"However, dear reader, do know that -even though I am not exactly like you in the physical, mental and emotional sense- my sense of morality forces me to protect you and the ones you love from... the ones that I hunt"
The second line from the prologue

"The Siphon" is a Creepypasta, written by "Den Man". The story is about a man who became gifted with the unique power to host the vengeful spirits of the ones that were killed by Creepypasta monsters, who he in turn hunts down and kills. Hosting such spirits will then also enchance his strength and healing rate.

The first few chapters are the protagonist's origin story; they introduce the reader to the protagonist's motivation, and how he first achieved his power.

The latter chapters will be about how the protagonist and his rag-tag group of adventurers go out on their hunt.

Naturally, it being a Creepypasta, it is prone to be filled with some Nightmare Fuel. And although the team does tend to get very brutal and violent, most of them are true examples of Good Is Not Soft and Dark Is Not Evil.

Tropes present in the series:

  • Black-and-Gray Morality: The story's heroes are brutally violent murdering vigilantes. The ones they kill are much, MUCH worse than they are, though. And the heroes themselves are actually rather decent people who take care of each other and do what they do to keep innocents safe or avenge them.
  • Breath Weapon: The half-dragon girl Tia can breathe fire.
  • Bring It: When a Teller tells you to attack them, and you actually do it, chances are that's the last thing you will ever do.
  • Brought Down to Badass: Jack will at one point be unable to use his powers. This does NOT stop him from kicking ass!
  • Bully Hunter: In his origin story, Jack was actually standing up for a friendly and quiet bully target, which got him in trouble.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Jack's power to host the spirits of those who got killed by monsters is a way to help those spirits exact vengeance on their killers. And of course there's David, who gains the power to transform into a demonic being.
