Film: Puzzlehead

Puzzlehead is a slow-paced 2005 science fiction movie, directed by James Bai. The setting is a gloomy dystopian future, a world where some unexplained sociopolitical battles have led to banning of biomechanical research. However, Walter, a lone Mad Scientist, manages to create Puzzlehead, the artificially sentient android that resembles its creator in many ways. Walter used the remaining technology to copy his neural patterns into Puzzlehead, thus basing Puzzlehead's mind on his own.

Puzzlehead raises the classical cyberpunk SF questions about implications of human-like artificial consciousness. However, if Ghost in the Shell explores it on philosophical level, Puzzlehead tries to address ethical and psychological issues surrounding man-made personalities.
