The soldier who had seen his best friend killed in front of him and tells the Sergeant he does not want to join the rescue convoy and go back out into the city. As the convoy drives out of the base the Sergeant looks in his rear view mirror and the man is still standing there, having his moment of doubt. As the last vehicle passes him he finally makes up his mind and jumps on board and the entire audience as one goes "YESSSSSS!"
The helicopter that flies over the city at nightfall, sending the message to Durant that he will not be left behind.
"MIKE DURANT, WE WON'T LEAVE YOU BEHIND! MIKE DURANT, WE WON'T LEAVE YOU BEHIND!"
The immaculately turned out Pakistani mess waiters greet the bedraggled and exhausted US soldiers on the verge of heatstroke at the stadium entrance with trays of fresh water and clean towels. A small gesture perhaps but one certainly appreciated by the men involved at the time.
