Even The Girls Want Her / Anime & Manga

Go To

Female characters whom even the girls want in Anime and Manga.

  • Reika "Madame Butterfly" Ryuuzaki from Aim for the Ace! is an early example of the Aloof Dark-Haired Girl Onee-sama that everyone wants to be or be with. The Les Yay undertones may not have strictly been on purpose, but they're still there.
  • Everyone (except Akira) in the Blause Rosen band in Ai Ore! Love Me! has this to varying degrees.
  • Maki of Airmaster. Because every other character, including a couple of girls, seem to be chasing after her.
  • The main character of Aoharu × Machinegun, Tachibana Hotaru, is an attractive Bifauxnen who attracts the attention of both guys and girls in the series. Her female best friend, Kanae, seems to have romantic feelings for her despite knowing that Hotaru is a girl. Her fellow female airsoft player, Sagara Hanako ends up falling for her. An omake also shows that she receives a lot of chocolates from other girls during Valentine's Day.
  • Ayakashi Triangle: Matsuri had the attraction of two of his female friends, Suzu and Reo, before becoming female himself. Afterward, both are still attracted to him (Reo because she is explicitly bisexual), as is his male rival Soga. Guys who only know Matsuri as a girl usually consider him very pretty, though his masculine personality and assertive moments drive them off. Lu and Yayo, girls who also believe Matsuri was always a girl, semi-seriously call Matsuri a "hottie" for the same reason.
  • Azumanga Daioh: In episode 4, Kaorin and one of her friends fangirl over Sakaki, while watching her change for gym class, with both agreeing she was cooler than most of the guys at their school. While a later episode had her being followed by a different group of girls, who took turns gushing about her height, her figure, the fact that she's the fastest runner on the track team, and how awesome she is all-around. Then squeed and had to hug themselves with hearts floating above their heads.
  • Baccano!: Sylvie Lumiere. Sylvie attracts quite a bit of attention on the Exit, from men and women alike.
  • In Berserk, Casca gets quite a few squeeing fangirls in the victory parade after the Battle of Doldrey.
    • The count's wife had his love and during a pagan orgy in which she was participating a woman willingly hugs her from behind while both are naked and plants kisses on her back, which makes the count's wife aroused.
    • Nina has the interest of a male friend and several woman get intimate with her during an orgy.
  • Best Student Council: President Jinguuji Kanade is the object of most of the girls' devotion and affection, taken further with the amount of Les Yay in the show.
  • Kinko Echigoya from Binbou Shimai Monogatari receives a lot of admiration and love from her fellow female classmates.
  • Bleach:
    • Sui-Feng's obsession with her former mentor, Yoruichi, is played for laughs to the point of being a Running Gag. She's tried to take pictures of her naked and, in the anime, has even fantasized about being rescued and whisked away by her.
    • So is Chizuru's unrequited crush on Orihime, since Tatsuki stomps Chizuru flat every time she tries to molest her. Chizuru also admitted to finding Tatsuki attractive, but said she was too much of a tomboy for her tastes.
    • Orihime finds herself with no shortage of female admirers throughout the series. Rukia and Rangiku both adore her like a little sister, with both sharing moments with her that might raise an eyebrow or two. Tatsuki, for all intents and purposes, is her protector. Whether platonic or romantic is an exercise for the viewer. Riruka, from the Xcution Arc, cares about her more than she is willing to admit. Then there's the aforementioned Chizuru, who shamelessly lusts after her. Finally, the Arrancar Loly whose jealousy toward the then-captive Orihime (for gaining Aizen’s attention) fuels her obsession with killing her. When she's not attempting to kill her, however, she’s stroking her hair, pinning her against walls, and… ripping her clothes off.
  • If you're a girl in Blood+, you may find yourself compelled to crawl into bed with Saya Otonashi...
  • Mako from Boku no Futatsu no Tsubasa has pretty much everybody after her bar a select few.
  • Bubblegum Crisis: Sylvie was hot enough that Priss took a liking to her almost instantly, to where they were heavily implied to be an item. When Linna and the others finally met her, they told her Priss couldn't stop talking about her and said they could see why. Justified because, unbeknownst to them, Sylvie was a Sexroid.
Linna: [gushing] If I were a man, I'd make a pass at you myself!
Sylvie: [smiles sheepishly] Umm... thanks. I think.
  • Book Girl: Tohko Amano. The second book confirms that Maki has feelings towards Tohko.
  • In Campione!, a lot of Erica Blandelli's classmates have crushes on her, and get incredibly jealous of her boyfriend Godou.
  • Canaan:
    • Both Canaan and Maria what with their Les Yay towards one another. There's also Alphard's tendency to invade Canaan's personal space everytime they fight.
    • Alphard. Besides the obvious example in Liang Qi, she sets the hearts of both the male and female party guests in episode 4 aflutter when she passes by them in her sexy evening gown.
  • Cardcaptor Sakura: Sakura has the attentions of both Syaoran and Tomoyo. She probably inherited it from her mother, who was the subject of a tremendous (unrequited) crush by Tomoyo's mother.
  • Case Closed: If we take Sara Masumi's "She's my type!" comment and Sonoko's Ambiguously Bi moments towards her in account, then Ran Mouri definitely qualifies as this.
  • The Case Study of Vanitas: Manet has a moment where she appears to be questioning her sexuality due to Dominique de Sade's charms. Dominique later flirts and dances with Jeanne, earning Jeanne's affection and admiration. Dominique also mentions she's used to attracting women, but men don't get near the de Sade women because Dominique's half-sister scares them.
  • Cheeky Angel: Megumi seems to have no problem attracting other women such as Miki, Yoriko (Megumi's live in maid), Reiko, a thief, and Genzo's sister, Setsuka, and pretty much any woman who talks to her for more than two seconds, both love to hug and touch Megumi. Her classmate Chie even discusses having sex with her.
  • ChocoMimi: Bambi Mori is popular with boys and girls. A lot of characters reference the idea that if Bambi was a guy, she'd be Choco's ideal guy.
  • At least one schoolgirl in Code Geass competed for Milly Ashford's kiss in one episode. Also, Euphemia who, as someone aptly stated, is lusted after by all Psycho Lesbians in Britannia. While Nina's love for Euphie was open and blatant it's been often wondered if her older sister Cornelia secretly has feelings for her as well.
    • Shirley Fennette was also fairly popular in this regard as well. The only one amongst the student council whom sexually harasses her is Milly Ashford due to how Milly does enjoy fondling Shirley's breasts every now & then. There is also on how Shirley did once get to kiss Lelouch but it turns out to be Sayoko in disguise.
  • Cross Ange: Ange attracts blushing worship from her teammates in the first episode, then Coco in the third...and Zola and Embryo's less-than-welcome attentions.
  • In Cutey Honey Flash, Honey Kisaragi is very popular with her female classmates.
  • Dear Brother, where almost the entire Seiran school was crazy about Rei aka Hana-no-Saint-Juste and Kaoru-no-Kimi, well and Miya-sama to some extent.
  • Ren from DearS. She has subtext with Neneko who also gropes Ren as soon as she meets her, she has subtext plus a opening-credits kiss with Miu, and then Mitsuka-sensei says to her at one point "I don't care if you're a girl, that body was made for love!" Also, she gets several fangirls at school who constantly urge her to leave Takeya and hang out with them instead.
  • Death Note: Misa Amane is a gorgeous model, and the first time Light's sister Sayu sees her, she says, "She's my type!" and pretty much goes gaa-gaa over her. Later, it's revealed that even Rem, her Shinigami not only loves her, but is willing to die for her. Of course, she's Lightsexual, and Light has no romantic interest in anyone whatsoever that we can tell, so All Love Is Unrequited there. In episode 15, upon spotting Misa a lot of girls crowd around her saying things like "Oh, she's so cute!" and "I'm your biggest fan!"
  • Chikane Himemiya in Destiny of the Shrine Maiden has a strong female fanbase; there's a Girl Posse that dedicate themselves to her and would go as far as to bully Himeko, who seems to get all her attention. Naturally, this doesn't sit well with either her or Souma.
  • D.Gray-Man: Lenalee is clearly Allen's counterpart in that domain. Allen probably likes her more than just a little, Lavi says he is totally interested in her, Bak is… well, Bak, Cross blatantly hits on her once. She also can make Cross stay at the Order, as he was going to run off again, but found Lenalee too cute to refuse. Regory Peck apparently did it several times, and Li Kei falls in Love at First Sight. And there is Komui's behaviour…In regards to the girls, in the Rewinding Town arc Road dresses up Lenalee in an Elegant Gothic Lolita-looking gown and curls her long hair. She also calls her "cute" while releasing heart marks, fawning over her, and holding her close.
  • Ayaka Hatori of D.N.Angel in Daisuke's school in episode 7. She has tons of fangirls who blush and wear looks of great admiration in her presence.
  • Mika of Doki Doki School Hours. Kitagawa has a crush on her.
  • Don't Become an Otaku, Shinozaki-san!:
    • It's revealed that Touko was once confessed to by another girl. When brought up, however, she becomes very flustered and refuses to speak of the matter.
    • During the culture festival, Akina's class adjusts their maid cafe to a maid and butler cafe to compete with a neighboring class and their cosplay cafe. Akina is dressed up as the butler and, using a manga she read as reference for her behavior, woos every girl that comes her way.
  • Princess Leonmitchelli of Dog Days. After suffering Clothing Damage following a fight against Leaf, a shot shows that a large number of her subjects (male and female) have hearts in their eyes.
  • Fairy Tail:
    • Erza Scarlet has hordes of men and Lucy Heartfilia swooning when they see her in action. When she dressed up as a prince during a play, she had plenty of female audience members commenting on how handsome she was.
    • Lucy herself has tons of Les Yay with other girls and in the anime, Levy wouldn't mind seeing her butt.
    • Mirajane Strauss is said to have captured the hearts of men and woman across the land, and Lucy openly drools over her bikini magazine photos.
  • The Familiar of Zero:
    • Louise had gotten kissed by girls more often than she had by boys. Not to mention the number of times she is subjected to Marshmallow Hell by some of the show's bustier characters. Also in the third season Kirche seems to have developed an intense liking for her and in the opening for the fourth season there's a part where a new purple haired girl named Janette hugs a struggling Louise close and licks her face. And in Episode 2 of the fourth season Janette licks Louise on the face again and practically flirts with her calling her "cute and innocent".
    • Not to mention Tiffania (who has the biggest boobs out of all the girls in the series) who gains about three female admirers by the end of the third season, and before that said female admirers tended to fawn over their token princess.
    • Or Tabitha. Kirche really adores her and fawns over her. Also, Irukukwu "Sylphid" is very affectionate towards Tabitha, her "Onee-sama", and fawns over her.
  • Freezing: In an OVA, the middle-aged but still attractive Sister Margaret is subjected to The Nudifier. Everyone around her, men and women alike, gawk at her. "Nice body!"
  • Tohru Honda of Fruits Basket. Hanajima Saki's and Arisa Uotani's affections for her seem to go much deeper than simple sisterly friendship. There's also the Les Yay she gets with other girls.
  • Teletha "Tessa" Testarossa gets this reaction when she introduces herself to Kaname's high school class in Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu. All the guys go "WOOOAH!" while all the girls cry "Oh she's so cute!" with accompanying love hearts. Melissa Mao also appears to have some attraction towards Tessa.
    • And Melissa Mao. During her time on the submarine, Kaname thinks about how cool and sexy Mao is.
  • Nagisa Misumi from Futari wa Pretty Cure, who is the star lacrosse player of the school team and regularly gets love letters from fangirls. The boys are not nearly as interested in her as are the girls, because there are much more beautiful girls in the school — and that is actually very disappointed for poor Nagisa. Enter her Pseudo-Romantic Friendship with Honoka Yukishiro, aka Ms. Smart and Gorgeous. The two girls then start to draw the attention of each other's fanclub to themselves as well.
    • Later in the franchise, in Yes! Pretty Cure 5, Karen Minazuki has this sort of effect as well. It doesn't come up very often, though, as episodes focusing on Karen tend to concentrate on the Student Council President aspect of her school life.
    • There's also Itsuki Myoudouin from HeartCatch Pretty Cure!, who has girls fall head over heels for her. Tsubomi Hanasaki does this as well, mostly because she's under the wrong presumption that she was a he. Even after she found out the truth, she's still struck with those feelings. And besides her, there is another girl in the fashion club who has seemingly a crush to Itsuki. And then, there are a lots of other girls.
    • Exaggerated with Mana Aida from Doki Doki! PreCure, who seems to not having that many fangirls like the former ones above, but the other main characters adore her. Rikka Ishikawa becoming jealous to Makoto Kenzaki, who is the fangirl-target of Mana and gets closer to her, is the focus of Episode 10. And then, there is Regina who suddenly befriends Mana, undergoing a Heel–Face Turn because of her and saying that she loves her ("Mana daisuki").
    • Mentioned above, Makoto Kenzaki has also many fangirls, including Mana herself.
  • Hinata from Future Diary. Mao, is not-so-secretly in love with her — she can't stop looking at/thinking about/lusting after/recording in a diary Hinata's impressive bust (for a 14-year-old).
  • In Gakuen Alice, this is Yuri's Alicenote: Making girls want her while they're in her presence. She also hates it more than anything, especially since she can't prevent it.
  • Motoko Kusanagi of Ghost in the Shell inspires this to some degree in canon (between multiple adaptations having three male love interests, one genderless love interest, and two girls who may or may not be her girlfriends the entire time) but is most notable for doing this to the 'fandom'.
  • In Girlfriend, Girlfriend, you’d be forgiven for thinking that Nagisa is the apex of the Love Triangle rather than protagonist Naoya. She is regularly admired by Saki, who even wishes she was the one dating her and even wishes they got married.
  • Girls Bravo: Kirie and Miharu. In the anime Kosame develops a Psycho Lesbian-type attraction towards Kirie after she fights her. Also, Hijiri has been obsessed with Miharu since childhood but after being defeated by Kirie in a fight she starts lusting after her instead. They both express their affections towards Kirie by resorting to attempted Black Comedy Rape. A number of boys in her school are also infatuated with Kirie and Miharu, especially Fukuyama. One episode showed that Kirie couldn't even walk down the street without guys crowding around her, to ask her out on a date and the like. Kirie lampshades it during her fight with Hijiri by griping that she's like to "catnip for lesbians".
  • Rei from Glass Mask has a huge group of female fans swooning over. Of course, that's mostly because she keeps getting mistaken for a man.
  • Tail Red from Gonna Be the Twin-Tail!! is universally fawned over by guys and girls alike. Made more complicated by the fact that Tail Red's normal form is a guy.
  • Good Luck! Ninomiya-kun: Reika. Ryoko really enjoys molesting Reika and dragging her off, despite Reika's protests that she doesn't swing that way. This is also played with in regards to Shinobu, a maid of Reika's, who greatly adores Reika and thinks Shungo is not worthy of Reika, and is always trying to "execute" him.
    • Also, Mayu. One of Hinako's favorite hobbies, other than sexually harassing Shungo, appears to be skinship groping Mayu.
  • Kazumi Amano from GunBuster is one of the all time reps of this trope. She's the star student (and pilot candidate) at her high school (an all-girls school yet), she defends those in need, she gives advice to her juniors, and everyone just knows she's going to be picked for the big space mission so they actually fight duels over who gets to go with her. In the last episode, all the students at her old school (where she had been teaching) cry over her leaving.
  • Konoe of Hanaukyō Maid Team. While Konoe sees her as a pupil, Yashima herself is hopelessly and rather blatantly in love with Konoe. This often has her daydreaming up various lesbian fantasies with Konoe returning her feelings...resulting in rather embarrassing moments.
  • In Haruhi Suzumiya, Mikuru is constantly and lovingly described as beautiful by Kyon, and both Haruhi and Tsuruya like her a lot.
    • Yuki Nagato as well as Kyon expresses attraction to her, and Mikuru and Ryoko are shown to adore her. Mikuru once said she'd date Yuki if she was a boy and Ryoko goes Yandere for her in the movie.
  • Haruka Nogizaka of Haruka Nogizaka's Secret is known to have a female fanbase, which joins up in the Instant Fan Club dedicated to her (boys included).
  • Hinagiku Katsura of Hayate the Combat Butler gets a massive pile of chocolate on Valentine's Day... the day that, in Japan, is set aside for girls to give chocolate to the boys they like. Miki remarks that it's because she's so much cooler than the boys in their school, then offers up her own chocolates.
    • Nishizawa admits to being slightly attracted by her in a hot springs moment.
    • After consistent implications of Miki's attraction to Hina, she finally gets a chapter focused on her where her affections are made much more obvious, though still unstated.
    • Not even Chiharu is immune. After spending the day alone with Hinagiku in Kyoto, in an unusually teasing mood no less, the two are in the baths at the inn together, where Chiharu became very dodging about just why she wore her glasses into the bath...and then proceeded to stare, blush, and lose the ability to speak coherently as she watched Hina get into the bath right in front of her.
  • Hone-Onna from Hell Girl: The Cauldron of Three has female students "admire" her so much that one of them even tried to send Ichimoku Ren to hell because they were mistaken for lovers. Not withstanding all the Les Yay earlier in the series between Hone-Onna and Enma Ai.
  • Azumi Yamada from Hen. Chizuru Yoshida has quite a sweet crush on her and is more than willing to make an exception for her despite being heterosexual.
  • The Team Mom Ukraine of Hetalia: Axis Powers is very popular with a large portion of the female fanbase, This actually appears in-comic when Liechtenstein ends up blushing while admiring Ukraine's traditional clothing and Hungary teases her, telling her to wear an incredibly Stripperiffic dress.
    • According to Sealand and Latvia desktop mascots, Belarus has written in her journal that she spent 3 hours massaging Ukraine's breasts. This implies even Ukraine's sister, who has a Single-Target Sexuality towards Russia, wants her.
    • During the 2013 Halloween event, Taiwan is instantly drawn to Ukraine's beauty, even completely distracting her away from a conversation with Belarus.
  • Sae of Hidamari Sketch: If we go by the anime, she had received Valentines' chocolates from girls when she was in junior high.
  • Torako from Hyakko. From how it looks in episode 10, a lot of people have Les Yay towards her.
  • Makoto of The iDOLM@STER is not only popular with teenage girls but housewives as well.
  • I Dream of Mimi: Even the girls at Akira's school fawn over Mimi, who is posing as his distant cousin from Colombia. They're totally unaware that she's a robot.
  • I Love Yuri and I got Bodyswapped with a Fujoshi!: Yoshida-as-Hoshina ends up being hit on by multiple girls through the story, including Hoshina's best friend. This should be a good thing, since Yoshida's a Yuri Fan, but he still considers himself male and is adamant about only being an observer of the "pure love" between girls.
  • I Went to a Mixer and a Handsome Girl Showed Up is a four-page doujin that's based around this trope. At a mixer, several women are rather dissatisfied with the guys in attendance, but then, the second and third pages show a Bifauxnen named Kazeno who shows up late due to having helped a lost child at the train station. The last page shows that all the women became smitten with Kazeno within 20 minutes, leaving the guys Blue with Shock.
  • Akira from Kaguya Hime fits this trope to a T. Very athletic and tough, she can oscillate between a Bifauxnen and an extremely sexy and well-endowed young lady, thus getting crushes from boys, girls, and creepy older women. When she eventually goes out with Yui, a somewhat cat-like androgynous boy, her Yandere stepsister Mayu comments that they look like a gay couple. Then again, gender confusion is one of the main themes of the manga.
  • Kaguya-sama: Love Is War:
    • Both Karen and Erika have shown interest in Kaguya, with the latter going headlong into Ambiguously Gay territory.
    • Shirogane's little sister Kei is noted to be very popular with both boys and girls at her school. Even Kaguya shows a passing interest in her (despite her otherwise Single-Target Sexuality for Shirogane) due to a combination of her Strong Family Resemblance with her older brother and Kaguya's desire for a little sister.
    • Several girls are shown squeeing alongside Ishigami over Tsubame's dance performance during the culture festival in the omakes.
  • Natsuru Senou of Kämpfer is a case of this in the third episode. Mostly this is exaggerated during the episode when he is transferred over to the girls side and the episode where they prepare for the beauty contest, but some after, she is barraged by girls in her class who want to get together with her. Kaede Sakura continually wants to date her, and subsequently hates him as a male.
  • The title character of Kekko Kamen is admired and wanted by boys and girls alike at Sparta Academy, partly due her figure (that she doesn't hide at all) and partly because she constantly defends the students from the Sadist Teachers at the school. Most notably, there's exactly three female students, Chigusa Yuka, Koichi Omote and Kei Kurenai, who don't show attraction toward Kekko Kamen at any point, and that's because Kekko Kamen is them and two other persons and they're all sisters.
  • Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple: A quick glance at the background of one page indicates that it's not just guys who enjoy Rachel Stanley's awesome figure.
  • Madoka Ayukawa from Kimagure Orange Road is a tough and highly attractive girl who is wanted (and sometimes feared) by lots of males... and TWO very persistent females: Kyōsuke's psychic cousin Akane and one-episode character Shiori from the anime.
  • Mio from K-On! has this effect on girls, both outside of the music club as within. Although we aren't told at first her fanclub is this at first (it's only implied that the school is girls only), the second season makes it clearly a case.
  • Lia de Beaumont from Le Chevalier d'Eon has won the hearts of men, women, kings, queens, and not to mention siblings.
  • In The Love and Creed of Sae Maki, Sae is The Ace of Seirinkan High; beautiful, intelligent, athletic, and rich. The girls love her more than even the guys do and want to buddy up with her; even when provided the Cassandra Truth that Sae killed a man, the girls are the first ones to fall for her Wounded Gazelle Gambit and come to her defense. Ran uses this as an excuse when trying to get between Misao and Sae, claiming to admire her and using Misao to get closer to Sae.
  • Motoko Aoyama from Love Hina has a trio of girls who follow her around, begging for her attention, ganging up on anyone who says anything negative about her, and — on at least one occasion — being upset with her because she spends so much time in male company (since Keitaro moved in).
  • Love Lab:
    • A lot of classmates have crushes on Maki, saying she is kind and beautiful like a princess.
    • A lot of classmates have crushes on Riko, because she's a tomboy who kicks a lot of ass, and she's saved a few of them.
  • Lupin III: Fujiko has no shortage of men and women who are eager to bed her.
  • Fate Testarossa of Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha seems to have this going on during the second season, though it's more obvious in the manga. Not only do we see a number of girls in the class clustering around her talking about how great she is, but when Arisa gets a smile from her, she blushes and muses that it's easy to see why Nanoha likes her so much.
    • Nanoha might have Fate beat when it comes to this, considering the number of people she's befriended through sheer force of her personality (and laser beams). Or even those she hasn't, as Subaru demonstrates in StrikerS.
  • Although it's not a major plot point, it's commented that Hikaru from Magic Knight Rayearth has a lot of other girls at her school interested in her in the manga's opening. Some of the girls in the series proper seem pretty interested in her, too.
  • Magi: Labyrinth of Magic: Morgiana seems to have this with a lot of girls. Other than Leila, her first interaction with Toto involved being hugged by her with Morgiana's hands on Toto's chest. A special chapter/omake even has Myron from the Fanalis Corps try to kidnap her "because she's so cute."
  • Misaki Ayuzawa of Maid-Sama! is shown to have the respect of the girls within her sphere of influence, but it becomes this trope when the Maid Cafe she works at has a Ladies Day, featuring the staff in Bifauxnen mode, all of the girls instantly fall for her.
  • Maken-ki!:
    • It's a wonder how Haruko hasn't caught on that her kohai has a lady boner with her name on it, because she isn't discreet about it. Uruchi openly fangasms over her and becomes jealous when anyone gets too close to her sempai.
Uruchi: [at Gouken] YOU SON OF A BITCH!! How DARE you rip off Haruko-sempai's clothes?! THE ONLY ONE ALLOWED TO RIP OFF HER CLOTHES IS ME!!
      Haruko: [from just off-panel] Huh??
    • In the anime, the other girls didn't mind Haruko groping them in her sleep (episode 13) either. Especially Takaki, who said Haruko went further than that with her and... she was okay with it (from 8:50-9:10):
Takaki: [at Ms. Aki] She's not the only girl who was feeling energetic this morning.
Haruko: [makes "oh shit" face] Oh please don't...
Takaki: [naughty face] I woke up to an interesting surprise, myself. She did WAY more than just grope.
  • In Manyu Hikencho's alternate Feudal era Japan, a woman's worth and social status are determined solely by the size of their breasts, which makes Chifusa especially desirable to both sexes.
    • She's been hit on and publicly groped by other women, including a flirty bar patron in episode 3, who felt her up. In the next episode, Oiso not only tries to convince Chifusa to stay in her village, she fondles Chifusa twice while she's at it.
    • The main offender, by far, is Chifusa's horny handmaiden, Kaede. She's well aware that Kaede wants her body, so she's always on guard whenever Kaede offers to "attend" her while she's bathing. Most of Kaede's attempts fail, but she has better luck in the OVA specials.
  • Yumi Fukuzawa from Maria Watches Over Us manages to outshine most of the other popular girls in this regard during the course of the series — even Sachiko. Sure, the setting evokes this trope, but the number of girls standing in line to become Yumi's "soeur" is nothing short of amazing, considering how she started out.
  • Mayo Chiki!: Subaru has a fanclub full of girls and the one that do know don't care.
  • All of the guys want female Maze in Maze Megaburst Space, and so do quite a few of the gals.
  • Sakura from Me & My Brothers. Murakami Michi, a women's magazine employee interviewing Masashi - who looks like Sakura's mother Fumiko — informs him that, after meeting Sakura, she is not interested in men and delightedly says that Sakura is "just her type." She fawns over Sakura whenever she has an opportunity.
  • Mei no Naisho: With the possible exception of Fuuka, everyone has a crush on the Student Council President.
  • Rina from Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch is (supposedly) a Bifauxnen and is thus very popular with her female classmates, and she is shown receiving love letters from two of them.
  • In Mission: Yozakura Family, Mutsumi has a number of female admirers who are equally infatuated with her for one reason or another, be it her looks, her personality, or her status as a Living Macguffin as the tenth head of the Yozakura family.
  • Miyuki from Miyuki-chan in Wonderland has every female character attracted to her (though granted all are female).
  • Yuu Kashima of Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun. To be more precise, it's especially the girls who want her. The consensus amongst the school's female population is that she's the hottest guy in her year.
  • My-HiME:
    • Natsuki Kuga has both boys and girls swooning over her when she comes to class. One of the girls is Student Council President and local Ojou, Shizuru Fujino, who herself has a pool of female groupies.
    • By extension, so does Shizuru Viola of My-Otome, as Arika fangirls over her quite a bit in the early episodes, and Tomoe, well... let's just say she's got a crush. In a few of the Drama CDs related to the show, a then-Coral Natsuki pressed hard to get Shizuru as her room supervisor, so that she could eventually get to know "the real her".
  • Najica Blitz Tactics: All the girls swoon over Najica at both of her jobs. She's like their mutual Cool Big Sis. She also ran into an heiress type on one mission and found out later that the girl had become infatuated with her. Najica wisely declined her offer of a bodyguard job, hearing the implied " wink wink, nudge nudge".
  • NANA Osaki: the fangirls who wait for her outside every Blast show are predominantly female, and in one case they react rather jealously when Nana gives ultimate fangirl Misato a kiss.
  • Setsuna Sakurazaki in Negima! Magister Negi Magi gets endless flirtatious remarks from Konoka Konoe (who's already kissed her for a pactio), a psychotic attraction from Tsukuyomi and has been paired with Asuna in at least one CD drama in a moment that wasn't what it looked like. She remains the series' center of Yuri.
    • The relatively plain-looking Yue Ayase has Emily crushing on her hard, Collett getting jealous when she talks to her old friends, and Nodoka's subconscious being alright with a threesome involving her, Yue, and Negi.
  • Kiri from the manga Never Give Up looks like a male model, acts like a prince when telling her fangirls that she isn't gay, and has a very effeminate love interest. However, she wears the school's female uniform, regularly acts very much like a high school girl, and will often yell "I AM A GIRL!" when provoked (or strongly lusted over). Doesn't change the fact that half the school's female population has enormous crushes on her.
  • Kirika from Noir. Later in the series, Chloe makes it very clear she seeks a lesbian relationship with her.
  • No Matter How I Look at It, It's You Guys' Fault I'm Not Popular!: Yuu. Tomoko and Kotomi both have pretty obvious crushes on her in middle school and separate high schools have done little to ebb their lust.
  • Nyarko from Nyaruko: Crawling with Love! unintentionally won the affection of Cuuko...and she's not happy about it at all, since not only are their races are Arch-Enemies, but Cuuko is a Clingy Jealous Girl Stalker with a Crush Lovable Sex Maniac...which makes this a case of Laser-Guided Karma, since Nyarko is all those things to her Love Interest Mahiro, and often she'll try to brush Cuuko off with the exact same insults Mahiro used on her mere minutes earlier.
  • Setsu from Oddman 11, attempts, in true Scott Pilgrim fashion, to get the boy she likes by fighting through all of his exes. Instead, what ends up happening is that she befriends and attracts a portion of them big enough to turn him unto her love interest.
  • One Piece:
    • Pirate Empress Boa Hancock. She is affectionately referred to as "Snake Princess" by all the Kuja amazons. She takes complete advantage of this by doing whatever the hell she pleases... even kicking small animals in her way. She even manages to use this widespread affection as a weapon. Her Devil Fruit power allows her to petrify anyone, so long as that person harbors lustful thoughts towards her. So far, the only person this hasn't worked on, regardless of age, gender, or species, is Luffy.
    • Earlier, after eating the Slip-Slip Fruit, Alvida gained an incredibly sexy new body (made doubly incredible since she used to be a severe Gonk). Her first post-Fruit appearance featured a large crowd of onlookers smitten by her beauty, including quite a few women.
    • As well as Kalifa. To quote Nami, "Wait, I'm not a man!". It's okay, Nami, we understand.
    • Nami would later flip it around in the Wano Country arc. When her towel slipped off by accident when she was in a bathhouse, everyone present had a nosebleed; including a couple women. Yes, that's right, Nami's Happiness Punch has level-up enough that now affects even women.
    • In the Egghead arc, while Vivi was hiding from the World Government with Morgans, a female journalist who had lent her clothes is swooning over her in the background, mentally saying she'll never wash those clothes again.
  • Ryo from Otomen. She gets even more fangirls after the Ideal-Con, who now considers her as a prince. Even Miyabi.
  • Haruhi Fujioka from Ouran High School Host Club, though the girls want her because they don't realize she's a girl... she wears a male uniform and cuts her hair short. She's indebted to her male pals at the host club and earns money by renting herself out to other girls for companionship (not like that, though!) in the guise of a boy.
    • The Lobelia Academy girls instantly recognize her for what she is, and follow this trope to a hilt.
      • And as pictured on the main page, the Zuka Club's Benio has this in spades. The fangirls compete for the privilege of making her lunch, and she has a tendency to flirt with them outrageously.
  • Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt: Stocking, as of "High School Nudical", and Panty too as of "The Runny". Not only that, but she manages to get a nosebleed out of Garterbelt of all people.
  • Paradise Kiss:
    • Miwako Sakurada is apparently so cute that even the girls want her. At least, pretty obviously heterosexual Yukari "Caroline" Hayasaka thinks she is "so cute, even I would kiss her" as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
    • Yukari herself also invokes the trope. Almost every person that meets her or gets a good glimpse of her face, describes her as "cute" or "beautiful". Also, Miwako is apparently heterosexual, but that doesn't stop her from fawning over Yukari's beauty and touching her boobs when she's taking her measurements.
  • Penguindrum:
    • Momoka. Both Tabuki and Yuri love her and Yuri tries to rape Ringo because they're sisters and so much alike.
    • Tsubasa Yuuki also had something with Yuri and when Yuri broke it off Tsubasa appeared to stab Tabuki out of jealousy.
  • Persona 4: The Animation has Naoto. After she returns to school post-kidnapping and her secret comes out, she still gets love letters from girls left in her shoebox. She also wins the beauty pageant in part because she overwhelmingly wins the female vote.
  • Pokémon: The Series has a lot of powerful female Trainers flanked by female fans. This is especially true of female Gym Leaders and Coordinators (Jessie, Dawn, Zoey, Ursula, etc.).
    • Gym Leader Elesa has a particularly rabid female fanbase, as she wears revealing clothing and is a professional model. In BW069, Cilan crossdresses as her and is disappointed that he cannot mimic her allure.
    • Pike Queen Lucy has an all-female group of delinquent schoolgirls who adore her. In AG158, Jessie disguises herself as Lucy and tries to mimic her allure. Jessie is confident that her transformation is successful.
    • In OS099, Kanto Elite Four member Lorelei/Prima captivates Misty and Tracey. They blush around her, defend her, and sing her praises. This may have to do with the fact that Prima has the largest breasts in the entire series, and has a big behind as well.
    • In OS048, Jessibelle, James's first and current fiancee (out of three fiancées of his), captivates Misty and Brock once she changes into her dominatrix outfit, causing them to blush. In DP153 it is revealed that when James met her, he blushed and was impressed by her manners and sense of decorum.
  • In Potemayo, Nene uses a similar event as part of a story she's telling Guchuko, with a love-drama style segue into another girl giving Nene's friend Kyo (the athletic, cool girl) chocolate on Valentine's, and then going to ask Nene if the two of them are a couple.
  • In Powerpuff Girls Z, tomboy Kaoru's first appearance is that of her escaping in a badass manner from hordes of what seems to be most of the female population in her school.
  • Reiri from Princess Resurrection falls under this while at school. She welcomes this reaction, as it gives her quite a supply of very willing blood donors.
  • All three of the eponymous Psychic Squad. Perhaps ironically, Kaoru tends to attract the girls she's not interested in. She wants older, sexier women! She shifts focus to girls her age when she grows older—much to the dismay of the other two Children.
  • Puella Magi Madoka Magica:
    • Homura seems to be very popular with her female classmates, as seen in the first episode. Sayaka's first reaction to her was, "Wow! She's gorgeous!" The PSP game shows that even Hitomi will swoon over her given the right circumstances (so much for "Girls can't love girls").
    • Madoka herself as well, as Homura has a thing for her.
  • Revolutionary Girl Utena:
    • The eponymous Utena Tenjou is swooned over by several members of both sexes from the very first episode — including hordes of fangirls. And she elicits these reactions whether dressed as a boy or wearing Ohtori's female uniform, as proved by the episode coming after her loss at the hands of Touga, which she tried to cope with by acting and dressing more demurely and girlishly; yes, the other girls were still seriously wet for her, perhaps even moreso than usual. Not to mention that Wakaba goes so far as to call Utena her "boyfriend" and is very affectionate towards her, or how Anthy is hinted to be in love with her in the anime and goes so far as to get naked with Utena in the movie, kiss her, and come on to her.
    • Anthy Himemiya herself, given that Utena seems to be If It's You, It's Okay towards her. And in episode 8, two girls fawn over Anthy (and Utena) as well.
    • Chigusa Sanjouin from the Utena Sega Saturn game also counts. She gets her share of fangirls squeeing over her when she appears in class, and Kozue is even seen dating her at one point.
    • Juri gets attention from many males and later it's confirmed that Shiori has a crush on her.
      • Juri herself has quite a bit of angst over her crush on Shiori.
  • Romeo × Juliet: Juliet Fiamatta Asto Capulet. She and Romeo Candorebanto Montague are the Official Couple, but after learning her true identity (after believing for years that she was a boy), her friend Emilia admits some attraction towards her as well.
  • In Rosario + Vampire a female student once noted that Moka Akashiya "has the kind of beauty that charms even other women." Considering the events in the first episode of the second season of the anime, this is entirely true. There's also the little witch Yukari who harbors a crush on Moka even after joining Tsukune's harem. And that's without getting to what happens when Moka decides to let her inner self out for one school day...
    • Also, in the second season, Yukari, Kurumu, and Mizore are shown to have screaming fanclubs of girls dedicated to them as well.
    • Also, Kokoa, Moka's half sister, is deeply in love with her vampire personality.
    • And now Akuha Shuzen is attracted to Moka too.
  • Lady Oscar from The Rose of Versailles is one of the first anime to introduce this. Rosalie is pretty much in love with her, and the ladies in court comment right in front of her how handsome and dashing she is, and that they wish there were men like her. Plus, when Marie-Antoinette first meets Oscar, she mistakes her for a man, and states she prefers Oscar over her betrothed (who's a painfully shy, pudgy prince who likes locksmithing more than his bride). Oscar is not above taking advantage of this, most notably acting as she was supposed to pick up a bride when her father, who had raised her as a male so he could have a heir, suddenly decided to marry her off (to protect her from getting killed in the incumbent French Revolution) and set up a party for her to choose her future husband.
  • Haruka Tenō of Sailor Moon seems to inspire this, with one episode of Makoto thinking she's so absolutely cool that she winds up crushing on her (despite this being after The Reveal of Haruka's real gender). When Michiru asks to dance with Mamoru, Usagi objects...until she's offered a dance with Haruka in exchange, and instantly shifts gears. After the dance, Haruka is instantly crowded by men and women alike who want to be the next person to dance with her. Meanwhile, Rei, Ami, Minako and Makoto are playing rock, paper, scissors to decide who's going to dance with her next.
    • Rei Hino also invokes the trope in the franchise, being an Aloof Dark-Haired Girl Miko and the idol of her all-girls school. Even Usagi was all googly-eyed when she saw Rei for the first time. Usagi's crush on Rei is practically canon.
    • Hell, in the manga Act that introduces Rei, Usagi first meets her on a bus and then decides to follow her around because she's pretty. When Rei mistakes Usagi for an evil spirit and uses one of her "Evil Spirits Begone" talismans on her and apologizes for it, Usagi thinks to herself that she can forgive anyone who's that beautiful.
    • Usagi herself also has this trope going on, especially in the manga and in Sailor Moon Crystal. Seiya certainly crushed on her, whether as a Gender Bender or Sweet Polly Oliver. And manga!Haruka was straightforward enough to steal a kiss from her, certainly...
  • Mahiru Hiiragi of Seraph of the End. In the novels, its mentioned that she's thought of as "beautiful" and a "goddess" by both males and females with her inspiring blushing worship in everyone. It's even lampshaded in text with the mention that "everybody seemed to adore Mahiru".
    • Mitsuba is the subject of part teasing part flirtatious attentions from Shinoa (to the point where she says she wants to see Mitsuba's body in detail and calls her sexy), has her neck bitten by a female vampire who drapes her body across hers, and Yoichi (a guy) is interested in seeing her in casual clothes and calls her cute in one illustration while looking interested when her skirt flips up in a gag comic implying he has a crush on her.
  • Alice from Serial Experiments Lain. Lain gives her a confession of love in the penultimate episode.
  • Most of Natsumi's female classmates in Sgt. Frog are seriously wet for her.
  • Sora of Shitsurakuen. She's got quite the harem of adoring schoolgirls who she's rescued from evil boys.
  • Shugo Chara!:
    • Amu's cold façade attracts male and female admirers alike, with a group of girls commenting on how she's "cool and spicy".
    • When Amu sees Nadeshiko she comments on how if she were a boy, she'd be in love. Although this case is subverted.
  • Kyouko Mogami from Skip Beat!. Kanae aka Moko certainly does and so do the girls that are doing the "Natsu" drama.
    • Possibly Moko as well, since Kyouko may or may not like Moko in that way.
  • In Soul Eater Not!, Anya gets a moment of this when she puts on a sexy waitress uniform, and her two female friends react by blushing furiously and requesting glasses of water from the barman.
    • And Tsugumi tends to get this from Anya and Meme.
  • Kurumi of Steel Angel Kurumi. Saki longs for Kurumi but Kurumi is hopelessly devoted to Nakahito.
    • Nako, Uruka, and Kurumi (again) from Steel Angel Kurumi 2. Nako has Karinka, Kurumi, and her best friend Uruka in love with her. Kurumi has Saki in love with both her and Uruka. And in episode 4 Kurumi gets legions of fangirls at her school.
  • Shizuma from Strawberry Panic!. She has hordes of fangirls and Nagisa falls in love with her eventually. Also, Nagisa. Chiyo, Shizuma, and Tamao are all in love with her. Hikari too. Yaya is in love with her and so is Amane. And Amane as she has fangirls and Hikari is also in love with her.
  • Strawberry Shake Sweet: Saeki seems to attract a fair share of unwanted female attention. She's also very popular among the manga's female fandom.
  • Midori from Tamako Market, who has received valentines from both genders.
    • Tamako herself falls into a Love Triangle, when is crushed on by Mochizou (a boy) and the aforementioned Midori, a girl.
  • Sanae Sawamura from Teppu. It's blatant to the point that her friend Mai Ganeko is not-so-subtly in love with her (something that gets picked up on and Lampshaded by at least one character).
  • Time Stop Hero: Princess Alicia Belltree and Swordmaster Leafa Colby both get their beauty admired by the hero Kuzuno Sekai and his female friend Niña. When Leafa is rendered naked by Dark Shoggoth, a large crowd which includes several women ogle her.
  • Fujiwara Zakuro from Tokyo Mew Mew. Minto is a huge fan of hers and often describes her with hearts in her eyes.
  • Tomo in Tomo-chan Is a Girl! manages to do this, to the point where a couple of gyaru-type Mean Girls (Mifune and Ogawa) go from aggressive toward her (for seeming to attract Misaki’s attention), to petrified (of her intimidating stance and fearsome strength), to intrigued by her to the point of Ambiguously Bi.
    • Tomo also does the crossplaying-as-a-prince thing as Fairy Tail’s Erza Scarlet above for a school play, and makes all the girls dissolve into heart-eyed Squee.
  • Ami Kawashima from Toradora!, who is something of a selfish jerk (though she mellows out later) with a very good acting ability. Her cute 'natural airhead' persona has made most of the guys admire her beauty and personality, as well as some of the girls. None of the other main characters are fooled by it, however, including the guy whom she apparently has a crush on.
  • Esther Blanchett from Trinity Blood gets men and women smitten with her. She also shows degrees of attraction to both genders.
  • Valkyrie and Hydra from UFO Princess Valkyrie. In the flashback to their school days, they're both shown to have very large fanclubs at the all-girl academy they attend. (The school practically goes into a meltdown of burgeoning lesbian desire when the two are cast as lovers in the annual festival play.) Valkyrie's fangirls seem to have the Cool Big Sis worship going; Hydra's are... a little more blatant:
"Hydra-samaaaaaaa! Do whatever you want to me!"
  • Ryunnosuke of Urusei Yatsura. Yes, the female population of the school is aware that she's female and forced into Bifauxnen status by her father. They don't care — she's still hot.
  • Vampire Knight: If dealing with her Male Harem wasn't already hard enough, Yuuki Kuran has to deal with Les Yay from Shizuka. Yori basically describes her "ideal person" as a mix between Yuuki and Zero.
  • Venus Versus Virus: Lucia. It's all but outright stated that Sumire is in love with Lucia.
  • Ito, the studly heroine of W Juliet, has a mostly female Unwanted Harem.
  • In an absolutely hilarious twist of events in Chapter 73 of The Wallflower, Sunako becomes this trope. And to a much lesser extent, in an earlier chapter which has her becoming a Bifauxnen.
  • Kanade "Majime" Ninomae from Wasteful Days of High School Girls is one of the most sought-after girls in the whole school, and she doesn't know why at all.
  • Ayane of Witch Craft Works is the tall, cool type, constantly surrounded by a huge female fan club. So when she decides to stop guarding Takamiya from the shadows and spend the day by his side, he is instantly hated.
  • Yakitate!! Japan: In an Omake, Tsukino Azusagawa is shown to be receiving a lot of love letters in her shoe box. She's in an all-girls school.
  • Hazuki from Yami to Boushi to Hon no Tabibito has girls taking a liking to her within moments of meeting her, and it seems sincere even when they have an ulterior motive. Unfortunately for them, she could be the poster child for lesbian monogamy and is by turns oblivious or downright dismissive. All her attention is for Hatsumi, a mysterious girl she is pursuing across many worlds.
  • Your Name: While he's in Mitsuha's body, Taki's more assertive personality (including standing up to her usual bullies and kicking butt on the basketball court) actually gets her a Love Confession from a female classmate...which happens when she's back in her own body. She's not happy with him for that. Of course, it also goes the other way when she's in Taki's body.
