Fanfic Recs: My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic Humans
Go back to the show's main fanfic recommendation page here.

These have their own page:

All-American Girl by Shinzakura
  • Recommended by Hidden Nimbus, Gentlemens Dame 883, autobot, HeyLookImAUser, ipaddressconflict
  • Synopsis: Rarity’s two-week old daughter is accidently sent to the Human world and is raised by humans as an American citizen, named DJ. Then fifteen years later, Equestria finally manages to find DJ again and attempts to return her to her “real” family. The story follows DJ many years later.
  • Comments: Best described as MLP as written for adults, and I don't mean that in the porno way. There's a lot of weighty stuff in this series and it's definitely one of those "you'll either love it or hate it" fics.
    • Also, thanks to its sidestory anthology Be Human and the prequel Polarity: A Tale of Two Sisters one of the most massive FiM fanfics out there as well as a hugely developed universe.

Anthropology by Jason the Human
  • Recomended by Poptard, Commando Dude, REV 6 Pilot, Troliolio, ombranox, Shinzakura, Korodzik, Dogman15, Computer Sherpa, GespenstKAF
  • Synopsis: "Humans. Truth or myth? Ancient lost civilization or just an old pony's tale? No pony has ever seen one, and most haven't even heard of them. But Lyra knows that these wonderful creatures are more than just old legends, and she's going to find out... and possibly drive her roommate insane in the process."
  • Comments: Short, but very fascinating. It's a story about Lyra interested humans but doesn't actually feature them in Equestria no thanks to Discord.
    • Seconded. It's very interesting to see a development of how much Lyra is affected by her interest in humans, and that there seems to be a complex backstory to "us", and how Equestria deals with it, doesn't hurt either. If you like Lyra, you'll be wasting time if you don't read this story.
    • ...The fic goes farther than that, but to avoid spoilers, let's just say that the above is but the tip of an iceberg.

Arddun Lleuad and Arddun Lleuad 2: Chwe Goleadau - Six Lights by Pride
  • Recommended by Korodzik, Metroidmewtwo, Shinzakura
  • Arddun Lleuad Synopsis: A "human in Equestria fic". Where the protagonist and Luna fall in love.In other words, it's a story of one Chester, dropped into an odd fairy-tale world, who eventually finds somepony who needs him and loves him. Then things get sour...
    • Chwe Goleadau Synopsis: The sequel to Arddun Lleuad, it's an epic adventure/horror/romance story. Luna and Chester face a horrendous manipulative villain, who is threatening Equestria and eventually everything else with something far worse than mere conquest.
  • Comments: The premise may seem unappealing, but this is a really excellent work of literature, with great writing (worth checking out for this alone), and averting the typical obnoxious, psychologically improbable protagonist. It succeeds at making you feel a strong emotion or two. On the other hand, it is primarily about a human and a horse in love, and while nothing explicit ever happens, the descriptions of their contacts are sensual enough to make one uncomfortable under the collar.
    • Chwe Goleadau, like its predecessor, is quite a stellar piece of literature (and it's just the draft version; had the author had time to polish it before he decided to leave the fandom, it might have been one of the best-looking fanfics ever written.) However, be warned - it is very grimdark, and halfway through turns into essentially an endless stream of Tear Jerker and Nightmare Fuel. Also, there are still sensual descriptions of the (still non-explicit) romantic contacts, which might make you uneasy.

  • Article 2 By Muppetz
    • Recommended by Commando Dude, REV 6 Pilot
    • Synopsis: The Princesses find an alien creature barely clinging to life at the scene of a terrifying crash. Can the Combined Power of the Elements of Harmony save it, or more importantly, should they save it? Will the arrival of this strange creature tear Equestria apart?
      • Comments: Very well written and fleshed out, one of the few quality humans in Equestria stories. Does an excellent job at illustrating how two very different sapient species would have trouble interacting with each other upon suddenly meeting.
      • Seconded, and heavily. Unlike the usual "human arrives in Equestria and makes many friends" plot, this story deals not only with the tension of the meeting of the two species, it also depicts how much their very natures clash. It also shows how the pony government would deal with such a strange incident, something that is very rarely put in the spotlight. Even though it's only six chapters in and it could use a beta reader due to writing flaws, I can't stop re-reading it.

The Ballad Of Echo The Diamond Dog
    • Recommended by Vaughnd22
    • Synopsis: I always wanted to go to Equestria. When I got the chance, I took the deal without reading the fine print. To my surprise, I didn't arrive there as a pony, or even as a human. It seems I get to view this world from a different perspective then what I've imagined.
      • Comments: A great story, along with its sequal. The author mixed humor, action, and drama very well together.

    Becoming Ponies
    • Recommended by [Masterweaver
    • Synopsis: Discord's latest evil plot has come to Earth; many people wake up with the body of a pony and struggle to retain themselves against the overwhelming personality of their counterparts. Lauren Faust, in the form of Princess Celestia, asks the Mane Cast counterparts to head up to New York to resolve the situation, but it's not going to be that easy....
      • Comments: A promising and mostly well written collaboration with quite a bit of philosophy.

The Best Of All Possible Worlds by McPoodle
    • Recommended by Poptard
    • Synopsis:
The royal court of Canterlot welcomes its newest member with open forelegs: the human philosopher Voltaire, from Earth.
On Earth, Voltaire is known as the greatest enemy of tyranny in the history of literature, and a legend in his own mind.
On Equestria, the court betting pool is giving him a week before the Princess banishes him to the Moon.
      • Comments: Very funny, very well-researched, and very plausible. The author takes the real world Voltaire and thrusts him into Equestria (a few centuries ago), where he can influence Celestia into making the show what is is today. Very strong and consistent characterization for everyone and an interesting plot are just a few of the high points of this ngoing story.

    Chains by BookyBrony
    • Recommended by Misterian
    • Synopsis: Humans have been enslaved by Ponies for centuries. Owning them is either for labor or social status. Seeking to get their daughter a friend, Mr. and Mrs. Sparkle purchase a human slave to be a companion for their young studious daughter.
      • Comments: a highly intriguing and surprisingly expansive Alternate Universe story involving the human race placed under bondage by the Ponies of Equestria, and while surprisingly follows much of MLP's canon despite the dark twist, is still a well-realized dramatic and considerably dark story that subtly made Equestria into something of a Crapsaccharine World, if only from the point of view of the said enslaved humans.

    Consequences Of Unoriginality by Andoriol
    • Recommended by Clato Lawa, p0nypanda, Abstract Indigo
    • Synopsis: When Emeris Fillson is transported to Equestria, he finds himself turned not just into a pony but into an Alicorn, and a Gary Stu at that. Thanks to a curse that Emeris calls the Gary-Stu-ness Effect, or GSE, he is better than anypony at any of their special talents (especially when in direct competition), is loved obsessively by everypony he comes across aside from Celestia and, worst of all, is a Doom Magnet that continually brings devastation to Equestria in the form of monsters that only he can stop, and not without collateral damage.
After two years of this nightmare, Emeris and Celestia manage to break the curse and turn him into a Unicorn/Earth pony hybrid - and then the story begins, as Emeris attempts to make up for all the trouble he has unintentionally brought to Ponyville.
    • Also has a Scrapbook Story spinoff by the same author, Letters From a Fascinated but Frustrated Scientist.

  • The Conversion Bureau: Not Alone by Starman Ghost
    • Recommended by Gentlemens Dame 883 , Dialga X
    • Synopsis: A different take on The Conversion Bureau. When the Equestria landform first appeared, humanity welcomed the ponies. When their imperialism is exposed, though, humanity gears up to take the fight to them. Both sides have their saints and sinners, with no blanket "ponies bad" or "humans good". Uses multiple forms of presentation such as newscasts and postings in addition to standard prose.

    Friendship is Optimal by Iceman
    • Recommended by Abstract Indigo, Rory O’Kane
    • Status: complete
    • Synopsis: Hanna, the CEO of Hofvarpnir Studios, just won the contract to write the official My Little Pony MMO. Hanna has built an A.I. Princess Celestia and given her one basic drive: to satisfy everybody's values through friendship and ponies. Princess Celestia will satisfy your values through friendship and ponies, and it will be completely consensual.
      • Comments: A chilling read on what could be achieved by a relatively benevolent A.I. who merely wants to satisfy you. Though friendship and ponies.

  • The Great Slave King by TalonMach5
    • Recommended by Abstract Indigo
    • Synopsis: A Human in Equestria fic, where after having escaped as a 'guest' of the Diamond Dogs and vowing revenge, Andrew King stumbles across the Well of Eternity and ascends to godhood. Styling himself as 'The Slave King', from here the story follows his rule as Lord of the Earth as he attempts to gain his revenge and outmaneuver his fellow deities.
    • Comments: A truly excellent example of world building and character development. While the premise of a Hi E fic where the main character becomes a god immediately screams of a Gary Stu, it's very well executed.

  • Hands by Andrew Joshua Talon
    • Recommended by: autobot
    • Synopsis: A slightly more realistic take on the "Human in Equestria" story concept. ... For a given value of "realistic."
    • Comments: Another MLP:Fi M fic from the glorious man who brought you Beating the Heat and Progress.

    Heroes And Allies by Lynolius
    • Recommended by Dialga X
    • Synopsis: In 2012, the United States military makes First Contact with Equestria thanks to a military experiment that creates a portal linking Earth and Equestria. Soon, peaceful talks between the two worlds are established. But the US and eventually the rest of the world is dragged into a war between Equestria and the Liberation Alliance.

    My Little Dashie by ROBCakeran53
    • Recommended by Salnax1, Poptard, the Ace Of Scarabs, Revelo, Miar, enistoja, omegaman, Awesome Black Guy
    • Synopsis: A nameless man lives alone in a dying city, in a world of apathy and gray, starving for color. One day, during one of his many lonely walks on the silent streets, he finds a box containing a young pegasus filly with a rainbow mane.

  • No, I Am NOT a Brony, GET ME OUTTA EQUESTRIA!!! by BronyWriter
    • Recommended by Clato Lawa, p0nypanda
    • Synopsis: TD Harrison Powell, a 20-year-old Elementary Education major, is transported into Equestria as an accidental side effect of one of Celestia's experiments. Having disliked the show in his own world, he does not take being stuck inside it well...
    • Comments: This story is unusual among HIE-fics for featuring a human who is aware of the show, doesn't like it, and is not quickly turned around by the experience of being in Equestria. Indeed, by the end of Chapter 7, TD has justifiable grudges against all of the Mane Six aside from Fluttershy. So far, this is a well-written and promising story, doing a pretty good job of portraying Grey and Gray Morality.
    • Now has a sequel in progress, Wanderings of a Non-Brony, as well as a darker alternate ending, The Breaking of a Non-Brony, and a happier. very familiar, alternate ending, TD's Little Rarity.

Pink Personal Hell And Altering Fate by Digitalpotato.
    • Recommended by Purple Shirt
    • Status: Complete, one-shot.
    • Synopsis: In a Shout Out to the Haruki Murakami story Hard Boiled Wonderland And The End Of The World, this fic alternates between two narratives - Pink Personal Hell, an Odd Couple comedy involving Pinkie Pie who had appeared in our world to bring a little cheer to a man named Dominic's life, and Altering Fate, a Slice of Life story where a blue unicorn named Nickel Steel is sent to Ponyville to live, trying to find his place in a society that seems alien to him. Eventually, the two become one. Story is over 26,000 words, so reading it might take some time. Rule of Funny is in effect.

Ponyfall - a Collaboration of Self-Inserts In Equestria — Discord is (somehow) set free once more. Once again, he hides the Elements of Harmony and this time, he doesn't give a clue as to where they are. Their six bearers and the Princesses confront him in battle. In the midst of that, he manages to grab hold of Princess Luna. However, just as he was about to cast a spell, she does so as well and it results in a bright pink explosion, which engulfs everypony (and some who aren't ponies) in Ponyville and beyond...

On Earth — Imagine if you will, that you were out for a walk one day, a supposedly normal day like any other, when suddenly, the sky becomes a bright shade of pink for a few minutes, and you start to smell the aroma of chocolate fudge. While everyone is panicking you search for the source of the strange smell. You find a mysterious stranger (an Equestrian) passed out on the ground. Who is this strange person, and what will you do?

  • Project: Sunflower by Hoopy McGee
    • Recommended by: Dogman15, ComputerSherpa
    • Synopsis: "It is the year 2038, and the Earth is slowly being consumed by a space-borne monstrosity dubbed the Black Tide, which is using nanotechnology to remake the planet into something hideously alien. Erin Olsen works for Project Harmonics, humanity's last-ditch effort to find a new world before the Tide can wipe them out. But when that world is found, and it turns out to be occupied, Erin will need to find the courage to face the unknown in order to save the inhabitants of both worlds."
      • Reader's addendum: Erin volunteers to be an explorer of this new world, using nanobots to turn her body into a pony. She makes friends in Ponyville and tries to get a job, all while learning more about the world that humans may have to immigrate to. Highly recommended, especially due to the later chapters. Lots of science fiction and depictions of future technology. Give it a try!

  • Sophistication And Betrayal by Drefsab
    • Recommended by Abstract Indigo
    • Synopsis: A Human in Equestria fic where the the protagonist and Rarity have fallen in love, set to the backdrop of a jealous old friend of Rarity threatening her business, and an increasingly complicated relationship between Rarity, the protagonist, and Fluttershy.
    • Comments: Readers should be warned that there are quite a few explicit scenes. The second person narrative might also be off-putting to some, but if you can look past these and the premise of a human and a pony in love, it's an example of some excellent relationship building, as well as realistic and interesting characterization.

Through The Eyes Of Another Pony by CardsLafter
    • Recommended by Bugsydor, Freyaday, Mister Tulip
    • Synopsis: A self-insert human-in-equestria fanfic written for the express purpose of showing that these so-called toxic tags that normally doom a fanfic to failure can be used to good effect. The author wakes up to find himself in Equestria, meets the Mane 6, the princesses, and a bevy of OC's, and faces off against The Nightmare (the force that corrupted Luna into Nightmare Moon); wisecracking and taking aside glances all along the way.

The Son Of The Emperor by No More Sanity

    • Synopsis: "We all know about stories where Humans enter Equestria. But what about a world where Equestria is in the Human world? • Recommended by IMpish, autobot, Clato Lawa
    • Synopsis: An OC Human in Equestria shipfic. Lero has been trapped in Equestria by mysterious forces, and is now merely trying to make a life and family for himself while among a new species and culture. WARNING: Explicit sexual content.
    • Comments: Rather than go off on crazy adventures and fight evil, this story focuses on cultural misunderstandings and is driven by character interaction and development. It explores human vs pony psychology and rituals, and Values Dissonance has a very strong presence. It should also be noted that while most HiE fics focus on the human, this story is told from the point of view of Rainbow Dash. While it is eventually hinted that Lero was sent to Equestria by The Fair Folk, it never factors into the story aside from the emotional ramifications.
    • It now has a Scrapbook Story sequel written by Twilight Sparkle, two collections of side stories set at various points in the timeline, and a one-shot dealing with Lero's taboo against public nudity.

  • The Ballad of Echo the Diamond Dog by Rust
    • Recommended by Sithking Zero
    • Synopsis: I always wanted to go to Equestria. When I got the chance, I took the deal without reading the fine print. To my surprise, I didn't arrive there as a pony, or even as a human. It seems I get to view this world from a different perspective then what I've imagined. My name is Echo. I am a Diamond Dog.
    • Comments: Sithking Zero: A very, VERY well-written story that defies a lot of fandom tropes- appearing as a human or pony, instantly loved by everyone, parties in Ponyville... blah blah blah. The main character, who takes the name of Echo, arrives in the middle of a jungle via Discord, hundreds of miles from Ponyville, as a Diamond Dog, one of the most reviled races in Equestria. What's more, he gets his throat slit by Ahuitzotl five minutes in, and has to be rescued by Daring Do, but he's rendered mute in the process. Put in a village of racists, the son of two extremely important figures of Equestrian History, and a nest of Hydras, and Hilarity Ensues.

    • Comments: What stands out about this story is that Lyle has arrived in the middle of events he's familiar with, having watched Season 2, and is able to cause deviations from canon with yet to be revealed results. Also, he's a 22-year-old man trapped in a young, pre-Cutie Mark colt's body.

    • Comments: Being Exactly What It Says on the Tin, this fic is a great philosophical examination of the culture clash that would happen if humanity and Equestria ever met face to face. Many good points are brought up and discussed in an extensive but clear way, leading to an extremely solid character interaction and development. This is the sort of fic that will have you thinking quite a bit after you read it, and I couldn't recommend it more than I already do.

  • Nine Knackered Souls
    • Recommended by Poptard, Kalikimaka
    • Synopsis: MLP:FiM and RvB crossover. Post RvB Revelation and Season 1 of FiM. After a freak accident involving teleporters* sends them to Equestria, the Red and Blue teams * must join forces with the the keepers of the Elements of Harmony to find a way back home and defeat an old nemesis. Rated T for swearing and violence that comes with {{Red vs. Blue}}.
    • Note: While it may be prone to grammar errors and lack of breaks (at first), it's a pretty decent story that can be appreciated by both Red vs. Blue fans and Friendship is Magic fans. Or at least the former and fans of both. Is AU as it does not consider Red vs. Blue's Season 9 since Epsilon-Church and Tex also somehow make it to Ponyville.

  • Retired to Equestria by YetAnotherMask
    • Recommended by Liirian
    • Synopsis:Retiring isn't always easy. Especially when your job title is Evil Overlord. Most of the time retirement from that particular position comes on the sharp end of an opportunistic hero's sword. But Damien didn't survive the past six centuries by playing by the rules. His retirement plans involve running. Running from his country, his continent, and his very universe to escape Fate's long reach. And what better place to run to in an attempt to live peacefully than the utopian land of Equestria?
    • Comments:An excellent, and often hilarious, story about what happens when an incredibly Genre Savvy Evil Overlord, one who follows the Evil Overlord List to the letter, decides to spend the rest of his (many) years in Equestria. Recommend it to anyone who loves Magnificent Bastards and clever writing.

    • Synopsis: A human has been teleported to Equestria after a lightning bolt struck him. The ponies of Ponyville had never seen anything like him before. Full of fear and uncertainty, all of Ponyville, except for the Mane 6 and Spike, avoided him. The human, with the help of the Mane 6, must earn Ponyville's friendship before a way back home is found.
    • Comments: An Hi E fic that's well-written, hilarious, and has its bits of drama to fit in perfectly, making it a well-balanced story. If you're looking for something other than the generic, this is the fic for you. Completely redone as of March 1, 2013.

    • Synopsis: Pulled into a strange world where myth and legends are real. Unable to communicate to the native creatures here, or even able to move for that matter... How is a human supposed to adapt to this strange world, or even manage to keep his sanity when he is encased in stone.
    • Comments: Another Hi E fic that's well-written. It is also insanely funny with the protaigonists thoughts, but what else can a guy do when he's been trapped by Discord in his stone prison thing?

    • Synopsis: Daphne has tried to live her life as any normal teenage girl would, focusing on school and the intricacies of adolescent life in an effort to forget her more imaginative childhood. Now, however, her kid sister has been kidnapped by forces she cannot understand and she is forced to chase after her into a land she had once thought only make-believe. Cast adrift in a strange and magical world, she must find her sister before she can use the Golden Bridle to take control of Equestria as the pawn of a dark and terrible master.
    • Comments: Most of what is written so far focuses on the protagonist's memories of a pony she met. It's left ambiguous as to whether or not she had imagined it at first, but magical events pop up towards the end of the chapter. Of course, the cover image pretty much says explicitly that she's going to wind up a pony...

  • Arrow-18 Mission Logs: A Lone Ranger and Arrow 18 Mission Logs: Sparkle's Notes by Admiral Tiger Claw
    • Recommended by: autobot, Computer Sherpa
    • Synopsis: The star system Omega Centauri was just another oddity on a map to scentists in the not too distant future. However when they found the star was orbiting an earth-sized, earth-like planet instead of a black hole as its motion had suggested, a mission was scrambled to investigate this most unusual of celestial behaviors. Hamstrung by politics, and nearly crippled before it began, the 'Lone Ranger' mission was reduced to just one crew member and left to his own devices. These are the logs of Arrow 18 and its lone commander. This information is classified TOP SECRET by the Global Space Agency. Do NOT tell the princess.
    • Sparkle's Notes synopsis: It occurred one peaceful night. Half of Equestria awoke to the sound like a double-shot thunderclap. A percussion heard in the skies and rattling windows from Apploosa, to Canterlot, to Ponyville. Nopony knew what it was or what it heralded for the world as it drew a line across the nation. For Twilight Sparkle, this isolated incident might have faded from memory after a time, if not for the ...strange rumors of a creature sitting on the hill on the outskirts of town. These are her thoughts given written form. These are Sparkle's Notes. Report EVERYTHING to the Princess.
    • Comments: A very unique take on an Hi E. At first, Twilight/Smarty Pants/Twinkle Butt and the pilot communicate using MATH. Also, Ponies.... IN SPACE! The one from Twilight's perspective is just as awesome with the sheer glee being audible as she realizes the dots are numbers and math equations.

    • Synopsis: A short one-shot featuring Exactly What It Says on the Tin. Not offensive.
    • Comments: There are a couple of fics out there that try to combine ponies and Christianity; this one is non-controversial, and well worth the read, though the abundancy of Hitchhiker's Guide-style humor in the short story may be kind of annoying.

    • Synopsis: It is summer of 2020, the popular TV show "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" has finished its eighth, and what appears to be final, season. Bronies all over the world fear for their safety but won't denounce the show and lifestyle that has brought them so much happiness. Eventually, the bronies decide to flee Earth. This is the story of how they made it to Equestria, bringing their fun-loving shenanigans with them.

You, the readers will decide their personality, their dreams, their... everything really. So lets get started!
    • Comments: Pre-Series. Readers are able to vote on what the kid gets or who helps him apparantly. Also, the best way I can describe it is My Little Dashie except in reverse.

Oh and here's a little heads up, 'you' are a dumb ass when it comes to girls.
    • Comments: A pretty good slice of life, High School AU fic. Trust me when I say the main character (currently nameless to become an Audience Surrogate, but bears a definable gender, personality, design to a lesser extent, etc.) is basically made of awesome, and he more or less makes this fic.

    • Synopsis: Mathews Fore is a simple man. He has a decent job with decent pay. A rather nice little house at the end of the road. A "dead-end" if you will. The only problem? He hates lack of security, although everyone in his neighborhood has a tendency to watch the actions of eachother, so no theft has gone unpunished...by them. Due to his fears of security, he erected a very tall fence around his house that he further covered with a green cover, so nobody can see through it. His yard is pretty huge in itself. However, he starts to feel lonely. He doesn't want a woman, nor is he gay, so he doesn't want a man. He just wants something to hug. He doesn't want a pet, but he doesn't want to adopt a kid either. He just wants something adorable to hug and kiss on the forehead. Something intelligent. But what? One night, there was the announcement of a meteor shower, so Mathews decides to take his chances and wish upon a star, just like in his childhood stories. He gets what he wants, but is it really worth it?
    • Comments: Kinda a happier, more comedy filled version of My Little Dashie except with Nightmare Moon.

    • Synopsis: Humans... humans are such a bizarre race. Capable of the greatest benevolence and the worst atrocities. And yet, they're so very predictable. • Synopsis: Troy is twenty years old, attending college, a causal[sic] hiker, has no idea where he is, and is desperately struggling to survive. Seeking to escape a mountain forest, he tries to make his way to civilization and safety. Only to get more lost than he can possibly imagine. He attempts to adapt to this strange, impossible new world he has entered after wandering beyond the edge of the map.
    • Comments: Think of Man vs. Wild, except even harsher and in an alien world. Troy has to survive while at the same time not knowing what the resources he finds can do to him, the locals don't understand his language, and magic hurts him to the point of leaving him temporarily crippled (though, in one case, it was better than the alternative), while at the same time he has to deal with his sanity going down the drain.

    • Synopsis: Fantastic, I finally get to visit my favorite cast of awesome talking ponies to have one small thing keeping me from enjoying it to its fullest. I CAN"T FREAKING INTERACT WITH ANYTHING. I guess being a ghost in Equestria isn't the worst thing that could have happened, at least I can shadow my favorite ponies and see what going on in their lives. Heh, I guess I've become the ultimate stalker, I do miss having someone to talk to that wasn't me, myself or I though.
    • Comments: An oddly interesting tale where at first only foals and animals can see the ghost human. But, if he dreamwalks, which is quite painful for him, others can see him.

    • Synopsis: A freak lightning storm, strange lights, an unassuming, yet mysterious stone obelisk... What do these things have to do with an average college student from North Tonawanda? At first, nothing. But when nineteen year old Connor finds himself at the center of a cosmic coincidence, he probably should have left well enough alone. Now, he's stranded in an impossible world filled with real magic and populated by sentient creatures calling themselves "ponies." A stranger in a strange land, Connor's yearning for answers and a way back to Earth will try both his patience and his sanity in the days following his arrival, even with the support of his new equine friends. But as he witnesses his life slowly spiral out of control, he will call into question his definition of home, humanity, destiny, and what it means to truly belong.
    • Comments: Admittedly, this one takes a while to really stand out from the HIE crowd, but the main character is likable and well-developed, and there's a very big Wham Episode by the end of the third day.

Without an understanding of their language how will she make her way in the world, will she even be able to ever communicate with them? Why was she even brought into the world and is there even a way for her to get home?
    • Comments: This story stands out for keeping entirely within the point-of-view of the human protagonist yet managing to portray all of the canon characters accurately in spite of the language barrier, which the author has not taken any kind of shortcut with.
