Awesome FanFic Quotes YMMV
is (or rather, was—
it has since been deleted
fanfiction by SiFi270, which is different from other
fanfics for two reasons:
Needs a Better Description Since the original fanfic can no longer be read, and this article is the only evidence for its existence, all spoilers will be unmarked. This fanfic features examples of:
Action Prologue All Your Powers Combined: Eventually there is a character who is descended from every member of the original SOS Brigade, and thus has all of their powers. And Then John Was a Zombie: Played word for word at the end of chapter 29. And This Is for...: Patty in chapter 13. Apocalyptic Log: The prologue. Ascended Extra: Kunikida turns out to be part Humanoid Interface, part Time Lord, part Saiyan, and part Vulcan, and plays a major role in the later arcs. Badass Family: Every family elaborated upon qualifies. Badass Normal: Tsuruya, a.k.a. The Jade Empress. Beige Prose: One of the author's main problems with the story. Berserk Button: Nobody in the Asahina-Nagato family takes kindly to anybody else in the family being threatened. Also, Yuki in particular happens to share our hatred for Endless Eight. Better than a Bare Bulb: Particularly noticeable in the third arc. BFG: The VLG 2600. Big Damn Heroes: Several. Cannot Spit It Out: Mikuru to Yuki in the first chapter. She gets another chance, though. Catch Phrase: For Dr. Kiyari, it's " You've just redefined insane!" Character Development: After the Time Skip. Classic Cheat Code: Yuki and Kunikida use them as a new method of data manipulation. Conservation of Ninjutsu: A Genre Savvy Yuki uses it to her advantage. Crack Fic: Though that doesn't stop it from trying to take itself seriously at times. Crisis Crossover: The first arc. Curb-Stomp Battle: Every single time. Dangerously Genre Savvy: Fujiwara. Department of Redundancy Department: The TelePortation Device Device, or TPDD for short. Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: Itsuki, who ends up breaking both his hands. Suno is more successful, however. The Dog Was the Mastermind: There are two examples: Fujiwara's true identity in this fic is revealed to be a future version of Kyon who went insane, and the Eldritch Abomination Disaster is none other than Sasaki. Dracula: The Big Bad of the third arc. Eagleland: It appears to be Flavor 2, though Patricia Martin does shoot Disaster. Eldritch Abomination: Disaster, a.k.a. Sasaki. Elvis Lives: In one chapter, Mikuru, Yuki, and Miyuki go to the graveyard in which Elvis Presley is buried, in order to convince his ghost to move on to the afterlife. It is stated that sightings of his ghost are responsible for this trope. Everything's Better with Dinosaurs Fire and Brimstone Hell: The setting of the third arc. First Kiss: Happens at the start of Yuki's and Mikuru's first date. Foreshadowing: By the end of the first arc, Original!Kyon is acting strangely smug. In the second arc it's revealed this has led him to become Fujiwara. Forgot I Could Fly: Zigzagged in chapter 18. Get a Hold of Yourself, Man!: Yuki to Kunikida in chapter 44. Go Mad from the Revelation: What caused the original Kyon to become Fujiwara, though this is not elaborated upon much. Groin Attack: The fate of Simon Stevenson. Half-Human Hybrid: Miyuki. Has Two Mommies: Heinz Hybrid: Suno, as well as his father, Kunikida. Heroic Blue Screen of Death: Yuki after Mikuru is supposedly killed. Heroic Red Ring Of Death: Yuki, while fighting Disaster, though she gets better offscreen. Homosexual Reproduction: Between Yuki and Mikuru, and between Kyouko and Kuyou. Humiliation Conga: Disaster from chapters 12 to 14. Humongous Mecha: Mecharu. I Fell for Hours: Played word for word in chapter 42. Informed Attribute: Disaster's Cosmic Horror status, considering how easily she goes down. In Medias Res Innocent Innuendo: When discussing time travel, Yuki tells her daughter "the first time is generally unpleasant." Insane Troll Logic: " Everyone has a shotgun in America!" Jossed: Let's just say that the events of The Surprise of Suzumiya Haruhi reveal that there is no way that Original!Kyon could possibly have become Fujiwara. Large Ham: Dr. Kiyari Laser Blade: Mikuru and Kyouko fight each other with these, because SiFi270 gave the story's one hundredth reviewer the right to include a plot element as a prize, and that is what said one hundredth reviewer chose. Laser-Guided Amnesia: The fate of Fujiwara!Kyon Legacy Character: Kyon and his sister are actually descendants of the original Kyon and Haruhi. Mad Scientist: Dr. Kiyari. Mama Bear: Miyuki gets double treatment! The Man Behind the Man: Fujiwara, or Original!Kyon, to Dr. Kiyari. Mind Screw: Probably unintentionally, but it still qualifies. Moment Killer: Yuki C. Mook Horror Show: The prologue. Mr. Exposition: Original!Kyon. Whenever someone takes a chapter to explain something, it's titled "Kyon Explains Everything, part X", regardless of who's explaining. even long after he disappears from the story. Mythology Gag: Several references to the original draft, particularly its inclusion of Dracula. He finally makes an appearance in the third arc. New Powers as the Plot Demands: Yuki. And Mikuru. And... pretty much everyone. Ninja Pirate Zombie Robot: Several. No Indoor Voice: John Romero. Non-Human Sidekick: George the T. rex. Noodle Incident: How Yuki was freed from the Data Entity. Noodle Implements: Yuki's initial plan for dealing with a Humongous Mecha involves a basketball, a pair of size 12 shoes and 300 pounds of cheesecake. Old Shame: Yuki's relationship with Kunikida. The fic itself, which is why it has been deleted. One Degree of Separation: Especially when Kunikida's involved. Out of Character: Everyone, but especially the female characters. Ryouko is a good example of a case that isn't Hand Waved as "offscreen Character Development". Punctuated! For! Emphasis!: Yuki to Kunikida in chapter 44: Redemption Earns Life: Ryoko Asakura. Well, if you consider vampires to be alive, at any rate. Redemption Equals Death: Well, not exactly "redemption" in Dr. Kiyari's case, but it's the same idea. San Dimas Time: In the first arc. Satan: Presumably the Bigger Bad to Dracula and Simon Stevenson, but he never appears directly. Sdrawkcab Alias: Partial example. Dracula uses the alias "Dr. Kolros"... which refers to Count Orlok, not Dracula. A straight example is Alucard, Dracula's son. Self-Deprecation: Usually on how short the chapters are. Serial Escalation Shout-Out: Loads of 'em. Small Name, Big Ego: The writer himself. He has no problem with (and is actually quite fond of) taking potshots at much better writers, and this page was basically a love letter to his ego before it was cleaned up. Though the writer has since disowned the fic, and is thankful for the cleanup despite still considering some of the edits to be kind of harsh. Spiritual Successor: by Racke. SiFi270 considers it to be superior in every way. A Time of Gray Suddenly Sexuality: Inverted. Yuki says that her prior relationship with Kunikida failed because of the latter's closeted homosexuality, but we later learn that he had fathered a child with one of Haruhi's (female) descendents. The Family That Slays Together: Kyouko, Kuyou, Chiyo, and Ayumu]]. Time Skip: Twice. Timey-Wimey Ball: Disaster's plans are confusing. Unstoppable Rage: Yuki whenever Mikuru is threatened. Taken Up to Eleven when Mikuru supposedly dies. Wham Line: Usually used to end a chapter. Where The Hell Is Springfield?: Lampshaded in chapter 18, though the Haruhi series is set in Nishinomiya, Japan. The Worf Effect: The Jade Empress. World of Badass: Whatever its faults, at least the story has every character kick copious amounts of ass. X Meets Y: meets Haruhi Suzumiya . The Adventures of Dr. McNinja At least, that was the plan, anyway... You Cannot Grasp the True Form: Disaster. Your Size May Vary: Mecharu and George. Yuri Fan: The writer, of course, though it's based on subtext from the original novels.
