In the anime, Shigeki disappears for about six episodes, only to reappear in the final episode, be substituted into the game against the Korean Youth Team in the last three minutes, when no one else on the team aside from Tatsuya and Sho know who the heck he is (some of the team members are even asking, as he is running onto the field, "Who's that guy?". It makes no sense at all.
