An AU/AR
Kamen Rider Kabuto fanfic by

Just like in the original
Kabuto world, aliens called Worms have invaded and are hiding among us. In order to combat this threat, certain gifted individuals are entrusted by ZECT to wield the
Zecters, semi-sentient creatures that allow their human partners to assume Rider forms. One of these chosen few is a young,
assumed to be dead college-age boy named Leon, entrusted with the power of Kamen Rider Kabuto. In order to better protect his friends and
love interest, Rianne,
he fakes death.
After a period of time, he resurfaces in order to recruit his
best friend into ZECT
giving him Rider powers in the process, as well. However, as he makes more appearances around him in the presence of the aforementioned love interest and her friends, they begin to suspect he might be hiding something.
Not to mention, she herself may hide a
dark secret of her own...Warning: Unless you've watched the original series, some details below may become spoilers for you.

- Anti-Hero: The main character. Also, his reasons for joining ZECT aren't completely selfless.
- Not to mention the other Riders who'll show up...
- Code Name: The ZECT Riders all get assigned one upon joining.
- Half-Human Hybrid: Remember Hiyori from the original series? She's got a parallel here, too.
- Heroic BSOD: Leon goes through one before the start of the series, leading to the events that cause him to become Kabuto.
- High School AU: More like College AU, but close enough.
- Jerkass: Percy is this to Rianne until he finds out that his best friend is Not Quite Dead.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Leon.
- Judge Dredd: ZECT members are allowed to bend the law when needed.
- Kick the Dog: Subverted. Percy seemingly has one when he kills the Shrinking Violet's boyfriend who was actually a Worm in disguise.
- Kid Hero: Leon and Percy, Kamen Riders Kabuto and Gatack respectively.
- Knight Templar: Agent Wraith, Kamen Rider The Bee. At least, that's how he's perceived.
- Mundane Utility: Percy uses his Clock Up function as Gatack to get to school on time. See also Misapplied Phlebotinum.
- Once a Chapter: Similar to his Japanese counterpart, Leon quotes his teacher once every chapter.
- Screw the Rules, I Have Connections!: Aside from The Bee, no one else in ZECT seems to mind the fact that Leon, an 18-year old boy, is Kabuto. Or the fact that he gave the Gatack Zecter to his best friend.
- Those Two Guys: Well, girls, anyway.
