My heart was beating loudly...I'm breathing differently...Constantly closing my eyes... My vision is blurry and all I can see is Gomez along with a few doctors running down the hospital hall with there hands on the bed... I look down at my very swollen stomach there was blood on my dress... I put my hand on my head pulled it away looked and there was blood there too.. Unconscious I didn't know what was going on... Did I almost die?...maybe I did maybe I didn't..All I now is That was the day I was close to death.

Morticia is Pregnant is a fanfiction of The Addams Family that focuses firstly on Morticia's pregnancies with Pugsley and Wednesday but then goes into all kinds of darkness, including suicide attempts, Morticia being kidnapped, tortured and raped, Gomez dying and Morticia having more babies who die. It is also very grammatically incorrect, with hardly any full stops, a lot of spelling mistakes, and a few places where the author has neglected to put a comma. Note that all the quotes in the trope list below are shown exactly as they were originally written.

Morticia Is Pregnant provides examples of:

• Accidental Murder: Morticia becomes pregnant with twins. When Gomez kicks her stomach in his sleep, it kills one unborn twin but the other survives.
• Affectionate Nickname: Morticia and Gomez calling each other "Bubelah" and "Tish". Gomez also calls Morticia "Cara" and variations on that. Morticia also calls Wednesday "baby doll".
• Age Lift: Pugsley is ten and Wednesday is four, but Morticia had her when he was two or three.

• Attention Whore: During their argument, Gomez accuses Morticia of being one.
  Gomez: "You know what Morticia I don't know why I married you if you always want my attention!"
• Back from the Dead: Morticia attempts suicide and dies after hearing that her third baby died. However, she changes her mind about wanting to die, so God successfully resurrects her.

• Big "NO!": Morticia when she learns that her third baby (who she never really wanted) died.
  Morticia: NO! it can't be true!
• Big "OMG!":
  • Gomez when Morticia falls downstairs and breaks her rib.
  • Morticia when giving birth to Pugsley:

• A Boy, a Girl, and a Baby Family: Pugsley, Wednesday and Phoebe. Becomes two babies after River is born.
• Buffy Speak: Morticia refers to a scale as a "little weighing thing".
• Butt-Monkey: Morticia is a serious butt monkey in this fanfic; she seems to get the worst of it.
• The Diaper Change: Morticia notes that Pugsley, as a baby, needed to be changed once.
• Damsel in Distress: Morticia is reduced to this twice due to being kidnapped.
• Dark Fic: This fanfiction contains rape, murder, torture and several child deaths, while The Addams Family itself was more comical and light.
• "Day of the Week" Name: Wednesday.
• Distressed Dude: Gomez after being kidnapped by Lily Munster.
• Deadpan Snarker: Lily Munster is a bit snarky.
• Death Fic: Zigzagged. Morticia almost dies several times. One time, she actually does die but God resurrects her. Morticia also loses five babies and Gomez gets murdered.
• Driven to Suicide: Morticia has several suicide attempts, but she survives all of them, and, in general, she doesn't seem to seriously want to die.
• Dying Declaration of Love: Gomez dies in the middle of saying "I love you, Morticia".
• Fainting: Gomez faints upon hearing of Morticia's pregnancy with Wednesday. Morticia also gets knocked out several times.
• God: When Morticia dies, God resurrects her. Apparently, He's also Jesus.
• Happily Married: Gomez and Morticia are supposed to be this, but they do have one bad argument.
• Happy Ending: Zigzagged and ultimately averted. The chapters "Awake" and "A New Life" have Morticia state that it's the end of the story and everyone lived Happily Ever After, but then the story goes on into more doom and gloom.
• Heroic BSoD: Morticia falls into depression several times.
• Killed Mid-Sentence: Lily kills Gomez when he's in the middle of saying "I love you, Morticia" and can't say the "A" at the end of her name.
• Lazy Bum: Morticia gets much lazier when she's pregnant with Pugsley.
• Limited Wardrobe: Played with. When Morticia becomes lazy during her first pregnancy, she changes from her canon outfit to short shorts and a tank top (still in black).
• Maternity Crisis: Morticia has one. When she's about to give birth to Pugsley, she falls down the stairs and breaks her ribs.

• Morning Sickness: Morticia gets this while pregnant with Pugsley and that's the first clue she's pregnant.
• Motor Mouth: The occasional lack of punctuation within dialogue gives the impression that most of the characters are speaking this way.
• My God, What Have I Done?:
  • Morticia, at one point, thinks she's at fault for her third baby dying.
  • Gomez also blames himself for accidentally killing one of Morticia's unborn twins by kicking it.
• The Nameless: The man who kidnaps Morticia and Morticia's three children who end up dying.
• O.O.C. Is Serious Business: When Morticia gets lazy and changes her clothes the others (initially) note that it's out of character.
• Out of Character: Several times, the characters are a bit OOC.
  • Gomez taking Morticia to a regular doctor as his first choice. He also says Morticia has a "nice ass" at one point.
  • Morticia finding a male doctor hot and later changing her outfit (which is OOC because Morticia has a Limited Wardrobe in canon).
  • Her dialogue is much more profane and slangy than in canon too.
  • Lurch smiles once and laughs once.
  • When Morticia goes into labour, Gomez wants her to be quiet and they end up yelling at each other in a very OOC fashion.
    Morticia: [whispering] Gomez... *louder, shaking his arm* Gomez listen to me!
    Gomez: Morticia quiet please baby
    Morticia: Gomez I need you to listen for a second!
    Gomez: Morticia seriously I'm trying to listen to mama I can't always have my attention on you so baby please hold on for a few more seconds
    Morticia: [getting up] I can't believe you Gomez you insensitive cad!
    Gomez: You know what Morticia I don't even know why I married you if always want my attention!
  • Morticia becomes suicidal upon hearing about her third pregnancy.
  • Gomez also gives Morticia rose petals and a teddy bear and she likes them.
  • Herman and Lily Munster are depicted as jerks — at best.
• Say My Name: Gomez yells out Morticia's name when she ends up falling down the stairs and breaking her rib when she's about to give birth to Pugsley.
• Screaming Birth: Morticia screams while giving birth to Pugsley and another girl who dies.
• Shout-Out:
  • Gomez and Morticia watch Sherlock.
    • Later, they watch Wreck-It Ralph.
  • Morticia names her daughter River Song Addams after a Doctor Who character.
• Sophisticated as Hell: Morticia swears in this fanfic, despite the canon Morticia actually being rather sophisticated in her dialogue.
• Spell My Name With An S: Morticia calls herself "Mortica" at one point.
  • Pugsley's name is also spelt "Pugsly".
• Throw the Dog a Bone: While Morticia is undoubtedly the Butt-Monkey in this fanfic, she does get given two Throw the Dog a Bone moments. The first is when she dies, but then gets resurrected and brought back. Then, Gomez brings her flowers and a teddy bear (which, admittedly, is out of character), but still. The second is when, after having three babies die, she has a baby who survives and names her Phoebe.
• Tragic Stillbirth: Morticia has three of these throughout the fanfic.
• Weight Woe: Morticia wonders if she's getting fat when she sees her baby bump.
• What Happened to the Mouse?: Lily Munster has a child son named Eddie. He runs away after Morticia says "Go away, your mother is a psycho" and is never seen or heard from again.
• You No Take Candle: A few of the grammar mistakes give it this syntax.
