Headscratchers / Barbie: Star Light Adventure

• What was with all the allusions to Barbie having royal lineage? Was there some subplot that Barbie's mother was royalty that went into hiding that was cut, but not completely? Leo assumes she's a princess on first meeting her, people react to her powers like they're special for a reason (note they're not much different from what the twins have), where she's from is remarked on like it's peculiar, her mother is brought up an awful lot for someone who's dead and unimportant, Barbie herself talks about her mother more than she does her father (as opposed to saying "my parents used to sing this song to me", for instance, if the mother wasn't important), and she's "declared" a princess at the end for no reason at all. It's even lampshaded that there's no reasoning behind it by Barbie herself, who is confused as to why she got the title, something nobody else on the team got. Barbie movies usually don't just hand out princess titles without explaining them.
