Heartwarming / The Singing Detective

  • At the very end, the young Marlow is sitting high in a tree in the forest, a Shout-Out to an earlier scene. He says the same line as he said in the earlier scene: "When I grow up, I be goin' to be a detective", but whereas in the earlier scene it was the clue that he was starting to get paranoid and obsessive, this time he just smiles, and looks away at the trees blowing in the wind as the camera pulls back.
