The more destructive the class of ship, the more likely the name is going to be hypocritically hilarious.
Becomes insanely funny when you hear about a race that insulted the Culture's ship names for 'lack of gravitas'. Of course, being The Culture, this resulted in ships like:
Zero Gravitas
Very Little Gravitas Indeed
Stood Far Back When The Gravitas Was Handed Out
Low Gravitas Warning Signal
Absolutely No You-Know-What
In The Player Of Games, The Empire of Azad was confused that the Culture didn't have any anthem to play to welcome the first ambassador, so the ambassador just whistled the first song that sprung to mind... a Bawdy Song called "Lick Me Out". The Azad... haven't been told about the lyrics yet.
