• Chappie rearranging his dinner plate to create a mock-up for planning part of the raid. Except that none of the food represents anything, he simply refers to the food items themselves as assets on the battlefield. Lettuce is evidently quite dangerous to a reckless F-16 pilot.
• When Chappie matter-of-fact informs Doug that he's going to be flying with him on the raid to rescue Doug's dad:
  Doug: I don't believe it!
  Chappie: What's the matter, are you prejudiced or somethin'?
• Doug's friends join in to help plan the rescue mission. And while they are all smart and motivated with specific skills to offer, it is still a gaggle of energetic teenagers being wrangled by one increasingly exasperated Colonel.
  Chappie: Now in a dogfight, you must always remember to keep an angle on 'em. Attack them from the side, the top, or the back. If they come at you straight, like this, now you better-
  Reggie: You better eject, or start doing some backstrokes!"
  -Reggie and Tony both laugh at the joke, then get serious as Reggie offers his hand for Chappie to swat with his pointer stick for interrupting.-
• Chappie's scale mock-up of a Quraqi base features assorted random items as stand-ins for things he doesn't have models for. When someone asks what the lunchpail is supposed to be, he replies that it's his lunch, and asks them to get it out of the way for him.
• The Casual Danger manner in which Major Smiley talks to the bandits following Doug:
  Maj. Smiley: Attention, unidentified aircraft. This is Major Dwight Smiley of the United States Air Force. You are currently following one of our F-16s in international airspace. Do you wish to engage?
  They tuck tail and run
  Maj. Smiley: I didn't think so.
