Tinsnip on Archive of Our Own is a high quality and recent contributor to Deep Space Nine fanworks. Her works include Garak/Bashir shipping fics, gen and shipping stories in the Deep Dish Nine Universe, and a tie in to Una McCormack's novels.

    General Fics
Stories focused on the family and the friendly relationships of the cast. Plot-focused stories or light day-in-the-life stories. Pretty much anything that isn't focused on romance.
The Brave Little Tailor in the Pale Moonlight by Cardie (a.k.a. Henrietta Wotton)
  • Recommended by Maso Tey, and Cryptic Mirror
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: "In the Pale Moonlight" from Garak's perspective (and as a fairy tale!).

Scorched Earth by Una McCormack

  • Recommended by Troper Jysella and Vash Ti
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: AU – Enabran Tain's plan to eliminate the Founder homeworld is successful, and Garak joins the newly-ascended Obsidian Order as it takes over Cardassia... and has some serious doubts while doing it. It's of the "long and plotty" AU variety, and utilizes original characters very well. It's also one of the few fics where a canon character has kids that didn't make me want to kick things. If the author's name looks familiar it's because she's written professional Star Trek novels, including The Never Ending Sacrifice.). This is superb, as all McCormack's writing is.

Standardized by Babel (aka Dilly R)

  • Recommended by Troper Jysella
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Snapshots from Julian Bashir's life, from three to thirty-two.

Internment Camp 317 by Jewels

  • Recommended by Troper Jysella

  • Synopsis: Bashir's time in the Dominion prison camp.

you are receding by tinsnip

  • Recommended by Maxwell_Edison
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: "I could've ended up like Sarina, but I was lucky—my DNA re-sequencing didn't have any unintended side effects." But what if it did?

I Picked You by Psilent

  • Recommended by Maxwell_Edison
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: "We weren't... supposed to be friends." Post-"Doctor Bashir, I Presume". Three conversations Julian doesn't know how to have.

  • Recommended by Time Traveler Jessica
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: In the wake of a devastating Jem'Hadar rebellion, Mirror Universe Weyoun and his crew board a Jem'Hadar ship in a strange area of space.

The Viewless Winds by Stoplight Delight

  • Recommended by error-cascade
  • Status: Ongoing
  • Synopsis: A canon compliant but twisty fic about Julian Bashir's months in Internment Camp 371. The story has an amazing update pace, clean writing style, excellent incorporation of real life medical knowledge, and excellent plotting.

The Manipulation of Julian Bashir by The Tystie

  • Recommended by error-cascade
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: After the events of Dr. Bashir, I Presume, Julian faces discrimination and the potential loss of his medical license. Sisko remains his steadfast supporter throughout.

Oswiecim by Gabrielle Lawson

  • Recommended by Marcus S Lazarus
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: The Defiant follows a Dom. ship through time to the darkest era of Earth's history. The Holocaust. Dr. Bashir centric.
  • Notes: Not only a fascinating historical, but a fascinating exploration of all the accompanying issues, ranging from Bashir still dealing with his concerns about how nobody realised he'd been replaced for a month to the sheer horrors of life in a concentration camp (as well as the issues involved in how to get Bashir out of there and capturing the Changeling without unintentionally violating the Temporal Prime Directive and killing someone who shouldn't die).

  • Reflections by Karen D
  • Recommended by Marcus S Lazarus
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Kira, O'Brien and Odo find themselves flung to the far reaches of the galaxy after an accident in the wormhole. Thinking their friends dead, the crew of the station try to cope.
  • Notes: An engaging plot with some excellent OCs and the introduction of a new civilisation; the only real problem is that they never followed it up.

  • Synopsis: Speculation on exactly how and why Garak was exiled to Terok Nor.

Corrupted Files by Antivan Crafts

Palinopsia by neomaumbra
  • Recommended by Sayla 0079
  • Status : Dead; last updated June 2019
  • Synopsis: A fluke occurrence with a transporter brings Jadzia Dax back.

Woven From Your Brown Hair by Hannah

  • Recommended by Flying Raven
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Julian's parents get discovered by the Federation before they can have Julian enhanced. He gets put in the care of his aunt, Innogen Bashir.
  • Notes: An AU, but a really good one. It's writen from the perspective of his aunt, as her life gets turned upside down when she suddenly gets custody of a six year old Julian. The story follows him as he grows up.

    Shipping Fics
Stories focused on romantic relationships between the cast.

  • Synopsis: After Senator Cretak fails to install a Romulan weapons base on one of Bajor's moons, Kira wants nothing to do with her. One heartfelt if cryptic apology and half a dozen shared meals later Kira changes her mind. The two women develop a tenuous relationship, with affection if not full trust.

3% Hydrocortilene by 28ghosts

  • Recommended by error-cascade
  • Status: Complete
  • Parings: Julian Bashir/Ezri Dax
  • Synopsis: A short little fic about bad life decisions, and the lingering suggestion that Ezri and Julian are just settling for each other.

The Taking Series by Allerleirauh

  • Recommended by error-cascade
  • Status: Dormant
  • Parings: Julian Bashir/Elim Garak
  • Synopsis: A long, plotty AU wherein the Federation appeases the Dominion, the Cardassians and Bajorans work together post Occupation, and Julian Bashir falls in love.

The Ballad of Keiko O'Brien by Kirayoshi

    Crossover Fics

Through a Temple by Desert Chocolate

  • Recommended by: Sithking Zero
  • Status: Dormant
  • Crossover with: Mass Effect.
  • Synopsis: The Normandy and its crew are forced into the Trekverse by the Reapers. The Defiant is there to meet them. Now, two sets of very similar groups are forced together, fighting for whats right. In between just hanging out of course.
    • Sithking Zero: An excellent story that doesn't look down on the Mass Effect side of things simply because they don't have super duper magical hypertechnology, as so many fanfics sadly do. Shows just how similar the two casts are, while allowing improvements to come naturally to both sides. Desperately needs a Tropes Page.
