The way some tropers use this trope bugs me. People seem to include it on any female who is tomboyish, even if they've shown interest in men within the work. It seems to imply that if a girl doesn't act like a girl, of course she's a lesbian. What up with that?

I'm guessing it has to do with a comparison to rolling a cigar. Just smoking one is badass enough, but rolling one makes you manly. Therefore, a woman who makes her own tampons is a Badass. It's also apparently an old joke along these lines.
