who brought you On Strange Wings, Confinement is something of another Tsubaki/Ragna fanfic, but with a different set up. Defeated by Ragna, Tsubaki is put under house arrest in Rachel Alucard's mansion as a POW, effectively putting her out of the conflict in the BlazBlue. Unfortunately for Ragna, he's forced to stay put as well to prevent Relius Clover and Terumi getting access to his Azure Grimoire. The result is something of a Slice of Life story as Tsubaki learns to make do with her status as guest/prisoner, with Ragna doubling as her guard and caretaker.
Tropes associated with the fic
- A Friend in Need: Ragna consistently tries to cheer Tsubaki up after Jin and Noel are an item, such as taking her to dance. This leads to Tsubaki developing romantic feelings for him, albeit Rachel claims it's only longing rather than actual love, and Ragna rejected her.
- Everyone Has Standards: Even though Tsubaki hates Ragna before knowing him better, she knows better to not likely disturb him like singing in her spare time.
- Gilded Cage: Despite being her prisoner, Rachel makes sure that Tsubaki is comfortable in her new environment. Makes sense given Rachel's sense of dignity and propriety, and her desire to turn Tsubaki to her side. Albeit Tsubaki, and others such as Ragna still feel limited in their activities.
- Hate at First Sight: Tsubaki and Ragna do not get along at first as she despises him for being one the NOL's fiercest and most ruthless enemies, and he hates her for being an NOL lieutenant and for attempting to kill Noel and Jin. Part of both of their Character Development is realising that the other isn't as bad as they think.
- Lighter and Softer: The focus is more on the everyday life in Rachel's mansion and Ragna and Tsubaki's growing friendship, with the conflict against the NOL present but more in the background than On Strange Wings.
- Patient Childhood Love Interest: Deconstructed. Despite plainly being head over heels for Jin, Tsubaki took the I Will Wait for You approach to winning his affections, and never revealed her feelings well into adulthood. So when she finds out that Jin and Noel are an item in the worst way possible, she takes it badly, and Jin is left completely oblivious as to why she's furious with her because he never realised the depths of her feelings.
