Franchise / Naruto

In a World... ruled by ninjas, there are five great ninja villages. Naruto Uzumaki wants to be the Hokage — the leader and greatest ninja in his village. There is one problem though. On the day of his birth, his village was attacked by the Nine-Tailed Fox. Giving up his life, the 4th Hokage sealed the fox into a baby. That baby was Naruto. Now he has to deal with people after him, his team, and the rest of the world.

Naruto began in 1999 as a manga written by Masashi Kishimoto, due to its immense popularity, it has expanded into a multimedia franchise. Along with fellow Jump series One Piece and Bleach, which fandom collectively called the The Big Three, which were the magazine's flagship series through the 2000's and Early Tens'. The manga concluded in November 2014, with a movie in 2015, Boruto: Naruto the Movie serving as something of an finale.note  The anime adaptation of Part 2, Naruto Shippuden, ended the 23rd March of 2017. Leaving the place to the all new Boruto : Naruto Next Generations anime to start in April 2017.

But it's not over yet. In Spring 2016, Shounen Jump began publishing a new Boruto manga drawn by Mikio IKEMOTO (former assistant of Masashi Kishimoto during the publication of Naruto) and written by Ukyô KODACHI (involved in the Boruto movie and the various Naruto Hiden novels). Masashi Kishimoto himself has also released two Naruto Gaiden manga focusing on Boruto's teammates: a mini-series featuring Sarada Uchiha, and a one-shot focused around Mitsuki.

A live-action movie based on the franchise is in early development. Lionsgate is planning to produce the film, and Michael Gracey is in negotiations to direct. Masashi Kishimoto is involved with the production.

NOT to be confused with Narutaru and DEFINITELY not to be confused with a terrifying horror manga called Uzumaki. (Then again...).
