A Fan Fiction that takes place during the events of Digimon Tamers, Digital Prey is inspired by the Richard Connell short story "The Most Dangerous Game" and follows a similar plot.

This fic contains examples of the following tropes, in addition to those already present in the source material:
- A Day in the Limelight: The story focuses entirely on Renamon and Ruki with none of the other main cast from Tamers appearing other than a few minor mentions for exposition.
- Affably Evil: Stalkermon generally depicts this. Starts to slip when his plans fall apart at the end, however.
- A Handful for an Eye: Renamon uses this during one of her fights with Stalkermon in order to escape from him.
- Better to Die than Be Killed: Renamon appears to choose this rather than let Stalkermon have the satisfaction of killing her when she's faced with a No Escape but Down situation.
- BFG: Stalkermon's main weapon is a massive rifle that can function as both a sniper rifle and a machine gun.
- Book Ends: The story starts and ends with Ruki riding a train.
- Cliffhanger: The second chapter ends this way, with Renamon trapped on a cliff looking down the barrel of Stalkermon's gun.
- Completed Fic: The story was finished in three chapters, a goal set by the author both to stay within a "short story" format and to avoid the story possibly dragging on and becoming a Dead Fic.
- Continuity Nod: Several references are made to the Tamers series, such as referencing the Devas as well as Renamon and Ruki reflecting on how they first met and their relationship with each other.
- Egomaniac Hunter: Stalkermon pretty much epitomizes this.
- Even Evil Has Standards: Stalkermon takes Renamon's tamer hostage in order to force Renamon to comply with his demands, but has no intention of harming her so long as Renamon abides by the rules Stalkermon sets forth.
- Evil Gloating: Stalkermon tends to be prone to this.
- Gratuitous Japanese: The author went with the original Japanese names for the canon characters and Renamon's attacks due to his preference for the original version of Tamers versus the English dub. The characters also frequently use Japanese Honorifics when addressing each other.
- Hand Behind Head: Ruki's mom Rumiko does this when Ruki complains about the ridiculous amount of luggage Rumiko brought with her on the family's trip.
- Heroic BSoD: Renamon suffers a brief one after being forced to abandon her tamer.
- High-Class Glass: Stalkermon's attire includes a monocle, which also shows information collected from his Searcher Bot probes.
- Hoist by His Own Petard: One of Stalkermon's attacks on Renamon results in her tamer being freed, which is promptly followed by the climactic Curb-Stomp Battle.
- Improbable Infant Survival: Ruki gets abducted, held hostage, and even gets shot at, but is never seriously harmed.
- Killed Off for Real: Stalkermon.
- Machete Mayhem: Stalkermon carries one as a melee weapon, and has no qualms about using it, either.
- No Escape but Down: Happens to Renamon at the end of the Chase Scene.
- Pistol-Whipping: Stalkermon hits Renamon in the gut with the handle of his machete when she tries to attack him while he's laying out his plans for her.
- Sadistic Choice: Renamon must choose between being hunted by Stalkermon or refusing and endangering Ruki.
- Shown Their Work: Just as in Tamers, the locations depicted in the story are based on real places on the island of Hokkaido in northern Japan. The author made extensive use of YouTube, Google Earth, and Wikipedia when doing research for the story.
- Shut Up, Hannibal!: Renamon does this to Stalkermon a couple times; the first time results in her getting knocked flat on her back when she tries to attack him mid-speech.
- Stuff Blowing Up: Most everything hit by shots from Stalkermon's gun explode on impact. His Searcher Bot probes also explode when they're destroyed.
- Would Hurt a Child: Stalkermon threatens Ruki in order to force Renamon to comply with his demands, and later attempts to shoot Ruki after Renamon frees her. Thankfully quick action by her partner keeps Ruki from harm.
