Transferred parts of "Comments" to "Add Review."

* ''Comments'': Do not let the all-lower-case title and summary use put you off, as this does not carry over into the work itself. This is truly inspired crackfic, as good an example as I've read in any fandom. Uproariously funny, loaded to the gills with in-jokes and very knowledgeable of the play (as well as making sly reference to ''Theatre/RosencrantzAndGuildensternAreDead'' by Creator/TomStoppard), makes good use of unifying devices. Written in script format.

[[WMG:{{Crossover}}s]]

[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/23399053 The Play's the Thing: a Shakespeare Mix-Up]] by Onmyliteraturebullshitagain
* ''Recommended by'': subitofortissimo
* ''Status'': Complete
* ''Pairing'': Hamlet/Horatio, Romeo/Juliet, other canon pairings
* ''Crossover with'': Technically every other Shakespeare play; most prominently ''Theatre/RomeoAndJuliet'', with episodes touching on ''Theatre/{{Othello}}'', ''Theatre/{{Macbeth}}'', ''Theatre/TheMerchantOfVenice'', ''Theatre/MuchAdoAboutNothing'', ''Theatre/AMidsummerNightsDream'' and others.
* ''Synopsis'': When a forgotten Shakespeare collection gets a bit confused about its plot lines, Hamlet and Horatio find themselves thrown into other stories and have to muddle their way through these new plots and the characters they're supposed to play. Soon joined by Juliet, this lost trio works their way through multiple plays and roles as they try to get back to Denmark and track down the misplaced Romeo. But Hamlet's still haunted mentally, Horatio's still carrying some buried feelings, and Juliet is willing to do anything to get back to her husband. Together, they'll changes the Shakespeare canon (at least in this one printing) forever. A humorous exploration from an English professor who wanted a chance to redeem Hamlet (her beloved emo dumpster goblin) and see just what Shakespeare's characters could do when faced with the wrong stories.
* ''Comments'': A very well written crossover adventure with a lot of attention to detail in the characterisation, with the various characters reacting to their bizarre new surroundings in ways that are pretty realistic to the way Shakespeare wrote them. Hamlet's journey with Horatio and Juliet is profoundly transformative, and Juliet's resourcefulness really shines in this story, as does Ophelia's. Very enjoyable read, full of wit, humour and heartwarming.

* ''Status'': Complete
* ''Pairing'': Hamlet/Ophelia
* ''Synopsis'': Hamlet returns to Denmark to find Ophelia, his one and only love, as dead as poor Yorick. He's angry, grief-stricken, savage, remorseful...and then, suddenly, just a little bit hopeful. An alternate ending to the classic tale that might just give Hamlet his happy ending.
* ''Comments'': An AU where Ophelia survives her drowning. Aside from some grammatical/spelling errors, this is a great read if you've ever wondered how a happy ending might play out for Hamlet and co. (with a few twists and turns along the way). Highly recommended.

* Reccomended by Tropers/TheGreatConversation
* ''Status:'' Complete
* ''Pairings:'' Hamlet/Horatio (with Hamlet/Rosencrantz/Guildenstern and each corollary of that combo)
* ''Synopsis:'' Prequel. The hitherto untold story of how Hamlet made the acquaintances of "brothers in (each other's) arms" Rosencrantz and Guildenstern at college in Wittenberg and how they eventually introduced him to the university's most prolific student, Horatio. Focuses on the developing relationship between Hamlet and Horatio, with the Danish prince falling fast and hard and agonizing over whether Horatio feels the same way (interspersed with plenty of Hamlet/Rosen-stern {{lemon}}). Canon era, 100% canon-compliant.
* ''Comments:'' This is the Hamlet/Horatio fic you've been waiting for. The characterization is marvelous, the language manages to evoke the source material without being pretentious, and the pacing and plotting are immaculate. A rare and refreshing college fic that ''isn't'' a modern-day AU.
