Recon 5: Would it be a good idea to edit some of the more "opinionated" examples to make them closer to factual statements than the vitriol that they now are? For example, saying "Many fans of X choose to ignore season 2" instead of saying "X ran for only one season. That is the truth."

Willy Four Eyes: Is it true? Was One Piece really dumped in favor of Blue Dragon on Cartoon Network? Ouch. Looks like the damage from the original dub has already been done.

Charred Knight: Yes, it was cancelled for Blue Dragon. Cartoon Network has stated that One Piece is gone for good, and they have no plans to ever rerun it.

Willy Four Eyes: Since it looks like some of the bullet points are back, I'm pulling out most of this Conversation In The Main Page regarding Naruto:

Want to see episodes 136 through 220? Then be prepared to sit through Naruto filler hell! Well, okay, episode 101 can stay, but was it necessary to add that many non-manga episodes?
- Actually, yes, they did. The anime outpaced the manga, to the point that they had literally animated every single chapter of the manga up until that point. There simply was nothing left to animate, so they had to buy some time. The series has since caught up to the YEAR of extra manga that the filler year gave them, so we should probably expect it again soon. The manga artist has mentioned he wants to collaborate with the anime team to make "official filler" this time, though — canon stories revolving around the second stringers, adult ninjas, flashbacks, etc.
- What are you talking about? The anime is at approximately #310 of the Manga, while Kishimoto just released chapter #395. There are three big fights left to cover, which, knowing Shonen, should take several years.
- I was talking about, you know, the year of filler hell when they DID run out of manga material — The "136 through 220" comment above, which, going by the "*"s, was what I was directly replying to. Hopefully the bullet lists will be fixed someday.

...since the point about not wanting to watch the "filler material" has already been covered elsewhere.

Also, I rewrote the entries regarding Galaxy Angel Rune and Soukou No Strain to remove the Undead Horse Trope in-joke, giving actual reasons for why those portions were ignored.

Servbot: Removed the Nanoha example. Don't think skipping the boring but necessary character introduction and plot exposition bits to get to the cool and awesome lots of stuff explodes bits is this, since they still exist in your personal canon. You just don't want to go through them again.

Charred Knight: I thought about deleting it just because the guy was bitching about how Nanoha was NOT A MARY SUE! Apparently what he wants is a series where the heroine has insane powers, and gets them for nothing, and has no consenquences for using them. I didn't because if he wants to pretend that Nanoha sucks its his choice.

Redkun: I added the Nanoha example. Contrary to what you believe, I loved the first two series of Nanoha. They were densely plotted, action-packed, non-stop thrill rides filled with some of the best characterisation and action scenes ever. I hated the third series because they took what had been one of the best features of the franchise- the pace- and slowed it to an absolute crawl. It was a step back for a series that had built itself on insanely cool, high-powered battles; where every episode felt essential instead of just a time-filler. It only really hits this mark during the last ten episodes, hence why I cut it out of my own continuity.

I have no idea what Charred Knight is talking about.

Servbot: I'd guess it's because cutting that from your own continuity essentially turns the last parts into a Beginners Luck fest prevalent in anime aimed at younger age groups instead of a "see how much the kids have grown" thing. That, or it removes things like Nanoha's actual failure in the past and her general unease in becoming a mother, which does turn Nanoha into the static goddess that does no wrong.

Like I said, you may not wish to go through the boring first half again since it's mostly world introduction, character building, and the series trying to believably make the newbies into people that could decently keep pace with the old crew so they could take part in the climax, but unlike actual cases of Discontinuity, the things that happened in the first half would still have happened in your personal continuity.

Redkun: The thing is, the first two series were entirely what you described in your first sentence. And it became massively popular because of it. My problem with the first part of StrikerS is that it messes with a formula that made it unique and successful for a magical girl series. It proved that you could have a good amount character and world development without losing pace by densely plotting each episode. Why they decided to get rid of that in exchange for slow-burning training episodes (which I could find in any typical seinen anime) baffles me. (Note that I accept this is probably a case of They Changed It Now It Sucks for me.)

Just as an addendum: the way I phrased my entry was deliberately meant to be humorous. Just like people can remove disliked episodes or even entire seasons from continuity, removing the first half of a series strikes me as a valid example. I'm not particularly bothered about it though; I've got no intention of starting an editing war so I won't attempt to re-add it. It's just not worth the drama.

Two episodes have aired, how can you tell if you will like it based on two episodes? Unless you prejudged the whole thing based off of a promotional image.
- It's card games. On motorcycles. Motorcycles.
- Three, to be precise, and that is all that needs to be seen, quite frankly; no one would be stupid enough to create a dueling format where you have to operate motor vehicles while dueling and has a mandatory field spell that severely restricts the number of playable cards available to the duelists. It's just not good business practice (the field spell limits potential sales, and the dangers of riding while dueling limits potential buyers).

Cassius335: Why on Motorbikes? Rule Of Cool. And normal duels are still around, so I doubt Industrial Illusions are losing any money on Spells.

(later) just watched Ep 4 and reconfirmed something for myself: The first words out of a D-Wheel's speaker when a Riding Duel starts are "Duel Mode Start, Auto-Pilot Standby". So most of the work of driving the bikes is handled by computer.

Gloating Swine: The whole "on motorcycles" thing does seem to be trying to invoke the Rule Of Cool, possibly even to go Beyond The Impossible, but judging by the general reaction so far, isn't quite pulling it off. I expect it to enter widespread Dis Continuity for just being too silly, even for a franchise where card games are Serious Business without being cool enough. After all, nothing's sadder than trying to go Beyond The Impossible and just ending up somewhere in the slightly improbable.

Shale: I'm sure there's someone out there for whom "Yu-Gi-Oh on motorcycles!" qualifies for Ninja Pirate Zombie Robot levels of cool. I'm glad I'm not him.

Also, how do you declare Dis Continuity on dubs? Unless they Macekre the plot, what continuity is there to Dis in the first place?

Charred Knight: I deleted some Adaptation Decay, and rewrote the FMA example to mention that some of the anime fans hate the movie. I also pointed out that I find the reason given hilarious when you compare that most of the romantic scenes are only in the manga.

Charred Knight: Deleted because its just about a dub (and has nothing to do with canon to Macross.

Don't ever mention or even utter the word "Robotech" in front of a Macross fan. You will regret it.

Charred Knight: Wily Four Eyes are you talking about the scene where its shown that Tomoe has a diaper fetish? Its played completely for comedy, and its stricly shown that Shizuru, was only playing with Tomoe.

Rogue 7: Speaking as a fairly observant Naruto fan (manga only, as of late), I can't think of any instance where both Sakura and Naruto admitted that they're on a date. I can certainly see the romantic tension building between them, but that evidence I don't see. (full disclosure- I admit to being a mild Naruto/Hinata shipper.)

Anonymous Mc Cartneyfan: If someone adds the Haruhi Suzumiya "Endless Eight" arc again, don't remove it again. 4chan is a large enough fanbase to create a true Dis Continuity.

The entry states: "This was what Kyo Ani was aiming, as they didnt want to do the 8 episodes that Kadogawa asked." Kadogawa who? ~~~~

This troper genuinely wishes they had continued the series past episode 15, he would've liked to see Simon as an adult. Curse you and your character derailments!
