The fic follows OC Yuisu Nakahara, who becomes a host for the Interspecies Exchange Program... and soon finds herself dealing with several lesbian monster girls.

My lesbian life with Monster Girls: Monster Yurisume contains examples of the following tropes:

  • All Women Are Lustful: Most of Yuisu's homestays, including Yuisu herself, are rather open about their sex lives; Yuisu in particular has a yuri Porn Stash and a body pillow (she does keep this stuff hidden, but not very well). This gets deconstructed with the introduction of Aluru, who lies and uses pheromones on a mermaid liminal to have sex with her, then tosses her aside the next day. This causes problems for Yuisu, as the liminal was a contractor for Korbin, helping him with the ski lodge. Although Yuisu warns Aluru about continuing such behavior, Yuisu thinks that she's going to have to keep an eye on her.
  • Animal Jingoism: Haru, a raptor harpy, and Hakuto, an Inaba Hare, repeatedly butt heads and even end up in an Escalating War of pranks, solely because Haru is a bird of prey and Hakuto is a rabbit.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: A literal example; Lethe looks like a Dumb Blonde teenager, but is actually an ancient and very successful lawyer.
  • Cast Full of Gay: All of the homestays in Yuisu's house, as well as Yuisu herself, are gay or bisexual. The only exception is Mimi. Justified early on, when Agent Will explains he was deliberately placing lesbian or bisexual monsters with a lesbian host, allegedly to help them be accepted.
    • Outside of Yuisu's homestay, the cast is more balanced in terms of sexuality.
  • Character Development: Quess goes from a promiscuous troublemaker to a responsible mother and shop-owner.
  • Chest Monster: Mimi the mimic.
  • Chivalrous Pervert: A rare female example. Yuisu is often prone to spacing out and drooling when it comes to beautiful women, but is able to control herself and is a genuine Nice Girl.
  • Cool Uncle: Yuisu's uncle Ichiro, who she describes as a surrogate father. He succumbed to cancer before the story takes place, and left Yuisu the house she lives in.
  • Daddy Had a Good Reason for Abandoning You: Mimi's mother, Tess, left her and her father shortly after Mimi was born. As she explains, that was back during The Masquerade when liminals had to stay isolated from society, so she had no choice.
  • Dark and Troubled Past:
    • Before entering the exchange program, Tsuen confessed to her female best friend, who not only spurned her but also informed the village elders, who exiled her from their village.
    • Cissu, the little alraune girl in Iormu's kindergarten class, was kidnapped and brought to Japan by liminal traffickers, who planned to sell her as an exotic pet. She was rescued by M.O.N., and is currently living with human foster parents.
    • Rem, as it turns out, might have the darkest out of everyone. Her original host essentially treated her as a plaything (dressing her up for fun) instead of an actual person, and knew enough about gremlins to prevent her from using her magic. He did this by only letting Rem eat enough food to survive, and kept her isolated from anyone. She then found out that he had... other things in mind for her, even showing her pornographic images of tiny women being raped. Eventually, she was able to cause enough damage to the apartment to make someone else force entry, and the MON Squad got her out of there. The events left traumatic residue on her, particularly to the point that she steals food from the inn due to her paranoia surrounding eating.
  • Disappeared Dad: Yuisu's father ran out on her mother before she was even born; her uncle Ichiro became her Parental Substitute.
  • Does Not Like Men: Kehp is incredibly nervous around men, to the extent that she refuses to ride any taxis to Yuisu's home purely because all of the drivers were male. When she meets Agent Will, she promptly panics and runs, and Froze implies it's not the first time that's happened.
  • Education Mama: Yuisu's mother, Kazumi, wanted her to go to college and make something of herself, but Yuisu refused, wanting to take care of her dying uncle. They ended up in a huge argument over it and parted on bad terms. Kazumi comes to the inn in chapter 133, the first time she and Yuisu have even seen each other in nearly four years, and Yuisu is anything but pleased to see her.
  • Elegant Gothic Lolita: Mara dresses up as one whenever she's going to visit a nightclub.
  • Embarrassing First Name: Mara dislikes being referred to by her full first name, Maratussa, because in her words, it's "not very cute."
  • Escalating War: Haru gets involved in a prank war with Hakuto the Inaba Hare, much to Yuisu's initial bemusement. Then the pranks start getting more and more extreme and affecting other homestays and the Inn's guests, and Yuisu starts getting angry.
  • Face of a Thug: Kriia the large-breed arachne is big and very intimidating, to the extent that Tsuen is freaked out just being around her, but is merely on vacation at the Mountain Lily Inn and just wants to be left alone.
  • Fire/Ice Duo: Yuki the Yuki-onna and Phoebe the Phoenix, who after meeting each other for the first time, start instinctively fighting each other because of their sheer differences. After they get it out of their system, they show up together at the grand finale.
  • First Girl Wins: Yuisu ends up in a relationship with Haru, her very first home stay. During chapter 141, it's shown that Miia was the girl that eventually married Kimihito, with both of them shown to be wearing rings.
  • Girly Girl with a Tomboy Streak: Tsuen loves cute things and has pink hair, and is also very enthusiastic about fitness and running.
  • Grand Finale: The appropriately named final arc, which focuses on Haru and Yuisu's wedding.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: Kyle and Brutus are best friends and both have girlfriends.
  • Hollywood Chameleon: Averted with May the chameleon girl, since she changes color to match her emotions, like real chameleons.
  • Honorary Aunt:
    • Yuisu and her homestays all serve as such to Pwess.
    • Cissu regularly refers to the members of M.O.N. as her aunties. M.O.N. themselves greatly care for her, and often make excuses to come visit her in Okayado.
  • Interspecies Romance: There are many in this series. There's a mention of how the Kimihito Act makes heterosexual human/liminal marriages legal in Japan, but that homosexual human/liminal relationships still have the "no sex" restrictions of the Interspecies Exchange Program.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Aluru uses pheromones to seduce Rui and then cruelly tosses her aside the next day, and it's heavily implied that she's been doing such things for quite a while. When she has a one-night stand with Kriia and tries to push the issue and control her, Kriia quickly sees through her tricks and literally throws her out of the cabin.
Kriia: Rack off, Aluru. And improve your attitude, if you know what's good for you. The next liminal capable of killing you might not hold themselves back.
  • Massively Numbered Siblings: Mara has eleven sisters. Her mother is looking to have her 13th child soon.
  • Mum Looks Like a Sister: Mara's mother, Eria, has had twelve children, and is described as looking like Mara herself.
  • Older Than They Look:
    • Mara looks to be fourteen, but is in fact twenty years old. In fact, according to her, her sisters think she actually looks older.
    • The same applies with Lethe. She may look like a teenager dressed in Gyaru Girl fashion, but is old enough to have a former student that's middle aged.
    • Yuisu's mother Kazumi may be in her early forties, but she can pass for someone in her early thirties.
  • Open-Minded Parent: In chapter 36, Haru's mother takes Haru's confession that she's gay in stride.
  • Open Mouth, Insert Foot: In chapter 129, Yuisu, overworked and stressed out, chews out Haru for changing her mind about getting printer paper when Yuisu asked and forgetting to tell her, which leads to her declaring that Haru never takes her requests seriously, citing the fact that Haru dyed Hakuto pink after Yuisu literally begged her to stop the prank war as proof. All Haru can think of to say in response is, "That was different. I mean, I had already ordered the hair dye", which really sets Yuisu off.
Yuisu: Oh, so that's how it is. My heartfelt plea is worth less than a bottle of hair dye.
  • Opposites Attract: Yuki the yuki-onna develops a crush on Phoebe the phoenix girl.
  • Parents as People: The relationship between Yuisu and her mother Kazumi is not an easy one, but they work out their differences eventually.
  • A Rare Sentence: Iormu gets "Pwess, stop punching that butt right this instant!...That's something I never thought I'd say."
  • Really 700 Years Old: As revealed in chapter 53, Iormu was born over 2000 years ago, but since she was hibernating most of that time, she doesn't consider herself that old.
  • Shadow Archetype: Aluru clearly represents what Quess would have become had she not met Iormu and given birth to Pwess. During their brief reunion in chapter 110, Quess is anything but pleased by Aluru reminding her of what she once was.
  • Shameless Fanservice Girl: Saya the Salamander is openly nudist and doesn't mind being naked in front of strangers as soon as she's comfortable.
  • Shout-Out: The town where Yuisu lives, Okayado, is the same name as the creator of Monster Musume.
  • Sticky Fingers: Misaki the Harpy has a tendency to steal shiny objects.
  • The Cameo:
    • Ms. Smith makes occasional appearances and briefly visits Yuisu's inn. Polt and the other M.O.N. girls also have rarely appeared. Another one is the Kimihito Act, which makes marriages between heterosexual humans and liminals legal.
    • Kimihito Kurusu himself and his homestays make an appearance in chapter 141, visiting Korbin's ski lodge. The chapter, in fact, centers solely on them; Yuisu and her homestays don't appear at all.
  • Token Heroic Orc: Kyle the bouncer is agreed to be the nicest orc people have met, all others are known to be jerks.
  • Was Once a Man: It's revealed in chapter 66 that many liminals are born looking human, and eventually transform into their monster forms around their first moon cycle. Chione and Mimi are two such liminals.
  • Ye Olde Butcherede Englishe: Mimi's mother, Tess, tends to talk this way.
