Dueling Shows: Web Original

Original Clone Capsule Pitch Description Implementation Winner?
Two Best Friends Play Game Grumps Two gamer friends Let's Play video games in a comedic fashion more than for sheer skill or information. Where Game Grumps has multiple videos of a full game, Best Friends often cuts playthroughs down to a single episode consisting of the highlights. Both shows have spinoffs in similar veins, with the players going against each other (Super Best Friends Brawl and Game Grumps VS) and Animated Adaptations (Two Best Friends: Funtime Adventures and Game Grumps Animated). Also, Two Best Friends Play is a Machinima affiliate while Game Grumps is a The Game Station affiliate. Best Friends came out first in 2010 and has multiple seasons behind them. Game Grumps, while debuting in 2012, has amassed a massive backlog of videos a few short months after its creation. The jury's still out on who will be the victor.
Mike Nelson's RiffTrax Joel Hodgson's Cinematic Titanic Mystery Science Theater 3000 alumni do their best to Hollywood's worst RiffTrax started the post-MSTie film commentary revival by making audio-only downloads that take aim at more mainstream films than MST3K had access to. Soon after, Mike's predecessor started his own similar project, but as DVDs that stick more closely to the original formula: more obscure (and license-able) B-movies, silhouettes in front of the films, and sketches. RiffTrax has a larger catalog (due to its head start and faster production process) and more mainstream appeal, while Cinematic Titanic seems aimed at old-school fans. Many say that there's room for both to be winners.
The Angry Video Game Nerd The Nostalgia Critic Internet Critics who tackle Nostalgia Filter by accentuating the negative and using high levels of profanity. They both started off by posting their reviews on Youtube. Eventually their popularity soared to the point of creating websites around their work. In Real Life, James Rolfe and Doug Walker are good friends, and actually collaborated several times to lampshade their Fandom Rivalry. Tie. Both are seen as innovators of the internet critics. The AVGN has has had a Schedule Slip due to filming a movie while the Critic has officially been retired... Or Not. Either way, the real winners are the fans, many of whom love both shows.
The Angry Video Game Nerd The Irate Gamer Internet Critics who discuss bad games by accentuating the negative and using high levels of profanity. Both started as Youtube reviewers, then created official websites for their work and released licensed games based on the series. Have a notorious Fandom Rivalry between them, with their audiences tending to attack each other for perceived similarities/ripoffs. The Angry Video Game Nerd seems to be doing better here, with many sites seeing his works as of better quality, his videos being more popular (to the point of having a Wikipedia article) and his game being better received (although perhaps still flawed). The Irate Gamer on the other hand gets accusations of ripping off the AVGN and has a sizeable Hatedom online. Both are still fairly popular though, so it's at least not quite as bad as some of the situations listed in Duelling Films or Duelling Games.
Bad Movie Beatdown The Blockbuster Buster Internet critics who thrash bad movies that people were unfortunate enough to see. Coincidentally, both shows are on the That Guy With The Glasses website. Blockbuster Buster handles big-budget US releases, while BMB does to same for UK movies, while also tackling lower-grade straight-to-video releases. BMB wins due to having 5 seasons and starting its 6th as of this writing.
