Funny / The Book of Eli

  • The hijackers are understandably confused by their leader's instructions to "kiss him". Eli (having just relieved the man of his hand) helpfully clarifies that the leader is in shock, and most likely meant to say "kill".
  • "I'm going to take my things and leave this bar." "Alright." *thud*
  • Eli trying to explain "faith" using the metaphor of a "flower of light in a field of darkness." Solara asks if that's something he got from the book, and Eli sheepishly admits it's from "At Folsom Prison".
  • This exchange:
    Carnegie: Where's the book?
Eli: It's in the house, back of the TV.
Carnegie: (to goon) Go check the TV.
Goon: (with mystified look) The what?
Carnegie: YOU’RE FUCKIN’ SHITTIN’ ME!!! (to Redridge who is old enough to remember what this is) You go!
  • The Old cannibal couple Eli and Solara are a huge source of funny moments. Their cheerful approach to the apocalypse is a huge contrast to the rest of the film, and Michael Gambon is clearly having a lot of fun. Of course, fans who primarily know him as Dumbledore will only find it funnier.
Eli: Have you got any more weapons?
George: "Weapons? I'll show you some weapons!" *opens up the couch to reveal it's stuffed with guns.*
  • The car Solara blows up has a sign on it that reads 'Watch for children.' Good advice for avoiding grenades.
