- When Marcus and Celia find each other, after they end up in an alternate plane of existence.
- Mr. Barris, the architect, is introduced as a timid and introverted man who rarely gets invited to parties. With that in mind, it was really kind of Chandresh to invite Barris to one of his opulent Midnight Dinners (even if it was mainly to get Barris' help designing the circus.) The book states that Barris enjoyed the event so much that he decided to get out and meet people more often.
