Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is a 2010
film directed by
Edgar Wright and based on the
comic series Scott Pilgrim by Bryan Lee O'Malley. The film, like its source material, is about a twenty-something
Toronto slacker named Scott Pilgrim who meets an American named Ramona Flowers, and must defeat her seven evil exes in order to date her. In a universe that acts like a real-life version of
River City Ransom where there are
combo meters,
written sound effects spelled out in midair,
points, and
extra lives.
Since the comic was as yet unfinished during filming, the film moves in a slightly different direction to the comic, though core elements remain the same.
While the critics and audiences loved the film it wasn't able to make back its budget in the box office market, more than likely due to the humor being targeted to a certain demographic. However it fared far better in the home market.
