness by her husband's sudden unexplained death. [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E569vGy7Xro&feature=related She asks you to fetch her a glass of wine from the manor's kitchen]] [[TearJerker to cheer her up.]] It's not essential to the storyline or the completion of the mission, but fulfilling this mini side quest results in this trope. Later, when Garrett is leaving the mansion, he has the option of stealing the family's life savings and a special bonus piece of loot, which is a family relic. If you leave this loot be and finish the mission, you'll soon receive a letter from the widow. She thanks you for your kindness and compliments you for being a true GentlemanThief, a rare sight these days. ''Awwww...''

* Inspector Drept; despite being a [[KnightTemplar Hammerite]], his sole aim in life is to destroy the creature who killed and skinned his only friend, Lauryl, in the Shalebridge Cradle when they were both children. He's nearing old age, and the other Hammerites all believe he's chasing ghosts, but he is in fact the only one with a near-complete idea of what the BigBad ''really'' is; enough that Garrett eventually goes to him for help. It's the plaque above his desk that really crushes you:

* The {{Book End|s}}. Garrett smiles for the only time in the entire series, probably because he loves the {{Irony}}.
