These are recommendations made by tropers for Trigun Fan Fics, all of which have to be signed to stay on the page. Feel free to add a fanfic of your own to the list, but remember to use the template found here.

Do warn when a fanfic may head into non-canon territory. Some people just don't like it, and as we all know, Shipping is Serious Business. You can also add to the current recommendations if you want. Refrain from posting Conversation in the Main Page though; that goes in the discussion page.

Cadence

  • Recommended by: SubversionStation
  • Cadence is a great writer who's particularly adept at writing scenes between Rem and the twins, as well as Vash/Meryl fluff (because, in her own words, "I wanted to read some VxM mush and I couldn't find any!!!). Her earlier stories are based on the anime, but she slowly includes more manga-only characters as time goes on. Some especially good works of hers are Drabbles!! and Snow and Sand.

Stories focused on the family and the friendly relationships of the cast. Plot-focused stories or light day-in-the-life stories. Pretty much anything that isn't focused on romance.
See All Ends by JasperK

  • Status: Complete.
  • Pairings: Vash/Meryl, Livio/Chronica
  • Synopsis: "The girls are following Vash again! This time with a camera to capture the events. Only, Vash is proving as slippery as usual, much to their frustration. But why is he avoiding them? A tale set after the events in the Trigun Manga. Warning: Spoilers for both Anime and Manga."
  • Comments: An action-packed epic length fic that is a superbly well-written, well-planned, and in depth interpretation of Trigun post-manga. This is quite possibly the best continuation fic that I've ever had the luck to encounter. Fans who have only seen the anime may be confused.

Plants in the City by Sailor Lilith_chan
  • Recommended by: Shadsie
  • Status: Dead
  • Synopsis: An Alternate Universe/Elseworlds of Trigun which posits the question; "What if Project SEEDS never got off the ground? The result is the cast of Trigun (characters from both the anime and the manga) living their haphazard and dangerous lives in a dingy, polluted mega-city on a dying Earth. Chapters alternate between narration by Wolfwood, third-person narration, and diary entries that give the reader little glimpses into the past.

  • Status: Complete
  • Warnings: Sex, violence, rape, (past)child abuse and hints of incest. This is DARK.
  • Pairings: Legato/Wolfwood, Milly/Wolfwood, Wolfwood/Vash, and implied Knives/Vash.
  • Synopsis: In a world where instead of being a priest/assassin, Wolfwood is a detective, the golden boy of the July City police force. He and his partner, Vash Saverem, are investigating a serial killer nicknamed Picasso after the way he leaves his victims looking... abstract, to say the least. Milly Thompson, an old friend of Wolfwood, is being stalked and is slated to be Picasso's next victim- until he takes an interest in Wolfwood instead. Thus begins a game of cat and mouse with Wolfwood trying to stop a madman obsessed with him while wrestling with his complicated relationship with Vash. And Vash isn't quite the carefree goofball he seems...

Weather the Storm by Ormandria

  • Synopsis: Brothers in blood, enemies in mind. Can Knives really be redeemed or will he be killed before Vash even gets the chance to try?
  • Pairings: Vash/Marill, Milly/Wolfwood(Dead), Knives/OC
  • Warning: violence

Stories focused on the romantic relationships between the cast.
Tension by SmutWithPlot
  • Recommended by: Lordginger
  • Status: Active
  • Pairings: Vash/Meryl
  • Warnings: Rated M for violent or sexual themes and scenes, including attempted rape.
  • Synopsis: A somewhat more serious take on Vash and Meryl; Meryl's impressions and understandings of Vash throughout their journey. Follows 26 Episode story structure, fairly strong adherence to canon.
  • Comments: A novelization of the story from Meryl's POV, with the insurance girls given a greater deal of characterization, agency, influence and focus in each episode. Excellent expansion of each episode's plot, characters and themes makes this a very gripping read, with the author slotting in original characters in so naturally that you wonder why they weren't a part of the original story to begin with. However, keep in mind that it updates very slowly.

Forever Mine by Aine of Knockaine

  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Vash is back and his brother has agreed to 'try' and see his point of view. Now that everything is finally working out, will he tell Meryl how he feels and have the fairytale ending? Maybe. Then again maybe not, especially with Vash's luck. Post-Anime.

  • Crossover with: Cowboy Bebop & Outlaw Star
  • Status: Hiatus
  • Synopsis: Both crews of the Bebop & Outlaw Star travel to Planet Gunsmoke to hunt down and score their biggest bounty yet; Vash the Stampede.
  • Comments: A short but good fanfic that features most of the characters from their respective source, with the addition of an OC. Fun interactions while keeping everyone in-character.

Distant Cousins by CrossingTheFourthWall
  • Recommended by: eagle109
  • Status: In-progress
  • Crossover: Trigun
  • Synopsis: Somehow, Vash and Knives wind up on Gaia instead of Gunsmoke (and Knives not dying), and in the process of trying to figure things out, they encounter a barely coherent Cloud suffering from mako poisoning and a certain alien that shouldn't be cohabitating in his mind. Vash, being the All-Loving Hero that he is, somehow saves Cloud and is delighted to explore the green world of Gaia. Cloud just wants to find his friends and ditch the twins, but luck isn't on his side. Knives, he who believes Humans Are Bastards and Humans Are Insects, is not pleased at all of being dragged along.
