  • Take a drink every time you die. Warning: We at TV Tropes are not responsible for your inevitable and imminent liver failure.
  • In games with the Press Turn System:
    • Take a drink every time you or one of your demons misses a non-One-Hit Kill, non-status-inducing attack.
    • Take as many drinks as turns lost if your attack connects, but is repelled or drained.
      • Drink a whole bottle of whiskey if the interface alerted you to the enemy's elemental affinities and you did it anyway.
    • If surprised and wiped by a common, weak enemy that did nothing but spam a party wide attack you had a weakness to, never getting a turn, take a drink as usual, then as many drinks as levels you had an advantage over said enemy.
    • For each turn that a boss gets from using Dragon Eye, Beast Eye, Psycho Rage, or Guardian's Eye, take a shot.
  • Take a drink every time you encounter Jack Frost or any of his relatives, hee-ho!
  • Take a drink of communion wine every time you fight God as a Final Boss.
  • Take a drink of something that's white-colored every time Mara makes an innuendo.
    • Erotically drink a bottle of said white drink every time you fuse Mara.
    • Chug it every time you fight Arioch with Mara or vice versa, you pervert!
  • Take a drink every time you get ambushed and killed without getting a chance to strike back.
  • Take a drink every time you try to recruit a demon and it gets hostile.
  • Every time a demon uses Macca Beam on you, convert Macca to Yen at a 1:1 rate and drink alcohol that is worth the amount you lost.
  • Take a drink every time you use Auto-Battle against a boss and win.
  • Every time you defeat one of the following Bonus Bosses, toast your victory with a glass of champagne: Beelzebub (in any installment of the numbered series, but especially IV), Demi-Fiend, Satan, the Demiurge, the aforementioned special Fiend encounters, any of the DLC bosses, the Twisted Tokyo Fiends, Stephen, Lucifer, Elizabeth, Margaret.
  • Take a drink every time a specific year is mentioned.
  • Take a drink every time an enemy Alice uses Die For Me! and it hits.
  • In the three games where Fiends show up in specific areas with 1/256 odds, take a new drink and drink the whole thing if you find one. If by accident, do it twice. Do not do this if the Fiend encounter was one of the predetermined ones in IV or if it spawned from the Fiend spawning tile in the Bonus Dungeon of II.
  • Take a drink if an enemy uses an attack that either you or your allies reflect or drain on you or your allies with said affinities.
  • Take a drink if enemy reinforcements arrive shortly after you've finished clearing out a random encounter.
  • Fusion:
    • Take a drink every time you try to fuse two demons that specialize in magic and the resulting demon has a physical-based build, or vice versa.
    • Take a drink every time a resultant demon has a perfectly-balanced build.
    • In games where you can choose what skills go onto the resultant demon, take a drink for every non-inheritable skill that the "parent" demons have.
    • In games where skill inheritance is randomized, take a sip every time you reroll the resultant demon's skill list.
    • If a Fusion Accident occurs...
      • Drink to celebrate if that accident lands you with a powerful demon/persona, especially one that can only be obtained by accidents.
      • Drink to calm your nerves if that accident happened while you were planning a sequence of fusions to get the right skill on the demon/persona you want.
      • Drink to calm your nerves if you were intentionally trying to get a Fusion Accident but you didn't get the demon/persona you wanted.
    • Grab a separate shot glass and take half the shot when you get Barong or Rangda. Take the other half once you have both. Toast with a second full shot if you fuse them to create Shiva.
  • If a party member is charmed...
    • Take a drink every time they hit one of your other party members. Take a second if they kill the victim.
    • Drink to ease your pain if they cast a healing spell on the enemy. Drink to forget if they cast a full-heal spell on a boss.

Shin Megami Tensei I
  • Take a drink every time you encounter a demon in a shopping center.
  • If you're on the Neutral path, take a drink every time the forces of Law or Chaos rant about why they don't believe in balance.
  • When you get to post-apocalyptic Tokyo and discover that your yen is now worthless, drink alcohol worth the amount of yen you have.
  • Take a drink every time a Law character brings up the Thousand-Year Kingdom.
  • Take a swig when Thor(man) nukes Tokyo. And another when God floods it.

Shin Megami Tensei II
  • Take a drink every time a demon flirts with Hiroko.
  • Take a drink every time you dance to negotiate with an enemy demon. Take another every time it works.
  • When fighting the penultimate boss or Final Boss, take a drink when they use a One-Hit Kill.
  • When fighting the Final Boss, take a drink for every sentence He speaks involving eternal punishment.

Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne

Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey
  • Take a drink every time Jimenez swears.
  • Take a drink every time Ashura uses Asura Roga.
  • Take two drinks every time Maya counters a magic attack with a One-Hit Kill.
  • Take a drink every time the Final Boss uses the One-Hit Kill attack known as "MA" on you. Take another if you were at Level 99. Take a huge drink if you dodge it.
  • Every time a boss demon rambles about humanity, take a drink for every page of text.
  • Take a huge drink every time you run an Enemy Scan and run into a Fiend or a Herald. Finish your drink if that enemy kills you.
  • Take a drink if, when you talk to Commander Gore, you're so far down Law or Chaos that you're given no chance to swing onto the Neutral path.
    • If Commander Gore's Adaptation attack kills you, take a drink for every 100 HP you had.
  • Take a drink every time you take damage in the middle of a cutscene.
  • Take a drink every time someone in your party gets hit with Bomb status. If they explode, take a drink for every party member that dies, including the one who just went boom. Chug hard if the exploding party member is you.

Shin Megami Tensei IV and Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse

Both games:
  • Take a drink every time you or one of your demons takes more than 999 HP of damage.
  • Take a drink every time you fail a demon negotiation because the demon ran off with your stuff or got mad at you for ending talks too early.
  • Take two drinks every time you manage to overwhelm a group of attacking demons quickly enough for the last survivor to surrender.
    • Take another if it's a Zombie Cop.
  • Take a drink every time someone refers to the citizens of Tokyo as "the Unclean Ones".
    • Take two if they use "Filth" instead.
  • Take a drink every time your battle partner uses an attack that causes a boss to Smirk. Take another if it's Walter.
  • Take a drink if you manage to defeat a boss in a single turn.
  • Take a drink every time you see a copyright-friendly version of a real-world brand, such as Star Coffee, Amiqlo, or Luis Viton.
  • Take a drink every time a demon gives you a Life Stone or Medicine as a gift. Take another if you already have 50 of them.
    • Apply the same rules if you get Life Stones and Medicine through the Trade conversation option.
  • Don't drink during the DLC boss battles, especially Masakado's Shadow and Stephen. Those battles are hard enough as is.

Shin Megami Tensei IV:
  • Take a drink every time Burroughs registers a mundane task as a quest.
  • Take a drink every time you recognize the description of a food item that a Hunter's Association bartender offers you.
  • Take a drink every time you meet the Terminal Guardian.
  • If you manage to get onto the Neutral path, toast your success with a drink. Take a second one if you did it by accident.
    • During the Neutral ending, drink a glass of wine in honor of Hugo. For that matter, drink the most expensive wine you have in your collection, because you deserve it.
  • When the Nihilism ending starts, start chugging and don't stop until you see the words "Everything is gone..."
  • Take a drink every time Pluto shouts "Obliterate..."
  • Take a drink every time an appraised Relic turns out to be something sexual.
    • Take two drinks if it's the Women's Toy.
  • In the "Errand for the Apocalypse" quest, take a drink if you killed the Four Horsemen in two turns or less.
  • Take a drink every time someone refers to Japanese script as "mystic script".
  • Take a drink every time Hugo expresses interest in modern technology relics.
  • Take a swig every time you're doing a Challenge Quest and you encounter a Bonus Boss that uses the main quest boss theme, because This Is Gonna Suck. Toast if you beat it.

Apocalypse:
  • First of all: No drinking allowed while the Tokugawa Mandala is up.
  • Take a drink every time Dagda looks down on humans, bonds, or friendship.
  • If you try to refuse to do something and Dagda forces you to do it anyway, drink to ease your woes.
  • Regarding battle partners, take a drink every time:
    • Asahi's demons don't obey her orders.
    • Navarre applies a buff that isn't the best for the situation. (e.g. using Makakaja when your main attacker is physical)
    • Hallelujah uses Enduring Cheer but you or your demons die anyway.
    • Gaston jumps in at the start of your turn but his attack misses or gets nulled/absorbed/reflected, wasting your turn icons.
    • Toki instantly kills a horde.
    • Toki instantly kills a demon you wanted to recruit at the start of the battle.
  • Take a drink if your Jade Dagger energy runs out just before you can cut down the next barrier, forcing you to backtrack to the previous Power Spot.
  • Take a drink every time you get into a (Seemingly) Hopeless Boss Fight.
  • Take a drink if a battle begins with all enemies smirking.
  • Take a drink if your allies perform an Assist Attack when you didn't really need it. (e.g. finishing off a helpless random encounter)
    • Drink to ease your pain if they did it right before a boss battle.
  • Take a drink when an enemy attack pierces through your resistance(s). Another if they used Smile Charge beforehand.
  • Take a drink every time you visit a dungeon that was introduced in IV.
    • Take another if it's since been expanded.
  • Take a drink every time Toki calls you "Master".
    • Take a drink every time Asahi expresses jealousy over Toki.
  • Take a drink every time a newly-introduced character notices Navarre.
  • Take a drink every time Krishna or anyone under his leadership mentions "salvation".
  • Every time you visit a town or shelter and there's nothing of plot or sidequest importance there, grab a new glass and take a sip. Finish that glass if it turns out later that it actually is the location of a Challenge Quest. Then take a shot on top of that if you have to fight a boss or horde.
  • Take a drink every time Navarre makes a comically exaggerated expression.
  • Take a shot if you get ejected from Twisted Tokyo while fighting a Fiend. If they were flashing red (i.e. low on HP) when this happens, take another.
  • Take a drink for every full lolita outfit you buy in the Ginza members' shop. Take another drink if you equip it.
  • Take a drink every time humans complain about being used by Merkabah and Lucifer as pawns.
  • Take a drink every time the censored-out name of YHVH is spoken.
  • Drown your sorrows if Dagda takes away all of your demons for the Bonds route lock or Navarre takes away all of your items for the Massacre route lock.
  • On Massacre, while fighting your former companions, take a shot each time you're about to kill one of them.
  • For every hour that you're in YHVH's Universe, take a shot.
  • For the Final Boss:
    • If on the Bonds route, toast every time one of your allies steps forward and calls Him out.
    • Take a drink when God's Mouth is used and connects.
    • During the second form, if you applied debuffs and he uses Infinite Power or if you applied buffs and he uses Unending Curse, take an amount of shots equal to the highest leveled buff/debuff.
    • Finish your glass if, on either form, your attack is fully buffed and either Charge or Concentrate is active and he uses Divine Harmony, cancelling it all out.

Digital Devil Saga
  • Take a drink every time a character gets a stomachache.
  • Take a drink every time Cielo gets hit with a status ailment, unless it's during the Demi-fiend fight and Cielo has Null Sleep equipped.
  • Take a drink every time Gale says "I do not comprehend" in a cutscene.
  • When fighting the Demi-fiend, finish your drink if he uses Gaea Rage...unless someone survives it, then only take a sip.
    • Drink until you're unconscious if he does it at the start of battle.
  • When fighting Satan in the sequel, also drink until you're unconscious if you allow him to use Diarahan.

Devil Survivor and Devil Survivor 2
  • Take a drink every time Yuzu complains about wanting to leave the lockdown.
    • Take a big drink if, at the end of Day 6, only her path is available.
  • Take a drink every time Midori pretends to be a Magical Girl.
  • Take a drink when Naoya is brought up, and another if his relationship with the protagonist is mentioned.
  • Take a drink every time Atsuro calls Yuzu "Yoohoo", or every time Yuzu calls Atsuro "Otakuro".
  • Take a drink every time you get hit with Bind or Ghost Wounds. Two if it's the advanced skills Evil Bind or Possession.
  • Take a drink every time you kill a Skill Crack enemy with the wrong team.
  • Take a drink if a team with Evil Wave or Chaos Wave attacks one of your teams, and the targeted team cannot fight back. Any bosses that can attack teams multiple squares away also count.
    • Take another if, due to said enemy team not moving, they get another turn before you can move or heal the targeted team.
    • Take a couple more if the targeted team dies because of it.
  • Take a drink for every team you kill in one use of Multi-Strike.
  • While fighting Lucifer, take a drink the first time he uses Megidoladyne. Each time he uses it again, drink 50% more than you did last time. Repeat until either Lucifer is dead, your party is dead, or you are dead.
    • Do the same if it happens while you're fighting the Ticos in Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker.
  • Take a drink each time Daichi has a Butt Monkey moment. Take another if he gets Dragged by the Collar by Joe.
  • Take a congratulatory drink when you Rank up with a party member. Add another if you max out with someone.
  • If a playable character dies due to plot reasons, drown your sorrows with a drink. If playing the sequel, take one for each Fate level you had with that person.
  • Take a drink if food is being offered. Two drinks if it's Jungo's chawanmushi.

Persona 3 (including FES and Portable)
  • Take a drink every time the Reaper shows up.
    • Take another if he catches you.
    • Take yet another if he kills you.
    • Take a drink of celebratory champagne if you kill him.
      • Drown your sorrows if you killed him before the Bloody Button request became available and you didn't know about the request.
  • Take a huge drink if you reverse a Social Link.
    • Drink until you vomit if you break it.
  • Take a drink every time you kill a major boss with Armageddon, you cheese!
  • Vanilla, FES, and Portable with Direct Control off only: Take a drink every time the Final Boss uses Moonless Gown and your teammates try to attack the boss anyway.

Persona 4 (including Golden)
  • Take a drink of some sort of Gargle Blaster every time any member of the Investigation Team is subjected to Chie's or Yukiko's cooking.
  • Take a drink every time someone refers to Mr. Morooka as "King Moron".
  • Take another every time Morooka or Adachi says something misogynistic.
  • Take a drink every time Ms. Kashiwagi expresses jealousy over a female student.
  • Take a drink every time you fail one of the Funky Student's riddles.
    • Take another if you try again another day, forget to learn from your mistakes, and use the same answer.
  • Down an entire bottle if you fail to rescue a TV world victim.
    • If you completely forget about the victim and only notice when the weather turns into a days-long rainstorm, drink until you pass out.
  • Golden only: If Valentine's Day comes and you made the mistake of having multiple girlfriends, drink an entire bottle for every girlfriend you turn down.
    • If you turn all of them down, drink until you drop dead, You Bastard.
  • Take a drink every time you get a request to feed the cat.
  • Take a drink every time Rise flirts with you.
    • Take another if it's in a main story cutscene rather than a Social Link event.
      • Take yet another if you don't have a Social Link with her.
      • Also take a drink if you already have a girlfriend (or two, or three).
  • Take a drink every time Shadow Mitsuo regenerates their armor.
  • If you try to request the fox's SP-restoring services and you can't afford it, drink alcohol that is worth the difference between your current money and the price of his services.
    • For ease, consider 100 yen to be the equivalent of one US dollar (if you're playing in the United States.)
  • If you somehow reverse any Social Link other than Ai's, drown your sorrows.
  • Take a drink every time a teammate offers to do a follow-up attack. Toast if it's Chie's.
  • Take a drink for every time Chie says whatever random thing is on her mind while the Investigation Team is discussing the case, but turns out to actually make sense in that context. Take two if she lampshades it.

Persona 5
  • Take a drink whenever a character exclaims "For real?!".
  • Take a drink whenever Morgana prevents you from doing any nighttime activities even though you didn't go to a Palace or Mementos that day.
  • Take a drink every time you get caught in a Palace, causing the security meter to raise. Down the bottle if you somehow manage to get it to 100% thus getting kicked out of the Palace for the day.
  • Take a drink whenever a Treasure Shadow appears.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE
  • Take a drink when a party member's stage rank goes up.
  • When a session activates, take a drink when it includes all current party members.
    • Take another when a Dual Art is prompted and selected, and yet another when it triggers another session.
  • When an attack is selected, but that party member does an ad-lib performance instead, drink.
  • Take a drink when Eleonora mentions Hollywood.
  • Take a drink when Tsubasa fangirls over Kiria, or if she's so nervous she suddenly uses a Spoonerism.
  • Take a drink when a reference to the Fire Emblem series is made. Don't count jingles or weapon names unless you really want to do without your liver.
    • If it's a character mirage, drink only when their name is introduced for the first time.
  • Take a drink when you create a new weapon.
  • Take a drink when a villain wants to take or use Performa.
  • Take a drink when Barry hams it up.
  • Take a drink each time a character wears something new. This only counts if it's their first time wearing it, so arts in battle involving these don't count. Counting Carnage Forms is optional.
