As grim and crazy as this story gets, there's no doubting that there are some especially hilarious moments, whether it's Damen's internal thoughts or Laurent pulling a fast scheme to the surprise of everyone.

Captive Prince
- The soldiers, especially Jord and Damen bonding with each other and agreeing that Laurent was a "stone cold bitch."
- "Laurent could inspire homicidal tendencies simply by breathing."
- While trying to negotiate with a trader, Laurent acts as if Damen is a sweet docile slave, calling him a puppy and offering him sweetmeat from his hand. Damen thinks about killing Laurent on the spot.
Prince's Gambit
- The men talk about the possible rumor of Damen sleeping with Laurent but as one soldier adequately put it, "You see a panther opening its jaws, you don't get your dick out."
- Laurent orders the innkeeper to give him his best room and that if he sends up someone they'll find that he doesn't like sharing. As Laurent gives the innkeeper a cold stare Damen quietly apologizes saying, "He's expensive".
- How awkward it is for Damen to pretending to be casual as Laurent acts innocent and feeds him.
- Laurent being both impressed and stunned when Damen rips the off grill that was blocking the window.
- The Regents men crash into a nearby room where they believe Laurent is. The soldiers tell the occupants Laurent and Damens description. The two are currently outside the window, Damen tries to keep silent and hisses at Laurent to stop laughing.Damen: Stop enjoying yourself. We're going to be killed, any minute.
Laurent: Giant animal.
Damen: Stop it. - While Laurent and Damen are running across the roof-tops fleeing for their lives, once it appears that they gave the guards the slip Damen sighs in relief. Laurent however, tells him "It's the game I like" as he nudges a loose tile off the roof that falls into the streets and alerts the soldiers where they were. The chase resumes.
- After Lazar sees Damen walk out of Laurent's tent after an argument he then finally admits with a dry smile, "Alright, you're not fucking him."
- Damen's internal monologue when Laurent confronts the bandit's leader."Once in his life—Laurent got only two words out before the man simply did what most people wanted to do when speaking with Laurent: he hit him."
Kings Rising
- Laurent in Akielon attire that's basically a short toga that reveals so much of his legs. This causes Damen to drop the pitcher of wine he was holding. He continues to stare at Laurent's legs and only snaps out of it when Laurent talks to him. Damen thinks in slight remorse that he should have drunk more wine as he quickly downs the glass that he has.
- Just like in Prince's Gambit, Damen and his group are hiding from soldiers. When it seems like they were going to pass, Laurent leaps out from cover, grabbing a piece of cloth, waving it over his head and yelling to get the soldiers attention.
- Laurent calls himself "Charls the cloth merchant" and Damen is renamed "Lamen".
- This almost gets the group into trouble when they meet the real Charls at a nearby pub, but this leads into the most hilarious exchange of the entire series.
Charls: That's right. He is Charls. I am Charls. We are cousins, named after our grandfather. Charls. - Laurent talks with a group of Charls' friends about how selling cloth to Akileons was hard, and the prince suggests they just have the Akileons wear sleeves. They laugh at this, but then pause when they notice that it was actually a good idea.
- As Charls bids them farewell, he asks if Damen will put in a good word to the king of Akileos for him. Damen promises him he would.
- The soldiers inspect the cart that holds Jokaste and when they return one notes how Jokaste's beauty lived up to the rumors. After the group passes the border, Laurent slips out of the cart, tossing off the cloth he used to disguise himself. Nikandros looks on in confusion while Damen tells him to not think about it too much.
- Jokaste later comments that Laurent's lucky they look alike.
