Fridge Brilliance:
- Why wasn't Ben able to use the Ultimatrix for a little while when he and Rex were fighting Alpha? Because Alpha cancelled out the Ultimatrix's connection to Primus! Either that, or he tapped into the signal when he copied the tech to use himself and was actively keeping Ben from transforming. This would explain why the Ultimatrix only came back online for a short time when Rex hit Alpha, then powered down again after Alpha noticed Ben transformed; his attention was diverted away from Ben temporarily. It would also explain why Ben turned into Shocksquatch; a mixed-up signal to Primus would result in an unplanned transformation into an alien Ben had never transformed into before. Plus, it's not like the Ultimatrix, or even Omnitrix are without their glitches or design faults that cause those same problems.
- Particularly as the Ultimatrix is noted by Azmuth to be more shoddily built than the Omnitrix. The previous or later watches might have not had the same issue, though again given the Omnitrix being prone to trolling or not working properly it might not have mattered.
- When you think about it, it makes sense that Rex found Ben's jacket too tight when they accidentally swapped; aside from getting more of a workout in his fights than Ben, since Ben rarely fights in his human form, Rex regularly has to hold up his various builds, it would stand to reason he is more muscular.
- The Ben 10 franchise repeatedly makes a point about refuting that the Omnitrix is a weapon. Why does Ben not bother to correct Cesar? Because the Ultimatrix was (aside from the stolen core) the creation of Albedo, who certainly did create it as a weapon.
Fridge Horror:
- Nanites cause EVOs by altering their hosts' DNA. The Ultimatrix transforms its user based on physical DNA samples. The Ultimatrix is infected with nanites. God!Rex's disable command didn't reach into alternate universes, which means all of the nanites that Ben brought over into the main Ben 10 universe are still active. Not only is Ben himself able to become an EVO, but all of his aliens are as well.
