* ForWantOfANail: The 6th Universe shows what might have happened to the Saiyan race if they had never met Frieza and never given into their bloodlust: instead of being planet brokers, they're noble heroes for hire, and have evolved past the point of needing their tails (and with it, Great Apes).

** [[spoiler:Future Trunks finally kills Merged Zamasu by [[HalfTheManHeUsedToBe slicing him in half vertically]] -- starting at the groin and going up. It's not PlayedForLaughs at all; in fact, no special attention is drawn to it whatsoever, for obvious reasons.]]

** It is more {{Downplayed}} compared to the movie since Frieza fares better overall since he is an AdaptationalBadass and his army has one more powerful EliteMook in Tagoma/Ginyu who gives the protagonists a more serious challenge. However, he doesn't completely avoid this fate: His army, bar Shisami and Tagoma, is still stomped into the ground by the likes of Master Roshi, a fighter who hasn't actively fought since the King Piccolo Saga, his {{Dragon}} is easily taken down by a rusty Gohan and is one-shotted by Vegeta, and his golden form, admittedly after a prolonged duel, burns out after less than a minute of fighting at full power during which Goku lets Frieza beat him up so he would tire out faster. By the time Goku counterattacks, Frieza is exhausted to the point that he can barely stand, while Goku, despite his injuries, is relatively fine. He also does suffers a (compared to the movie relatively minor) VillainousBreakdown when Goku says [[NotWorthKilling he isn't worth killing]] and he should go away. When he does get Goku at his mercy and is about to kill him, Vegeta not only interferes, but reveals that he can go to the same level of Super Saiyan God as Goku and promptly kicks Frieza's ass, knocking him out of his golden form and causing a major VillainousBreakdown. When it appears he at least gets the last laugh and destroys the Earth, Whis rewinds time on him, allowing Goku to kill him, and sending him right back to Hell. Even the major gain he got in the show like killing Piccolo is reversed before the saga ends, [[MeaninglessVillainVictory making his one true victory utterly meaningless]]. Yeah, he really should have taken [[StatingTheSimpleSolution Tagoma's]] advice.
** This is Frost's fate after he is caught [[spoiler: cheating]]. He loses his match against Vegeta in one punch and he is knocked out by Hit when he tries to [[spoiler: steal the prize treasure and the cube ship]].

* HonestyAesop: Somewhat spoofed in episode 42 in which Beerus has to protect his MotivationalLie to goku about [[spoiler: Monaka being one of the strongest people in the universe]]. The rest of the cast gleefully forces him to go to increasingly awkward lengths to protect this lie, and he ends up sparring with Goku in a hot and embarrassing Monaka costume. At the end of this, he vows not to lie again, while Whis nods as if it was his intention to teach this all along.

** Cocoa's ShipTease with [[HappilyMarried Gohan]] is obviously never going to progress beyond being a [[AllLoveIsUnrequited one-sided crush]].

** {{Subverted|Trope}} in Future Trunks' timeline where Earth's Dragon Balls are inert thanks to the androids killing Piccolo and they can't find New Namek to use theirs or have a Namekian make Earth some new ones. Furthermore, when [[spoiler:Gowasu travels to the future to demand Goku Black and Future Zamasu use the Dragon Balls to fix the damage they've caused, they reveal that they destroyed the Super Dragon Balls, thus preventing the last possible way to restore Trunks' future]]. So [[KilledOffForReal all deaths are permanent]]. Then, the saga manages to one-up itself by [[spoiler: destroying the ''entire'' timeline after Merged Zamasu infected it and kills everyone in it except a few named characters. That includes everyone in the [[DeaderThanDead afterlife]]. The best Whis can offer is to make a duplicate timeline for Trunks and Mai, and stop Black and Future Zamasu before they can kill the gods. However, this is only a [[CloseEnoughTimeline copy]]. The timeline that Trunks and Mai gave everything to protect is beyond saving]].

** The second one is during the final episode of the arc: [[spoiler:Merged Zamasu becomes one with the multiverse and proceeds to kill off all the survivors that Future Trunks and Future Mai gave their all to keep alive, including the two kids that Trunks befriended. Then [[TopGod Zen'O]] comes in and wipes the entire future timeline out, making everyone who died in the future timeline DeaderThanDead.]]

** The way the anime (and Toriyama's outline) portrays Zamasu's body figure is quite different, with him being a lean, [[{{Bishonen}}pretty boy]], while Toyotaro draws him quite muscular in the manga. This even extend to the facial expressions, with the anime smiles being more subtle, only going to the extreme when Zamasu's mental state grows worse, while the manga are full blown [[SlasherSmile slasher and villainous]] with any evil act. ''Videogame/DragonBallXenoverse2'' model is based on the anime, with Zamasu being leaner than Black, while the manga portray both with a similar muscle figure.

* FaceOfAnAngelMindOfADemon: This is especially true of [[spoiler: Present]] Zamasu. He looks like an older version of U7's Supreme Kai with [[{{Bishonen}} pretty boy features]]. He even looks downright innocent when serving tea to Gowasu in Episode 53. That is before he suffered SanitySlippage after meeting Goku who shattered his world. After that faithful meeting, he [[StartOfDarkness began his descend into darkness]].

* HurtingHero: Life seems to hate Future Trunks. After freeing his world from the androids and Cell, it's under seige again from an even more powerful and ruthless villain, [[spoiler: Goku Black]]. The day he is supposed to go back in time to bring his allies from the past to help him, [[spoiler: Goku Black murders his mom and (apparently) his friend Mai right in front of him, and he can do nothing to stop it]].

** It seems Piccolo has Frost defeated after he wraps him in his arm and has his Special Beam Cannon fully charged. [[spoiler: Then Frost poisons him, causing him the fight]].
** Probably one of the most vicious ones in the entire franchise. [[spoiler: After unconsciously gathering the energy from the survivors of Earth, Future Trunks creates something that looks like a Spirit Bomb and absorbs its power into his sword. He then uses his spirit sword to sliced Merged Zamasu in half. In the end, it appears that the people of future Earth saved themselves from the wrath of a mad god. Then, Merged Zamasu's spirit fuses with the multiverse and ''kills'' everyone except Goku, Vegeta, Future Trunks, Future Mai, Bulma, and the Supreme Kais. To add more salt, Future Zen'o wipes the timeline, including the afterlife. So everyone who died [[DeaderThanDead don't even exist anymore]]]].

** Ginyu's back and up to his old tricks. He gets around the limitations of his frog body by tricking Tagoma into saying "Change."

** Sidra and Rumoosh's animosity towards Goku seems to stream from jealousy that he's close to [[TheDreaded Zen'o]]. Although, Sidra also has a beef with Goku since he beat his best fighter.

** The Champa Saga. It is the fist story arc since the 21st World Martial Arts Tournament to have no villain. Champa and his team are antagonists against U7, but no one save for [[spoiler: Frost]] is evil. Hit may be an assassin who is stoic and dispassionate (at least until he fights Goku), but he has a strict code of honor and is an example of DarkIsNotEvil. Champa is more boorish and rude compared to Beerus, but he overall treats people better than Beerus (who often eats on other people's planets before judging to destroy it), doesn't have tantrums over small things like there being no pudding that ends with a planet exploding, doesn't terrorize people with his mere presence, shows some degree of sympathy for others like him feeling sorry for Frost when he hears his backstory, and his temper is nowhere as bad as his twin. [[EveryoneHasStandards He also has standards about who represents his universe]]. At the same time, he doesn't care about the warrior code and wants his fighters to take the most [[CombatPragmatist pragmatic solutions to win over fighting fairly]], sees his fighters as pawns, and he was ready to [[spoiler: kill his entire team for losing the tournament]]. On the other side, although all the fighters from U7 are good with Vegeta being an example of GoodIsNotNice, Beerus has a history of doing terrible things because someone or something ticked him off, as seen throughout the Battle of Gods Saga, and he still threatens the people of Earth whenever he's upset. It is also hard to say if he sees his fighters as comrades or pawns similar to Champa since he didn't care that Champa was going to [[spoiler: wipe out his own team]] and mocks Goku for thinking he can overrule the gods. With that said, Beerus has shown major CharacterDevelopment since he [[spoiler: uses his one wish to restore U6's Earth and advance its culture to be similar to U7's Earth so Champa can enjoy the same food as him]]. Although, it's left up in the air if he did this out of the kindness of his own heart, or because he wants Champa to owe him something.

* GeoEffects: Magetta can create his own environment by superheating the battlefield to volcano temperatures. Since he literally eats magma, the heat has no effect on him, but it quickly becomes unbearable to his opponent. Vegeta is left panting and tired after only a few seconds of exposure to the heat. It also helps that Vados created a secondary barrier to hold in the heat and restrain Vegeta's flight.

* IHaveTheHighGround: [[spoiler: Merged Zamasu]] spends the ''entire'' fight flying high above everyone raining down death on them. He outright says he's doing it because he's a god and he should be looking down on everyone (in this case literally).

** Despite Whis working for Beerus, who is a [[EvilIsPetty petty]], [[SpoiledBrat spoiled]], PsychopathicManchild with several {{Berserk Button}}s who will [[DisproportionateRetribution destroy a planet because he hated the food]], he calls [[spoiler: Goku Black]] a coldhearted, evil individual.

** After Beerus slaps Bulma, [[BerserkButton Vegeta loses it completely]]. That is before he explodes into UnstoppableRage.

** The Champa Saga. It is the fist story arc since the 21st World Martial Arts Tournament to have no villain. ** For the human world, Mr. Satan. As soon as the Earth began to shake, they called him and asked for his help. Now taken UpToEleven since they think he ascended to godhood.
