Fragile Thread
is a short Alternate Universe one-shot of Kill la Kill RyuuMako, written by ZabuFanfics.
Ryuko is a highschool student who is described to have lost her way and her classmate Mako is a seemingly cheerful nice girl, however, all is not as they seem, which is made true when Mako summons Ryuuko to help her do something unspeakable.
Fragile Thread provides examples of:
- Affair? Blame the Bastard: Being the product of their mother's affair, Ryuko mentioned how Satsuki's father took the job overseas specifically to get away from her and how he was "forced" to take her in after their mother's suicide and it's implied this is why their mother committed suicide, as Ryuko was a reminder. As we can see, this messed her up, as she's pretty harsh and distant towards Satsuki over this."I'm not my father's daughter. My mom had an affair and then divorced my dad. I was a product of that affair, a constant reminder to my mother of what she'd done. She never remarried after that."
"After that, I had no one, so my dad had no choice but to take in the one reminder of his wife's infidelity. He couldn't stand to look at me, or even be around me. I'm sure I'm the reason he took his job overseas and left me and my sister, Satsuki, alone." - Bittersweet Ending: Ryuko loses Mako to suicide, but at least she and Satsuki reconcile.
- Driven to Suicide: Mako is revealed to be suicidal later in the story, dying as the story ends Earlier, it was mentioned that Ryuko's mother had killed herself, leaving her to be the first to find her body.
- Foregone Conclusion: If the title didn't tip you off...
- Odd Friendship: Mako and Ryuko's, although they didn't truly become friends until about the end of the story, as she dies
- Platonic Prostitution: Mako summons Ryuuko to be by her side as she commits suicide, however, before she ingested the pill, she did ask for a kiss.
- Stay with Me Until I Die: Not exactly, as Mako did summon Ryuko to be by her side as she commits suicide, however, she did tell her she was free to go if that was too much.
