- The blissful grip. The other girls send Siss a note to invite her on a field trip, asking if things soon will become as it was. The new girl in charge takes front stage, and she and the others take Siss to the closed Ice Palace one last time before it falls. Hesitating, Siss follows the other children, and the girl in charge calls her out on her behaviour ("It has not been good this winter!"). After a fumbling conversation, where both try to reach out, Siss agrees on more social behavior, but is about to freak, almost screaming:
But you mustn`t come to me!
What?
And I mustn`t come to you!
What?
Or it will happen as it happened before!
Here, the girl in charge takes hold of Siss and keeps her.
Don`t you disappear again now! We are with you. No going away now. You hear?
"Siss only felt the blissful grip". It is implied that the entire community worries for her during the winter.
