* Jake and Trudy from ''Film/{{Avatar}}'' can get this among fans who think Neytiri's [[GreenAesop too preachy]].
* When it comes to ''Film/{{The Avengers|2012}}'', slash pairings like Thor/Loki, Tony/Loki, Steve/Tony, Bruce/Tony (or the combined Steve/Bruce/Tony) tend to be more popular than those characters with their love interests such as Jane, Pepper, Peggy, and Betty, mostly due to the fact that those characters are nearly/completely absent from the film (or, in Peggy's case, dead).
** However, this only applied to ''Film/{{The Avengers|2012}}'', and not to the Franchise/MarvelCinematicUniverse movies that those characters originated in. But in the case of Captain America, Steve/Bucky tends to heavily rival, if not eclipse, Steve/Peggy and Steve/Tony in many fan circles. Which makes sense -- Steve's relationship with Bucky is arguably the biggest overarching theme of his series of films, and by extension, his character arc.
*** And the ''Film/{{Thor}}'' movies, where Thor/Sif and Thor/Loki are both more popular than Thor/Jane.
** Loki/Black Widow often gets this treatment thanks to a healthy dose of FoeYay they recieved in the film when they're not slashing Loki with the male members of The Avengers. It's enough to rival, even eclipse, fans of Hawkeye/Black Widow.
** ''Film/{{The Avengers|2012}}'' also resulted in fans shipping Black Widow/Hawkeye. Unfortunately for its fans, it was sunk in ''Age of Ultron'' [[spoiler:thanks to TheReveal that Hawkeye is HappilyMarried with kids]]; as a result people started pairing up Natasha with either Steve, based on their strong chemistry in ''Winter Soldier'', or Bucky, based on their canonical relationship in the comics.
* ''Film/AvengersAgeOfUltron'': Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch is currently starting to be shipped with two people: Clint Barton and Steve Rogers. The first for the use of AllLoveIsUnrequited and giving her an epic speech, and the second for supporting and helping the twins and being... [[NiceGuy Steve Rogers]].
* [[LesYay Jess/Jules]] is this in ''Film/BendItLikeBeckham''.
* ''Film/BillAndTed'' has, well, [=Bill/Ted=]. The fact that their actual girlfriends qualify as [[SatelliteLoveInterest Satellite Love Interests]] helps. Most fanworks for the film tend to be for the ship, especially on Tumblr.
* While fans have enjoyed going into the various alternate pairing ideas for ''Film/TheBreakfastClub'', Bender/Allison is clearly the most popular. Due to how both Bender and Allison are quite the outcasts, Bender/Allison fanfics have a known tendency to give them a BirdsOfAFeather dynamic. Though to be fair Bender's line to Allison early in the movie "I've seen you before you know" has been occasionally used as FanficFuel.
* The ''Series/CharliesAngels'' films have Dylan/Thin Man, mostly due to copious amounts of FoeYay.
* Fans of the Creator/RupertGrint movie ''Film/{{Cherrybomb}}'' can generally be split into two categories: devoted [[HoYay Malachy/Luke]] shippers who simply ignore Michelle's existence; and batshit crazy, ''foaming-at-the-mouth'' Malachy/Luke shippers who openly detest Michelle and loudly [[DieForOurShip wish her dead]]. This is a pretty extreme reaction given that in canon, both guys are seemingly straight and spend most of the movie competing for Michelle's affections. That said, several cast members have alluded to the strong homoerotic subtext of Malachy and Luke's relationship, so it probably doesn't exist ''entirely'' in the minds of [[YaoiFangirl yaoi fangirls]].
* From ''Film/{{Clue}}'', the movie: There seems to be this whole thing about [[TheButlerDidIt Wadworth]] and [[FrenchMaid Yvette]]...
* Fun fact: on ff.net, there are virtually ''no'' pairings for Sebastian/Annette from ''Film/CruelIntentions''. Pretty much everyone was rooting for the bitchy, scheming [[EvilIsSexy Kathryn]].
* Rahul and Nisha from ''Bollywood/DilToPagalHai'' have a following, if only because Pooja is sometimes considered TOO perfect...
* Fans of ''Film/AnEducation'' like to pair Jenny with Danny, especially since her love interest in the film [[spoiler:is married]].
* Fans of the BritCom film ''Film/FourWeddingsAndAFuneral'' often complain that the main character's witty, lovelorn friend Fiona is a far better match for him than the vacuous American he ends up with.
* Brigitte and Sam are this in ''Film/GingerSnaps''.
* ''Franchise/{{Godzilla}}'' doesn't have a whole lot of shipping, but Godzilla/Mothra wasn't unheard of, possibly because of their respective roles as TheHero and TheChick. After ''Film/GodzillaKingOfTheMonsters2019'', fans of the ship grew to much greater numbers, what with them being the only Alpha Titans that don't try to fight each other (due to both species having a naturally symbiotic relationship with each other), Mothra being referred to as 'the Queen of the Monsters' along with Godzilla's traditional title of 'King of the Monsters', and Mothra's UndyingLoyalty to Godzilla [[spoiler:to the point that she performed a HeroicSacrifice to save Godzilla from King Ghidorah]]. ''King of the Monsters'' Director Mike Dougherty [[ApprovalOfGod seems to approve of it]], retweeting fan art for the ship on his twitter.
* Some ''Film/TheGreatRace'' fans consider Maggie/Professor Fate as having more chemistry than Leslie/Maggie. Probably not helped by how one scene has her actually ''kissing'' the guy. There's actually some RealitySubtext here. Creator/NatalieWood was forced by the studio to do this movie against her wishes, then to make matters worse she was paired up with Tony Curtis. They'd already done two films together and had developed a passionate hatred for each other, so the lack of chemistry between Maggie and Leslie was genuine.
* Michael/Laurie is the fandom's favorite in the ''Franchise/{{Halloween}}'' series. Rob Zombie's [[Film/{{Halloween 2007}} remake]] [[Film/HalloweenII2009 series]] give this pairing a boost because, apparently, [[IncestSubtext Mikey loves his baby sister]].
* ''Film/HighSchoolMusical'' fans have been shipping Chad and Ryan ever since the second movie. Ryan's ''"You'll never know if you never try"'' and Chad's ''"I'll show you how I swing"'' have served as innuendo, while [[SexyShirtSwitch wearing each other's clothes]] fueled additional locker room images. Chad's relationship with Taylor and Ryan's LoveInterest Kelsi (added in the third movie) have not deterred shippers the slightest. Chad/Ryan seem to be more popular than series OfficialCouple Troy/Gabriella, with Website/ArchiveOfOurOwn featuring four times as many tags for Chad/Ryan than for Troy/Gabriella.
* In the film adaptation of ''Film/TheHobbit'', the most popular ship among fans is Thorin/Bilbo, or Bagginshield. The pairing blew up like you wouldn’t believe after ‘'An Unexpected Journey’’ was released and only escalated from there. It’s virtually impossible to look up ''The Hobbit'' on Google without stumbling across Bagginshield fanart or fanfiction. Youtube is also full of videos shipping them, both crack videos ''and'' serious ones. The HoYay between them in the films proper doesn't help.
* ''Film/TheHungerGames'' has Cato/Clove, as opposed to Cato/Glimmer.
* In the ''Film/{{Inception}}'' fandom, Arthur/Eames and Arthur/Ariadne is this. It's the version where the fandom has no OfficialCouple, though; the only canon couple involves entirely different characters.
** The Dom/Ariadne pairing also has its fair share of shippers.
* Film/JamesBond is, of course, [[TheCasanova hardly the type to settle down]] (except [[Film/OnHerMajestysSecretService that one time]], and it's implied he was at least considering it [[Film/TheSpyWhoLovedMe a few]] [[Film/LicenceToKill other]] [[Film/TheWorldIsNotEnough times]]), but with fans who think he ''should'', the most popular pairing, at least among female fans on Website/LiveJournal, seems to be not with any of his [[BondGirl lovely companions]] from his adventures but rather with his perennial {{UST}} object, [=MI6=] secretary Moneypenny. The ones that aren't YaoiFangirls, anyway; those typically pair him with [[Film/GoldenEye Alec]]. They shared ''everything'', you know...
* There isn't much fanfiction for ''Film/JohnTuckerMustDie'' but 60% are Kate/Beth and probably 39% are Kate/John with Scott being ignored.
* Fans of ''Film/KickAss'' tend to prefer shipping Dave/Kick-Ass with Mindy/Hit-Girl, instead of his official love interest Katie. The sequel [[PanderingToTheBase panders]] to this by making Katie into a [[TookALevelInJerkAss cheating bitch]] out of nowhere, and featuring a kiss between Dave and Mindy at the film's end.
* By ''far'', the most popular pairing in ''Film/KingsmanTheSecretService'' fanfic is Harry/Eggsy. ''Despite'' the fact that [[spoiler: Harry died.]]
* A lot of fans of ''Film/AKnightsTale'' aren't fond of William/Jocelyn, instead preferring to hook him up with his hard-working friend Kate. Chaucer and Wat are also a major Fan Preferred Couple.
* While Mo is paired up with Scott in ''Film/LemonadeMouth'', fans like to ship her with Charlie instead. Meanwhile, Stella doesn't end up with anyone, but it hasn't stopped fans from pairing her with Ray, probably due to all the FoeYay.
* There was a good amount of fans shipping Gandalf and Galadriel from ''Film/TheLordOfTheRings'' but then [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZZloOPRnQ8 that one scene from the Hobbit]] blew it up. The other movies and the RL relationship between the actors that played them do nothing but fuel the fire.
* ''Film/{{Maleficent}}'' and Diaval become popular almost as soon as the film was released. If you have the VillainProtagonist and her [[TheDragon Dragon]] act LikeAnOldMarriedCouple and practically raise a child together, then you can expect the fans to start shipping them. The fact that the film makers [[WhatCouldHaveBeen originally planned on them]] ''being'' an [[UnholyMatrimony actual couple]] just adds fuel to the fire.
** Or, for those who like LesYay, there's shipping Maleficent with said child, Aurora, in a similar vein to the FanPreferredCouple of ''Disney/{{Frozen}}'', [[IncestYayShipping Anna/Elsa]].
* Mary Poppins and Bert are this in ''Film/MaryPoppins'', in large part due to Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke's chemistry. It is even implied to be made canon in the ''Broadway Musical'' when [[spoiler: she kisses him on the cheek]].
* ''Film/MoonChild'': Go to fanfiction.net. Half of all the fanfiction will be about [[SlashFic Kei and Sho]].
* Disney's black sheep turned cult classic movie-musical ''Film/{{Newsies}}'' has a small but rabid fandom that definitely seems to prefer [[HoYay Jack and David]], instead of the canon Jack and Sarah, sister of David. [[SatelliteLoveInterest It's not hard to see why.]]
* A chunk of the ''Film/NowVoyager'' audience seem to prefer Dr Jaquith as a romantic partner for Charlotte, finding Jerry a little dull in comparison to the charming Jaquith. Bette Davis herself said that she imagined Charlotte marrying Dr Jaquith after the film ended, as Jerry was 'too weak' for Charlotte.
* Raoul and Christine end up together in ''Literature/ThePhantomOfTheOpera'', but most fans prefer Christine to be with Erik - ''especially'' the ones that go by [[Film/ThePhantomOfTheOpera2004 the 2004 version]] of it (where the Phantom is portrayed by [[AdaptationalAttractiveness Gerard Butler]]). Also see the series' entry in the Theater section.
* Ever since the trailer for ''Film/PitchPerfect'' (before the characters even had names) came out, people latched onto Beca/Chloe. Jesse never stood a chance.
* Unsurprisingly, given the amount of HoYay[=/=]LesYay between them, Kimberly/Trini and Jason/Billy from ''Film/PowerRangers2017'' have gotten quite popular.
* In ''Film/PrettyInPink'', Duckie/Andie was originally supposed to be canon but test audiences didn't like it, so the ending was changed.
* [[HotScientist Shaw]] is in a relationship with Holloway in ''Film/{{Prometheus}}'', but most fanfiction you'll find will [[RoboShip pair her with]] [[ArtificialHuman David]].
* In ''Film/{{Push}}'': Compare Nick and Cassie's number of Website/YouTube videos (over twenty) to Nick and Kira's (none). Yeah.
* The ''Film/QueenOfTheDamned'' fandom in general favors the vampire/vampire pairing Lestat/Akasha over the human/vampire pairing Lestat/Jesse. This despite Akasha being portrayed as pure evil and a bloodthirsty megalomaniac who wants to drink the world dry, Akasha had EvilIsSexy going for her while Jesse was made into a DamselScrappy and mousy VampireVannabe who just got on viewers' nerves.
* In ''Film/RedEye'', many ship Lisa and Rippner, in spite of (or because of?) all the attempted murder on both sides, as well as the intense chemistry between Creator/RachelMcAdams and Creator/CillianMurphy, especially during the lavatory scene.
* ''Film/SchindlersList'' has Amon and Helen, pairing occasionally supported by viewers, despite the unlikelihood of it ever possibly working out, particularly since Amon mostly seems to see her as something he likes to possess than actually caring about her.
* While nothing actually happens in ''Film/SchoolOfRock'', a lot of people like to imagine that Dewey and Ms Mullins dated after the Battle of the Bands. This is mainly brought on by the bar scene, where Dewey is able to get her to let her hair down a little.
** This is made obvious in the stage version, where they share a kiss during that bar scene and another after the Battle of the Bands, and by the end it's heavily implied that they're officially a couple.
* ''Film/ScottPilgrimVsTheWorld'''s production began when the [[ComicBook/ScottPilgrim comic books]] it was based on hadn't been completed yet and was originally going to have Scott and Knives end up together. This was changed when the final comic books came out and implied that Scott ended up with Ramona instead, but the rest of the film still focused on Scott and Knives' dynamic and chemistry to a greater degree and depicted it more positively than the comic book did which led to several viewers -- including the WebVideo/HonestTrailers narrator -- wishing that the original ending had been kept.
-->'''Honest Trailers narrator:''' Strap in for one proto-millennial's epic journey towards maturity, that ends with him finally growing up and choosing the girl he should have been with all along... wait a minute, they didn't use that ending? They reshot it so that he ends up with Ramona? Why?! What was the point of all it? Be jealous and violent and chase after a toxic relationship? Even when true love is staring you right in the face?!
* In ''Film/ShesTheMan'', Viola/Olivia seems to more popular than any of the {{Canon}} pairings.
* Warren/Layla from ''Film/SkyHigh2005'' over the canon Layla/Will. WordOfGod says Warren/Layla ''would'' have become canon [[WhatCouldHaveBeen had the planned next three movies actually been made]], so their chemistry was likely intentional.
* Fans of ''Film/SnowWhiteAndTheHuntsman'' prefer Snow White/Huntsman as opposed to Snow White/William. It does ''not'' help that the Huntsman [[spoiler: kissing Snow White is what [[PowerOfLove awakens her from death]] after eating the poisoned apple, whilst William's kiss did nothing]], carrying the implication he’s her OneTrueLove, but in the sequel she’s [[spoiler: married to William]] and the Huntsman ends up [[spoiler: back with his NotQuiteDead wife, Sara]].
* The ''Film/SpiderManTrilogy'' has Peter/Ursula.
* In the DVD commentary for ''Film/StarshipTroopers'', director Paul Verhoeven says fans wanted Carmen to die and Johnny to end up with Dizzy, proving that it isn't only fans who have preferred couples. Considering that in the original book Dizzy is ''male'' (not to mention dead for a good chunk of the book) and Johnny and Carmen have at most a one-night stand together, this wouldn't have been such a bad change compared to most of the rest of the changes Verhoeven actually did make.
* The OfficialCouple in ''Film/StarTrek2009'' is Spock/Uhura. There is a sizable section of the fandom for whom Kirk/Spock is the FanPreferredCouple, some of whom believe that the former relationship was put in purely to dissuade Kirk/Spock shippers. In the second reboot movie they introduced Dr. Carol Marcus as Kirk's potential love interest, only to have [=McCoy=]/Marcus develop a sizable following.
* ''Franchise/StarWars''
** A large number of fans ship Padme/Queen Amidala with Obi-Wan, in spite of Padme/Anakin being the OfficialCouple. A large part of this comes from the novelization of ''Film/RevengeOfTheSith'' [[ImaginaryLoveTriangle where Anakin believes Padme is having an affair with Obi-Wan when she actually is not]], which can cast an interesting interpretation on Padme's scenes with Obi-Wan.
** ''Film/TheForceAwakens''
*** When the film came out, it did ''not'' take long for fans to start shipping [[TragicVillain Kylo Ren]] with [[ActionGirl Rey]]. Fans were intrigued by the characters' intense [[FoeRomanceSubtext interactions]], considering them to be ''much'' more interesting and ripe with [[FanficFuel possibilities]] than the potential for a Rey/Finn romance. The fact that it is strongly suggested that Kylo Ren has a VillainousCrush on Rey--he bridal carries her, watches her sleep and even volunteers to be her teacher--only added fuel to the fire. ''Film/TheLastJedi'' made it even more popular not just among fans, but general audiences and reviewers too, thanks to even stronger FoeRomanceSubtext such as: empathizing and bonding over their mutual loneliness, sharing lingering looks and touches, and [[spoiler:their desperation to sway the other to their side]].
*** [[spoiler: Becomes [[OfficialCouple official]]]] in ''Film/TheRiseOfSkywalker''.
*** The other popular ship to come out of the film is that of [[DefectorFromDecadence Finn]] and [[AcePilot Poe Dameron]], thanks to their ungodly amounts of HoYay, such as Poe telling Finn to keep his [[HerBoyfriendsJacket jacket]] because it ''suits him''. Poe's actor, Oscar Isaac, even implied in an [[http://www.bleedingcool.com/2015/12/23/tales-from-the-four-color-closet-by-the-force-let-poe-dameron-be-gay/ interview]] that Poe might be romantically interested in Finn. However, Finn's actor also expressed in a separate [[http://www.nme.com/filmandtv/news/john-boyega-tells-star-wars-fans-shipping-finn-and/397697 interview]] that Finn/Poe was strictly a bromance. Imagine the surprise when yet ''another'' [[http://metro.co.uk/2016/02/15/john-boyega-says-a-star-wars-romance-between-finn-and-poe-could-happen-after-all-5683632/ interview]] reopened the possibility of a romance between the two, with John Boyega taking back his prior statement.
** ''Film/SoloAStarWarsStory'' gives Han a pre-Leia love interest in the form of Qi'ra - one that the fandom seems to have completely shrugged off, in favor of Lando. In an odd case of this, it rarely supersedes Leia entirely; it just seems to be strongly agreed that Han and Lando were together and are AmicableExes by the time of the original trilogy, while Qi'ra barely even rates a blip. (Lando having a WordOfGay didn't hurt.) Even Billy Dee Williams suggested at a convention that they'd had sex at least once.
** In the early days of the fandom, Han/Luke was popular enough to receive multiple 'zines, fanfiction archives, and similar efforts, enough that it got into trouble with Lucasfilm often - eventually, it fell off the radar, but it seems to be making a comeback with ''The Force Awakens''. Fanlore has [[https://fanlore.org/wiki/Han/Luke a pretty extensive article on the whole mess.]]
* Andie/Blake from ''Film/StepUp 2: The Streets''.
* Most fanfic for ''Film/{{Stoker}}'' has India paired up with Charlie. The fact that he's her ''uncle'' doesn't seem to put people off one bit. (To be fair, the two are infatuated with each other in canon. So it's not like this is coming out of nowhere.)
* The FoeYay between Daniel Plainview and Eli Sunday in ''Film/ThereWillBeBlood'' is so prominent that nearly all of the fanfic written is for this ship.
* Ryan and Natalie from ''Film/UpInTheAir'', mostly due to the fact that in the final act it's revealed Ryan's love interest, Alex, [[spoiler:is married with a family]].
* ''Film/XMenFilmSeries''
** Logan/Rogue is much more popular than Logan/Jean or Bobby/Rogue, and it's actually the #1 couple of the original trilogy.
** Charles/Erik is ''the'' official pairing in ''Film/XMenFirstClass'', even according to certain screenwriters and actors. It's incorporated even in fics that involve the younger X-Men (by having them act as parents), and those who do ship Erik/Raven or Charles/Moira are a small minority. Charles/Erik even managed to supplant Logan/Rogue as the most popular pairing of the film series--just look at the [[http://archiveofourown.org/tags/Logan*s*Rogue%20(X-Men)/works difference]] in the sheer [[http://archiveofourown.org/tags/Erik%20Lehnsherr*s*Charles%20Xavier/works number]] of stories on ''Archive of Our Own'' for proof. Creator/JamesMcAvoy wasn't kidding when he called it the "[[https://vimeo.com/84781468#t=4m35s Brangelina of X-Men]]"; Cherik has become such a phenomenon that British TV host [[Series/TheGrahamNortonShow Graham Norton]] took notice of it and showed [=McAvoy=] and Fassbender some of the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrwnzT8vK0w fanart and fanfiction]]. On the other side of the pond, [[Series/{{Conan}} Conan O'Brien]]'s [[http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x320yqo interview with the two actors]] was almost exclusively about their onscreen/offscreen HoYay, and a Cherik fanvid was screened at the end.
* The two leads of ''Film/PacificRim'', Mako and Raleigh have a ton of UnresolvedSexualTension throughout the film, yet it is left up in the air what the relationship is. However, that's not what the fanbase thinks and a large number of fanfics pair them up.
** Even more fics seem to involve Hermann Gottlieb and Newton Geiszler - whilst the former [[UnreliableCanon may or may not be married to someone else]], it appears the fandom would rather Newt's [[WordOfGay feelings]] be reciprocated.

* The ''Film/SpiderManTrilogy'' has Peter/Ursula.
* ''Franchise/StarWars''
* Andie/Blake from ''Film/StepUp 2: The Streets''.
* ''Film/XMenFilmSeries''
