Fridge / The Bard's Tale

Go To

  • Finstown is occupied by Vikings; they were besieging the town when a dragon (released by the Bard before the events of the game) devastated it, then took advantage of the destruction to eventually capture it. A NPC in the town states that, fortunately, a lot of people managed to escape the dragon's rampage and are still out of town, leading an army to expel the Vikings. Problem: to enter the proper area of Finstown's village, the Bard had to follow a path in a forest, fighting against an ambush of very numerous bowmen. Those bowmen are identical to the few villager reinforcement the Bard gets when talking to Finstown's elder in a Viking-guarded prison in the village. Conclusion: the men the Bard had to slaughter before entering Finstown were the army sent to free the town, and since they are from the village itself (and they are much more numerous than the villagers encountered in the village itself), we guess that most of Finstown's male adult population has been massacred.
    • Then again, given their sheer numbers and firepower, you're better off running away from them directly to Finstown, keeping the casualties low.
