  • Tails finally being allowed to go on a mission. Sally doesn't approve, but Sonic reassures her. It really shows them acting like parents.
Sonic: He'll be fine, Sal. I promise.
Sally: I'll hold you to that, Sonic. If anything happens to him...
Sonic: It won't. Tails ain't a little kid any more, Sal. He can do this. After all, he learned from t'best.
He kisses her on the cheek, making her blush.
Sally: Thanks, but...I'm trusting you on this, Sonic. Don't let me down.
Sonic: I'm a 'hog of my word, Sal. Come SWATBots or sneaky spells, I won't let Tails get hurt.
They hug and walk off holding hands.
    • Sonic is desperately worried for Tails after Naugus zaps his tails in mid-air causing him to plummet. When he shows up alive and well, Sonic is so relieved he hugs him.
    • Tails hugging Sally and Bunnie after regrouping.
    • Sonic puts Tails to bed. Tails, still shaken from his near-death experience, feels he's not up to being a Freedom Fighter. Sonic puts his fears to rest.
Tails: Earlier...back in the city...when...when Naugus zapped my tails...when I was falling...when I thought...I wasn't gonna make it...I got really scared. I...I know Freedom Fighters aren't supposed to get scared...'n I'm OK now, honest, but...I feel like I let you down...like I can't come with you guys to Robotropolis because I'm not tough enough.
Sonic: You kiddin', Big Guy? Of course you can, you were great out there today! Spottin' that machine, gettin' the drop on Naugus...we'd be crazy to leave you out. Look...just because you got scared, that's no reason you can't be a Freedom Fighter anymore. Bein' scared...it's practically part 'o the job description for us.
      Tails: R...really?
Sonic: Really. And I know it's hard, but the thing that counts is gettin' past that fear 'n' still doin' what you gotta do. You did that today, Tails, 'n' that's how I know you're a Freedom Fighter now.
      They hug
      Tails: Thanks...Sonic.
      Sonic: No prob, Big Guy.
  • It only happens in one panel, but there’s a scene in Chapter 4 where Snively attempts to shoot the Freedom Fighters with his remote controlled mech. Sally is seen to practically hug Tails to her and pull him out of the way of the blast.
  • The ending to the Yet Another Christmas Carol mini comic. Sally (Scrooge) promises Tails (Tiny Tim) she will never forget him. The penultimate page reveals Tails as the narrator with the final page having him share a hug with Sally. At the bottom of the group shot of the Freedom Fighters is a message from the creators thanking the fans for their support.
    • The story tries to keep Sally semi-in character by conveying her as a Well-Intentioned Extremist who lost her way. Her motives are still selfless but she is cold and distant towards everyone and pushes work on them under the belief it is vital for the good of the populace, pretty much making it a repentant Deconstruction of her (often polarising) Control Freak canon persona. In pretty much all adaptations of the story, it's generally Scrooge's fear of an untimely and lonely death that galvanises their turn. In this one, it's just Tails' fate shown before Sally, that was enough.
