- As Garrett explains his flashback, there was a brief scene of Merlin watching Lionel helping Garrett train while holding Ayden. Sensing a glimpse of potential with Garrett, Merlin silently convinces Ayden to stay by Garrett's side, implying that he sent Ayden to act as a guide for Garrett, even as the latter moves to the Forbidden Forest following Lionel's death. After Ruber is defeated and Garrett is knighted by Arthur, Merlin happily praises Ayden for a job well done by patting him.
- Kayley sympathising with Garrett after learning that he dreamt of becoming a knight and how the death of Sir Lionel impacted on his dreams, but she reassures him that he is just as skilled and talented as the knights.
Kayley: I felt that way, too. But I knew he would never want me to give up. He wouldn't want you to give up either. You're as good as any knight in Camelot.
Garrett: You really think so?

- It was Kayley's turn to defeat the plant with Garret's staff. Of course, she moved too early and gets pushed into Garrett's arms by the plant. He just smiles into the open, showing not just that he is now becoming more positive, but the way that he and Kayley are beginning to fall in love.
