A Touhou Project Fanfic, written in French by Troper Wax.
The full name is Touhou Musouhen ~ Unprecedented Catastrophe. Or, if you translate the French title, Misadventures of a Unique.
Essentially a Darker and Edgier Self-Insert Fic that narrates the history of the Author Avatar, who ends up lost in Gensokyo after accidentally going through the Hakurei border in July 22nd, 2012. The fiction revolves around the Author Avatar's inner conflicts with hate, and two different incidents.
It was started in November 23rd, 2011, the fic is currently at chapter 9. And it's officially dead.

No English translation is in progress. Every quote is translated from French by Word of God.
This work contains examples of:
- All Your Powers Combined: How Marisa and Alice react to an exploration ship flying around them. Combine their powers and use a "Malice Spark" that one-shots it.
- Anti-Hero: Musou is a major cynic at the start, oozes sarcasm and abrasiveness, but he's a good guy at heart.
- Anticlimax Boss: First bonus only: the team made of Nouwa and "the Traveler". Reimu and Luke, upon seeing that they are more or less cheating and using cards that are completely overpowered compared to the rest of the bonus, decide to cheat right back and win.
- Author Avatar: Musou.
- Big Bad: Despite Mima being billed as the Big Bad for all intents and purposes, Nouwa has far more plot prominence than her.
- Brainwashed and Crazy: Maou Brimstone has a device at the back of his head, which functions as his brainwashing as well as intel feed.
- Breaking the Fourth Wall: Mid-narration, the Musou Notes speak for either the main character (in case he's not already in the scene) or the author. Or both.
- Suika steals that gimmick and puts a Suika Note in her interlude.
- Cerebus Retcon: Chapter 8 in general. To boot:
- Cirno's bragging is more arrogant and grim, going from "Then you have no chance of passing my test! If you resist my Ultimate Spell Card, you can pass!" to "Hahaha, then I bet I kill you in one shot! I'll let your corpse pass!"
- The main character swears a bunch more, and gets censored in return. Also, his injuries are pointed out instead of being merely brushed off by the narration.
- Meiling becomes much more taunting towards the main character and points out that the "trustworthy persons" with whom he could get a free pass don't even exist. Then, when he gets a pass, she mentions that Patchouli may not agree with him going to the Library (Patchouli even muses about Remilia deciding things for her) and gets annoyed with him constantly bumping into her.
- Character Development: Luke is far more confident in this fic than in his own origin fic.
- Nouwa undergoes this rather painfully going from the embodiment of "Musou MUST DIE!" to her own character. Interrupted midway by fiction death, but the first bonus actually shows her first good-hearted laugh.

Completely Different Title: The fic has a Japanese title (Touhou Musouhen), an English title (Unprecendented Catastrophe) and a French title (Mésaventures d'un Unique). The three translate to something different, even though still a bit similar. - Dark Fic: Not that much but some elements are there.
- Darker and Edgier: Zigzagged. The title would make it look like one of the darkest fanfics ever, but the problems happening are not big at all. It now crosses over Old Shame and Take That!.
- Dead to Begin With: The story doesn't end with the main character's death in Chapter 1, even though it was never hidden.
- Downer Ending: Chapter 1: The Hero Dies. Chapter 2's title explains it by ending a sentence started in Chapter 1.Chapter 1: "Hello, cruel world..."
Chapter 2: "... and goodbye, just as fast." - Face–Heel Turn: Since "one guy has somehow managed to arrive in Gensokyo" is rather mild for an incident, several characters decide to make it worse For the Lulz, most of them unknowing of what Nouwa has done.
- Musou himself, when you realize that "Maou" Brimstone is him.
- Failure Hero: Musou never actually wins a battle. His first battle with Nouwa (who would go on to get a similar record) ends inconclusively when he paralyzes her and flees.
- Flashback Nightmare: Chapter 8 has the main character relive Chapter 1 as this. This brings more precision and retcons some aspects.
- Foregone Conclusion: Despite the Retcon status of Chapter 8, the story is still the same, so the main character dies.
- Go-Karting with Bowser: The bonuses (both happen after the plot) were Musou organizing a children's card game and starting the idea of the second sled race.
- Dead Fic: The second bonus has never been completed.
- The Hero Dies: The ending to Chapter 1.
- Important Haircut: Maou Brimstone has one major difference with Musou: short hair, signaling that Musou cut it after his capture.
- Instant Expert: A quite short training sequence in the story indicates that Musou trained offscreen, but he still is able to use danmaku in Chapter 6 while being nearly inept at it before (his first success was in a trance, and he actually had the bullet implode on itself while still within his arm). Shooting energy danmaku is still something that even Reimu doesn't do.
- Knight of Cerebus: Nouwa appears in Chapter 3, with hostile intent (which is actually the first time aside from Musou's sarcasm) and attacks three times before the chapter's closure. She is also responsible for a good portion of the plot, with her personal responsibility in Mima's escaping and the hand she had in completing Marisa's Face–Heel Turn.
- Kudzu Plot: There are so far three plotlines, none concluded: Nouwa, the Dark Tower and the Higher Technology arcs simultaneously. Of course, Nouwa is involved as a main antagonist in the Dark Tower line too, but both lines are put in waiting for the moment.
- Leeroy Jenkins: The main character (because thinking holds back his powers) and Nouwa (in her hate of him). Both result in easy defeats.
- Meaningful Name: The main character is named Musou by the narration, Musou meaning "unique".
It also gives a part of the fic's Japanese title (Musouhen meaning "unique event", or in this case "Musou event"), which makes Musouhen a Protagonist Title. - Non-Indicative Name: Musouhen means unique event. Though, the incidents are both call backs to older Touhou games.
- Pinball Protagonist: Musou is trying his best to get a hold of himself, but the moment the plot starts, he gets shoved around by heroes and villains alike, seeing as he's much weaker and way less quick-witted than friends and opposition alike.
- Retcon: Chapter 8's dream sequences retcon Chapter 1, and it is outright announced before in a Musou Note.
- Self-Insert Fic
- Shout-Out: The main character being a Wrong Genre Savvy outsider is bound to do plenty.
- In the prologue, he responds to Ran trying to bring him to Yukari and threatening to take this to a Spell Card battle with Reimu with this:
"Okay, so I ended up in a land where someone who wants to kidnap people plays card games!"- In Chapter 7, changing worlds every other week makes the main character feel like "ending up in world 8-4 and kicking a dragon's butt so this all ends".
- When faced with the fact that he doesn't have a sword, Musou shapes a lightning bolt into one, like Zeus.
- The One Guy: Averted even though Rinnosuke does not appear. Since the author follows the continuity of one of his friends' Fan Fic, some self-insert characters appear, notably said friend.
- The Unexpected: According to one Touhou-Online comment, Shingyoku's return was an utter surprise."Wait, that... thing's... still alive? Uhm, that is surprising, didn't expect it to come out of the blue like that..."
- Time Skip: Several. It's known the story happens at least a year after the main character comes through the Hakurei Border. Then, Chapter 6 covers a week or two.
- Training from Hell: Youmu first tests Musou by having him run a complete lap around Hakugyokurou, which should take him, according to his estimation, 4 hours, at which point he mentions he mentions that he gets tired easily.
- Translator Microbes: Though, apparently, they only work if you truly mean what you say. Which means that if you're grumbling something that you think won't get understood, it won't be understood.
- Twelve Chapter Fiction: The intention of the author, by Word of God, is to end the story at chapter 12. Though, the existence of chapter 7.5 means there'll possibly be more decimal-numbered chapters, making the trope respected in number only.
- Virtual Soundtrack: On occasion. In the first chapter, the soundtracks were solely taken from Touhou games, but later chapters borrow much more rock soundtracks from Advance Wars: Days of Ruin to Guilty Gear.
- Weirdness Magnet: Sakuya living in the Human Village attracts visits from Remilia.
- What Could Have Been: A lot, since the fic could have been completed...
- Maou Brimstone could have had a grand total of seven fights before being revealed as Musou. The plans switched to him turning crazy on his first battle, and even that didn't go through. Musou was also supposed to have a heel stint as Musou, even though he was Evil vs. Evil going for payback against Chiyuri and Yumemi, and being far more destructive than them.
- There were supposed to be episodes 9.5, and 12.3 focused on completely different and new (Genma's brief appearance in Chapter 3 notwithstanding) characters.
- Reimu was supposed to have a kid, but the kid was not shown and his absence wasn't even Hand Waved as him being taken away for caretaking.
- Musou was supposed to act on his (?) feelings for Sanae, confess in a moment of sanity mid-battle, and go on to lose the fight horribly but still end up going with her.
- Musou was supposed to end Chapter 7.5 by singing an altered version of "Ain't No Grave" to himself in his coma, but this was scrapped due to being cliché and plans changing (also due to him referencing a "pair of angels" as Foreshadowing Komachi and Youmu coming for him, and the plan was changed to him being stopped by Sanae alone).
- Who Writes This Crap?!: Suika hijacks a Musou Note where the author explained having skipped a description by telling him to get back to the writing.
- The Worf Barrage: Kind of lampshaded. Nouwa at first impresses Musou and can even mop the floor with him when he tries to run away, but she never ever actually wins a battle.
