If I'm In Love PLEASE SHOOT ME!
is a Camp Lazlo fanfiction by The Illustrious Crackpot.
A celebrity comes to Camp Kidney, and she so happens to be the girl who inspired Edward's beloved doll Veronica and even has her name. The moment Edward meets the namesake of his most prized possession, he starts to feel some new sensations he doesn't understand. Could he be in Love? If so, is it with her?
This story provides examples of:
- Accidental Kiss: Edward accidentally crashes beak-to-mouth with Lazlo while running from Gretchen.
- Anti-Heroic BSOD: Gretchen goes into a state of broken listlessness once she finds Edward's Veronica doll shrine.
- The whole fanfiction is one big emotional battle for Edward.
- Armor-Piercing Question: "How do you know who you're in love with?"
- Berserk Board Barricade: Edward boards up Pinto Cabin to hide away from anyone he may be potentially in Love with. This backfires when Slinkman wants to come in to talk. And then the Jelly Beans come in and want to play Super Spies with him.
- Bettyand Veronica: Gretchen is the Betty to her competition actually named Veronica.
- Break the Cutie: Poor Veronica doesn't take kindly to Edward's words, "The one I'm in love with isn't you."
- Clingy Jealous Girl: Nobody steals Gretchen's crush and gets away with it.
- Comically Missing the Point: Slinkman tactfully tries to talk to Edward about being gay. Of course, it flies over Edward's head.
- First Kiss: Lazlo's Accidental Kiss with Edward.
- The Ingenue: Veronica is a deconstruction. She's naive, even moreso than Lazlo, because she has had such a sheltered life, and is in love with Edward despite knowing so little about him.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Edward after he accidentally breaks Veronica's heart.
- Lonely Rich Kid: Veronica's crush on Edward is explained by the fact that up to this point, she has never met any boys her age.
- Just Friends: How Edward resolves the tension between himself and Veronica.
- Mistaken for Gay: Slinkman witnesses Edward accidentally tackling Lazlo and starts to wonder...
- My God, What Have I Done?: Edward feels awful after not returning Veronica's love for him, so he declares that they remain friends.
- Ninja Pirate Zombie Robot: Edward dreams that he's being chased by a zombie werewolf (while his brothers do the can-can outside a cafe he somehow keeps passing).
- Not What It Looks Like: As though Edward hasn't had enough problems already, he wakes up one morning to find Samson on top of him, disinfecting his bed.
- One Veronica Limit: The doll and her namesake. Edward starts to find this a bit complicated after a while. It ends Veronica's crush on him because it feels weird that he's known the doll for years, yet he wants to be just friends with the Veronica he's just met.
- Only Sane Man: Clam seems to be the only one who knows what's going on.
- Ship Tease: There's a bit of a Lazlo/Edward ship tease in there. Raj/Patsy is very subtly hinted at at the end."The only problem was that, this time, he wasn't sure what would make him happy. Eating breakfast? Going back to sleep? Taunting the background campers? Finding Lazlo, grabbing him and- Edward quickly stopped the train of thought on that last one."
- Stepford Smiler: Veronica of the pent-up sadness kind. Once Edward accidentally crushes her dreams it all comes flooding out at once.
- "Take That!" Kiss: Subverted. Gretchen punches Edward. His takeaway from this is that girls are weird.
- Talking in Your Sleep: Edward, as Veronica has witnessed. And his screaming about "flyin' muffins".
- Token Good Teammate: Veronica is probably the only Squirrel Scout with a sweet, honest disposition.
- What Is This Feeling?: The whole fanfic is about Edward trying to sort out his feelings after meeting Veronica.
