Hyperdimension Multiverser is a Hyperdimension Neptunia OC-insert fanfiction written by Anime PJ
and is part of The Multiverser Saga. The summary given by the author reads:
I loved the Neptunia games when I was a human. They were delightfully entertaining, as well as containing some pretty good eye candy. Now that I can hop into any universe I like, I figured, why the hell not? So, accompanied by a companion from another universe, I, Dexter Verser, am about to make my mark on the world of Gamindustri.
This is the first Multiverser fanfiction written by Anime PJ, who also has a number of other OC-insert stories under his name.
Hyperdimension Multiverser provides examples of:
- Badass Adorable - Neptune and Compa.
- Calling Your Attacks - IF and Dexter are the main offenders.
- Color Motif - Neptune has purple and Compa has pink.
- Curb-Stomp Battle - Any battle with regular monsters Dexter has been in has been one of these.
- Deadpan Snarker - A lot of them, but the prize goes to Dexter, whose every third sentence seems to be sarcasm.
- Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu? - Dexter at one point uses his "Dementation" powers to defeat Afoire, who is a goddess ... by sending her into so much uncontrollable laughter that she can't fight anymore.
- Elemental Powers - IF with her fire abilities. Also Dexter, who has shown some proficiency in elemental magic.
- Evil Laugh - Played straight with Arfoire.
- Fanservice - So unsubtle the fourth wall gets broken and it gets pointed out.
- Fetch Quest - A lot of the jobs the group gets from the Guild are missions to retrieve certain items from monsters.
- Genki Girl - Neptune.
- Hero of Another Story - Also Neptune, who was the main character of the original source material. The role of protagonist in this story, however, goes to Dexter.
- Hurricane of Puns - Neptune loves her wordplay.
- Implausible Hair Color -
- Dexter's hair is black with blue highlights.
- Neptune's hair is a light shade of purple.
- Compa's hair is bright pink.
- No Fourth Wall - You half expect the characters to reach out of the story and start slapping you in the face with all the clichés they've found.
- Ragtag Bunch of Misfits - So far we've got Dexter Verser (a multiversal demigod), Chieko (a living weapon from the Soul Eater universe), Neptune (a goddess with amnesia), Compa (a nurse-in-training who fights with a giant syringe), and IF (the Only Sane Man who is known as the Wind Walker of Gamindustri). And that's only after two chapters.
- Sexy Man, Instant Harem - Dexter is already in a relationship with Chieko at story's start, Compa becomes easily flustered by him (though that may just be because some of his first words to her were flirtatious in nature), and Neptune is constantly referring to him as cute.
- Shout-Out - As with other Multiverser stories, and as a consequence of using Hyperdimension Neptunia as a source material, sometimes the characters practically communicate in these.
- Verbal Tic - Neptune's exclamation of "Nepu!" whenever she's surprised.
- Where Does He Get All Those Wonderful Toys? - Dexter often gets this reaction from the other characters, as he has a tendency to pull incredibly useful items and tricks seemingly out of nowhere. In truth, as a Multiverser, it's just down to his powers giving him the ability to summon his things to him.
- World of Snark - It's a world of Genre Savvy characters and video game clichés. All the characters get at least one snarky remark in.
- Zero-Effort Boss - Any monster Dexter fights that isn't majorly important to the plot.
